1998 Gmc K2500 Suburban Slt Sport Utility 4-door 7.4l 4x4 on 2040-cars
Rochester, New York, United States
For sale is a 1998 GMC Suburban 2500. I bought this truck with 43K miles and still drive it. My dad owned an auto repair business, so I learned mechanics from him. The engine oil has been changed every 3500 miles, and always used a sync blend, along with a premium filter. The transmission oil was changed every year. I performed endless amounts of maintenance on this truck, and always made sure the repairs were correct. I used this truck as a daily driver for my family and couldn’t take a chance on it breaking down. The front end is tight with various parts replaced as needed. Alignment was always performed at least once a year. The radiator is fairly new as is the battery and starter (and many other parts). The truck never failed NYS inspection. It starts right up and holds 40-70lbs of oil pressure. No smoke. A few years ago I replaced a rusty oil pan- and at the same time replaced the timing chain and gears. However, they were perfect- I didn’t need to touch them. The inside of the engine was very clean (probably from all the routine oil changes). It has GT4 (3.73) axles. JD7 8400lb brakes, 140A alt. L29 Engine (7.4L), 4L80-E (heavy duty Transmission). It sifts perfect and the transfer case has no issues. The tires are very good (see one of the pictures- they are all the same because I rotate them regularly). Belts, hoses, pumps, lines etc. are all good. Recent brake job/rotors. ABS and bearings are fine. No clunk’s, noises or rattles. Mechanically this truck is very sound. The interior is very good. Some wear on the passenger seat (driver’s side was re-lined a few years ago). The back seat is perfect, as is the 3rd row removable seat. The front seat heaters craped out a few years ago and there is an issue with the AC- if I have time, I will look into it (doesn’t seem to be anything major, from first glance). The body is good, as is the floors. However, the bottoms of the front doors and the rear barn doors have rust and/or rusted through (see pictures). It did not go through this last NY winter. You can't tell from the pictures (sorry used an iphone), but the left rear barn door is rusted out at the bottom and the lower bottom front doors are rusty.
PLEASE have your questions answered before bidding. Vehicle is sold as is.
The truck is advertised locally and I reserve the right to end the ebay auction early it I sell it outside ebay. These trucks (2500s) are getting very difficult to find. I am only selling because I have too many vehicles. |

GM profits threatened by glut of pickups
Wed, 05 Dec 2012Automotive News reports that General Motors may slash production or ramp up discounts in order to deal with an oversupply of pickup trucks. GM currently has more than double the standard supply of pickups, and the vehicles are threatening to dampen the automaker's profits for 2013. Typically, automakers try to sustain a 60- to 75-day supply of vehicles, but GM is currently loaded with a 139-day supply, as of last month. At the end of November, the automaker was sitting on 245,853 units.
The manufacturer says that it will adjust production accordingly before laying any incentives on the profitable pickups. Even so, there's some concern that the inventory swell could hurt the roll-out of the next-generation Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra. GM actually began slowly stepping back production in August, but it's clear the company will take further action as it heads toward the end of the year and into the next. Analysts predict the automaker could reduce pickup manufacturing by nearly half in the first quarter of 2013.
That still may not be enough to keep GM from laying extra cash on the Silverado and GMC Sierra. While the company's incentive spending was down in November compared to the same month in 2011, both the Ram 1500 and Ford F-150 saw double-digit percentage increases in sales last month while the Silverado and Sierra numbers slid compared to a year prior. Incentive spending could help move more trucks and add some balance to the GM inventory surge.
2022 Hummer EV Edition 1 pickups ready to go to customers
Sun, Dec 19 2021It's official: Two years after GM announced the electric GMC Hummer pickup, the first couple dozen units have left the line at the GM Factory Zero Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly Center, according to GM president Mark Reuss. In an interview with CNBC to celebrate the milestone, Reuss said 17 Hummer EVs are ready for delivery to customers. This makes the Hummer the first of GM's new Ultium-based EVs to leave the factory, and the second electric pickup on the market after the Rivian R1T. The first 1,200 Hummer EVs made will be Edition 1 models, all of which are Interstellar White outside with Lunar Horizon interiors and bronze badging. Each of the $112,595 pickups is powered by three Ultium motors producing a GM-estimated 1,000 horsepower and 11,500 pound-feet of torque, loaded with features like height-adjusting adaptive suspension, skid rails and rock sliders, 35-inch tires, the diagonal-driving CrabWalk, the launch control system Watts to Freedom that unlocks a three-second sprint to 60 miles per hour, and Super Cruise. Range is a GM-estimated 329 miles when the 200-kWh battery is fully charged. As these filter out to eager owners, GM is prepping the next four phases of the Hummer rollout. About a year from now, in autumn of 2022, Factory Zero will begin production of the first widely available Hummer, the EV3X pickup that starts at $99,995 before destination. Three Ultium motors will provide an estimated 800 horsepower and 9,500 pound-feet of torque to a range estimated beyond 300 miles. Spring of 2023 is expected to deliver the Hummer EV2X pickup at an MSRP of $89,995, utilizing two motors producing a total 625 hp and 7,400 lb-ft over a range also estimated to go beyond 300 miles. Around the same time, the first units of the $105,595 Hummer SUV Edition 1 are planned to head down lines at Factory Zero. Finally, in the spring of 2024, the entry-level $79,995 Hummer EV2 pickup and its two-motor powertrain should arrive, making the same output as the EV2X, but only good for a range of around 250 miles. That won't be all we see from Factory Zero, either. GM invested $2.2 billion in the Detroit-Hamtramck plant that once built bread-and-butter GM fare like the Chevrolet Impala, Buick LaCrosse, and Oldsmobile Toronado in order to turn the facility into its first EV base of manufacturing operations for Ultium products. The battery-electric Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickups will be built there, as will the Cruise Origin robotaxi.
GM recalls full-size truck, SUVs and vans over faulty shifter mechanism
Mon, 07 Jan 2013Twelve different General Motors vehicles from the 2013 model year, up to 54,686 units in total, are being recalled over two potential issues with their steering columns. The models in question, all full-size trucks, SUVs or vans, are the: Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Escalade EXT, Chevrolet Avalanche, Express, Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe, and GMC Savana, Sierra, Yukon and Yukon XL.
The affected vehicles were built with a fractured parking lock cable or "a malformed steering column lock actuator gear in the lock module assembly." As a consequence, they could shift out of park without the brake pedal being applied or with the key removed or in the off position.
A bulletin from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration indicates that the recall should begin on January 17. GM will notify owners, at which time they can take their vehicles to their dealers for repair free of charge. Have a look at the bulletin below for more information.
