1994 Gmc Suburban Diesel 4x4 on 2040-cars
Cisne, Illinois, United States
This is a heavy duty 3/4 ton, 8600# GVW suburban. I am the third owner. I have put 118,000 miles on it. The injection pump was completely overhauled at around 230,000 miles, and had new injectors installed this spring. I have also installed a Heath Diesel PMD isolator kit, and Heath Diesel waste gate actuator. The engine has normal oil leakage around oil pan gasket, and uses around a quart every 5000 miles. The radiator was redone this summer as it had a crack in the inlet tank. the cooling system has no leaks, but tends to show a low coolant light sometimes on the dash, but never gets hot. If you try to add more antifreeze thinking it is low it then becomes to full and just blows out the excess. The check engine light will also come on if it is driven more than 75 mph for an extended distance. The reason it does this, is because of the installation of the mechanical waste gate actuator, and I never have installed a Heath Diesel programmer to go with it. The belts and hoses are in good shape, and has had a new fuel filter installed this spring when injectors were replaced. It also has new engine oil cooler lines that were installed this spring as well. Brand new alternator in the last 5000 miles. Also has a K&N air filter. The transmission shifts and works as it should with no hesitations. It had been rebuilt by the previous owner not long before I purchased the vehicle, it is a 4L80E heavy duty. The 4x4 works excellent. I have changed the actuator to the newer style that kicks in much faster than the original. The axle ratio is 4.10. Air conditioning works very well, the whole system was flushed, and new compressor, dryer, orifice tube and rear expansion valve was installed in September of 2013. It has front and rear air with no rear heat. As for the cosmetics of the vehicle, it looks about average for a vehicle with this age and mileage. It has the normal door dings, scratches, and rock chips. The worst place is on the hood where the clear coat is peeling off and a long scratch on the passenger side. The interior has normal wear and a stains. It does have a small hole in the driver seat, and the rest of the seats are just fine. There is a place about the size of your hand in the carpet in the rear cargo area where the previous owner had turned over a battery and leaked some acid, then got it on his hand and touched the upholstery on the side panel. It looked like this when I bought it and hasn't gotten any worse. The gages all work except for the trip meter. It has an aftermarket CD/MP3 am/fm JVC stereo. It has 235/85/R16 Firestone Transforce A/T load range E tires mounted on American Racing aluminum rims. The tires are at around 30% tread. The fuel tank is 42 gallon. My wife used this as her run around vehicle/grocery getter and usually got around 15 MPG on average. Still being driven, so mileage could be increased by time of sale. We occasionally used this vehicle to pull our 6000# camper and it handles it like a champ. Fuel mileage does decrease down to around 12 mpg when trailering. The reason for getting rid of this vehicle is we upgraded to a 2005 GM diesel 4 door pickup last year and dont really need this one anymore. I am listing this vehicle locally so reserve the right to end the auction at any time. We are located in southern Illinois. Please fell free to call me about any questions at 618-231-2589 or 618-854-2650.

Texas sues GM, saying it tricked customers into sharing driving data sold to insurers
Wed, Aug 14 2024Texas filed a lawsuit Tuesday against GM over years of alleged abuse of customers' data and trust. New car owners were presented with a "confusing and highly misleading" process that was implied to be for their safety, but "was no more than a deceptively designed sales flow" that surrendered their data for GM to sell. The suit contends that at no point was selling driving data ever even suggested as a possibility, putting GM in violation of the state's consumer protection laws. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is seeking a jury trial and at least $10,000 per offense (every GM car sold in the state since 2015) and a hefty add-on of $250,000 in cases where the victim was over 65. Texas seems to be flying high after a recent $1.4 billion settlement from Meta over other privacy concerns. This may well be a way to solve any pending budgetary issues in the Lone Star State.
2019 GMC Sierra revealed with CarbonPro bed and new diesel engine
Thu, Mar 1 2018It's only March, and it's already been one hell of a year for trucks. January's Detroit Auto Show saw the reveals of the 2019 Ram 1500, 2019 Ford Ranger and the 2019 Chevy Silverado. The Chicago Auto Show brought new versions of the Toyota Tacoma and Toyota Tundra TRD Pro. Today, we finally got our first look at the Silverado's twin, the 2019 GMC Sierra. The truck features new styling, a new diesel engine and — on the Sierra Denali — a carbon fiber bed. As with every new full-size truck, the Sierra is larger than the outgoing model in almost every dimension, though exact dimensions haven't been revealed. For reference, though, the Chevy Silverado's bed is 7-inches wider than before. The new Sierra grille is more upright than before and features new C-shaped lighting. The Denali gets LED headlights, tail lights and fog lights. Both SLT and Denali trims get unique 22-inch wheels. As we saw in spy photos, the Sierra's interior is mostly just a copy of the Silverado's with some chrome accents sprinkled throughout. If you like the current truck interiors, you'll be pleased with the new model. Those hoping for a wholesale change will be left wanting. The big improvements inside include a full-color heads-up display, trailer hitch assist apps and cameras, and the rear-camera mirror found in models like the Chevy Traverse and Cadillac CT6. Safety and convenience features include a surround-view camera, blind-spot monitoring, pedestrian detection and low-speed automatic braking. Like the Silverado, there's been a significant effort to cut weight in the new Sierra. The 2019 model loses as much as 360 pounds compared to the current truck. It uses aluminum for the doors, hood and tailgate. Steel is still used for the fenders, roof and standard cargo box. The Denali, however, gets the real surprise here. Available only on the top-tier trim, the bed box will be constructed of carbon fiber rather than steel, saving 62 pounds. Carbon fiber only replaces the steel inner panels and floor. GMC says the carbon fiber will also help scratch and corrosion resistance. SLT and Denali models also get a new MultiPro tailgate. This is unique to the Sierra and separate from the Silverado's power assist unit. A new feature that helps one get into and out of the bed using an assist handle. The tailgate step has a maximum weight capacity of 375 pounds. There multiple positions that allow customers to extend the bed, or drop the center vertically to gain easier access to the back.
GM, Pilot will build EVgo fast chargers at 500 truck stops across U.S.
Thu, Jul 14 2022All of our maps showing electric vehicle charging stations across the U.S. are going to need an update. Today, General Motors, Pilot and EVgo announced plans to work together on a nationwide DC fast charging network. The plan calls for 2,000 charging stalls that can deliver up to 350 kW to be installed at up to 500 Pilot and Flying J travel centers in the U.S. The goal is to have DC fast chargers available in 50-mile intervals across the country. The new charging stations will feature GM's "Ultium Charge 360" branding and "Pilot Flying J" logos but will not be limited to drivers of GM EVs. The plugs will use CCS connectors and be available to anyone. GM EV owners can take advantage of benefits, including the ability to make exclusive reservations, get discounts on charging costs and streamline the charging process with Plug and Charge and in-vehicle apps that can provide real-time charger availability. The first installation phase will take place in 2023, and "the bulk of the installations" should be completed by 2025, EVgo CEO Kathy Zoi said during a conference call with reporters announcing the plan. "We're gonna get going immediately and commence all of that engineering and planning stuff," she said. "We've got a pretty orderly plan." Pilot CEO Shameek Konar said the company expects the new EV charging stations to coexist with the current fuel infrastructure. "An average Pilot Flying J location is about 10 acres," Konar said. "This will be in addition to all of our gas pumps. The way I think about it is, this is a new source of energy that is going to coexist with gas for quite some time. We can debate how long, but we need to serve both groups of customers." Installing DC fast chargers at hundreds of Pilot's travel centers — aka truck stops — means there should be food, drinks, restrooms, WiFi and even showers available while you wait for an EV to charge. Pilot recently announced its “New Horizons” plan that will invest $1 billion in upgrading Pilot travel centers with more premium amenities, including expanded seating and lounge areas. While the exact amount of time it will take to charge an EV using these new stations will vary on the EV and its current state of charge, most EVs can refill from a low state of charge to around 80 percent in 20-30 minutes on a fast charger. The new stations are future-proofed to deliver up to 350 kW, a charge rate that few EVs today can handle.
