1997 GMC Sonoma ZQ8 EXTENDED CAB 3 door - STEP-SIDE BED,
HARD TO FIND TRUCK, LOW MILES,WELL MAINTAINED,
I hate to do this, but i'm selling my Sonoma ZQ8, bought an suv, so dont need the GMC anymore-too many cars,,,
ZQ8 package includes a 2" lowered suspension from the factory front and rear, Bilstein Gas Charged Shocks--and a 3rd shock/damper is mounted on the rear axle to prevent "wheel hop", promoting traction (kind of like traction bars), heavy duty sway bars front and rear, 16x8 alloy wheels, quick ratio steering box which is more responsive to the road and requires 1 full turn less than standard steering box (more steering travel with less work) it rides tight and handles like a sports car.
The 4.3L motor has great power, it also has a new full ACELL tune up kit on it, including: 8mm copper core wires, copper core spark plugs, copper core cap, copper core rotor, also has a JET performance throttle body spacer, new parts at time of tune up include: Fuel filter, pcv valve, throttle position sensor, water pump, all hoses (upper/lower rad and heater core hoses), serpentine belt, thermostat (upgraded to Hypertech thermostat), upper and lower intake manifold gaskets replaced with upgraded fel-pro gaskets (the factory ones are prone to leak, so if you are in the market for an S10 w/the Vortec 4.3L and this hasn't been done yet, beware-it's a very expensive repair), valve cover gaskets were also changed with Fel-Pro (also common on these trucks, and I'm probably forgetting some things, it does need a new muffler but sounds pretty good as is (i was going to put dual exhaust on) and gas gauge doesn't work, there are no leaks & no smoke, it's a powerful truck and it's fast,,, i've got all receipts and they are also included, (all the work was done less than 1000 miles ago)
The front end has been completely rebuilt, including: idler arm, center link, tie rod ends-inner/outer, newer quick ratio steering box and power steering pump (taken from a 2001 extreme with 78k miles), new urethane control arm bushings, also a brand new full set of 4-245/50/16 high performance tires (haven't put the two on the front b/c the old tires had some tread left-i'll have them mounted this week), it has the original ZQ8 16" wheels, brakes have been completely serviced, replaced the brake booster, master cyl, rotors, and brake pads, and the turn signal- hazzard-multi switch has been replaced (also common to go out on these trucks), all lights work as they should.
Every major system has been either replaced or correctly maintained, I also have a brand new a/c system including; compressor and dryer, seals & orifice tube, that go with the truck, (not installed yet). It doesn't have power windows or locks which is what i wanted, (the power windows and locks on these fail terribly and are expensive to repair-also the truck's a little lighter b/c of it), the door panels are in great shape as is the rest of the interior and the windows and locks work as they should.
I have a lot of money in this pick-up truck,, GM no longer makes small trucks only Full-Size trucks, same with ford and others and I felt it was worth investing in, so if your looking for something to hold on to-this is a good one, title is in my name and it's registered, I am a private seller,, (was daily driving it up until a couple months ago).
you won't find another one like it, an Emerald Green on Tan -GMC ZQ8 package-with the 4.3L motor/auto that's this clean, rust free and un-modified is hard to come by, (not like the chevy extreme with the outdated look of the "ground effects" that are normally warped and cracked by now)

GMC Hummer EV infotainment built with Unreal Engine used by 'Fortnite' and 'Rocket League'
Wed, Oct 7 2020We're only a couple weeks away from the reveal of the GMC Hummer EV truck and SUV. And we're expecting a lot of boasting about impressive capability and unique features. What we weren't expecting was for its infotainment system to be built on a video game engine. That's the news that has come out of Epic Games, creators of Unreal Engine, the basis of the Hummer's infotainment system. If you've been an avid video gamer anytime in the last 20 years, Unreal Engine should be recognizable. The first version of it powered Epic's "Unreal" and "Unreal Tournament" games, and more recent versions power multiplayer hits such as Epic's "Fortnite" and Psyonix's "Rocket League." The engine has been licensed out to countless other game developers for titles by both indie developers and large game companies. But its use in the GMC Hummer will be the first time it has powered a production car's infotainment system. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. Epic didn't say which version of Unreal Engine is being used in the Hummer. Presumably it's a version of Unreal Engine 4, since Unreal Engine 5 hasn't been released yet. Also, while Epic released a trailer announcing the partnership and showcasing Unreal's 3D rendering and menu developing tools, it doesn't give us a peak at what the infotainment and instruments of the Hummer will look like. The company does tout fast boot-up times, powerful graphics, and over-the-air updates as useful features included with Unreal. But for a clear look at the final product, we'll have to wait for the October 20 reveal. Related Video:
Car theft skyrockets thanks to rising parts prices
Mon, Feb 19 2018Cars and trucks today have achieved a high level of average quality, with safety and technology features that keep occupants safer than ever and meet consumers' high expectations. But the National Insurance Crime Bureau finds that those components come with a rising price tag, leading to expensive repair bills — and rising vehicle thefts to support a thriving black market for parts. The nonprofit NICB said it looked at the cost of replacement parts for the top 10 stolen 2016 models, with average OEM part prices pulled from a database of more than 24 million vehicle damage appraisals generated for 2016 and 2017 insurance claims. The list did not include major components like engines or transmissions, only easily-stripped components like bumpers, doors, hoods and headlights. It found that: The 2016 Toyota Camry, which had a used market value of around $15,000, had 15 commonly replaced parts that added up to almost $11,000, not including labor, with quarter panels alone costing almost $1,600 a pair and a set of alloy wheels tallying more than $1,600. The Camry was also the top stolen vehicle in 2016 at 1,113 thefts. A 2016 Nissan Altima had 14 standard parts worth more than $14,000, including a single headlamp assembly that costs just over $1,000. The Altima was the second-top stolen vehicle in 2016 at 1,063 vehicles stolen. And the 2016 GMC Sierra pickup, which was No. 7 on the 2016 top-stolen list, rang up $21,000 from 20 standard components, including an $1,100 headlamp assembly and an $1,100 rear bumper. "For the professional theft ring, stealing and stripping vehicles for parts has always been a lucrative business," Jim Schweitzer, NICB's senior vice president and chief operating officer, said in a statement. "On today's cars and trucks, the parts are often worth more than the intact vehicle and may be easier to move and sell. That's why we see so many thefts of key items like wheels and tires and tailgates ... there's always a market for them." Check out the NICB infographic below. Vehicle thefts in the U.S. rose by more than 4 percent in 2017, based on preliminary FBI data, after rising 7.6 percent in 2016, though the overall trend has been down since vehicle thefts peaked in 1991, according to the NICB. Which electric cars can charge at a Tesla Supercharger?
Sun, Jul 9 2023The difference between Tesla charging and non-Tesla charging. Electrify America; Tesla Tesla's advantage has long been its charging technology and Supercharger network. Now, more and more automakers are switching to Tesla's charging tech. But there are a few things non-Tesla drivers need to know about charging at a Tesla station. A lot has hit the news cycle in recent months with regard to electric car drivers and where they can and can't plug in. The key factor in all of that? Whether automakers switched to Tesla's charging standard. More car companies are shifting to Tesla's charging tech in the hopes of boosting their customers' confidence in going electric. Here's what it boils down to: If you currently drive a Tesla, you can keep charging at Tesla charging locations, which use the company's North American Charging Standard (NACS), which has long served it well. The chargers are thinner, more lightweight and easier to wrangle than other brands. If you currently drive a non-Tesla EV, you have to charge at a non-Tesla charging station like that of Electrify America or EVgo — which use the Combined Charging System (CCS) — unless you stumble upon a Tesla charger already equipped with the Magic Dock adapter. For years, CCS tech dominated EVs from everyone but Tesla. Starting next year, if you drive a non-Tesla EV (from the automakers that have announced they'll make the switch), you'll be able to charge at all Supercharger locations with an adapter. And by 2025, EVs from some automakers won't even need an adaptor. Here's how to charge up, depending on which EV you have: Ford 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E. Tim Levin/Insider Ford was the earliest traditional automaker to team up with Tesla for its charging tech. Current Ford EV owners — those driving a Ford electric vehicle already fitted with a CCS port — will be able to use a Tesla-developed adapter to access Tesla Superchargers starting in the spring. That means that, if you own a Mustang Mach-E or Ford F-150 Lightning, you will need the adapter in order to use a Tesla station come 2024. But Ford will equip its future EVs with the NACS port starting in 2025 — eliminating the need for any adapter. Owners of new Ford EVs will be able to pull into a Supercharger station and juice up, no problem. General Motors Cadillac Lyriq. Cadillac GM will also allow its EV drivers to plug into Tesla stations.
