Classic 1978 Crew Cab Pick-up Truck- Model Tc3 on 2040-cars
Ocala, Florida, United States
Mileage: 172,468
Make: GMC
Model: Sierra 2500
This is a classic GMC truck 1978 owned by my late husband. Its weight is 2700, class is commercial, two axels, and her mileage is 172,468. The vehicle was totally restored in 1983 with a new engine installed in 1984. It has twin diesel tanks one on each side in rear, a locked tool box and a large hitch for towing. It's interior is all customized with blue crushed velour, a sleeping area with pillows and built in reading lights.
All the original equipment is intact including CB. It has a six track player, no gps, no cCD player or any upgrades or additions since the period of the early 80's.
The vehicle was put into storage in 1995 and has never been moved or driven or started since that time. The storage area she is housed in is in an aviation community in Ocala, Florida, a private hangar, museum that is heated and airconditioned, thus she is quite pristine. I believe my late husband may have drained all the fluids for protecting the truck as that was his habit with any vehicles that were in the museum. He may have also replaced those fluids with others used for the purpose of storing, knowing the truck was not going to be run but I am not sure.
It does not have any airconditioning that I know of as my husband was an Air Canada Captain and this vehicle was purchased in Canada. I still have the bill of sale. Sometime in the beginning of 2004, it became part of a corporation, which is now defunct.
I do remember he said "make sure no one starts up the truck until the fluids are in order. I will try to work that out on my end, but I have no experience with trucks or "heavy equipment," like my husband did. This truly is all the information that I know about this vehicle at this time.
I found all of the service records and original bills for the work on the truck after his passing. They amounted to over $31,000.00. HE LIKED PROJECTS.

GM recall woes continue with 662,000 pickups trucks and Cruze sedans
Sat, 29 Mar 2014General Motors can't seem to get its name out of the "bad news" column. Two more recalls were announced late Friday evening that will see The General calling in 490,200 fullsize pickup trucks and SUVs, along with 172,000 Chevrolet Cruze models.
For those keeping track, General Motors has issued recalls for an alarming 4.8 million vehicles so far since last month.
The Chevy Silverado 1500, Tahoe and Suburban, GMC Sierra 1500 and Yukon models from the 2014 and 2015 model years are being recalled for a flaw in their transmissions wherein loose oil cooler lines may cause a fire. The automaker said in a statement (see below) that it knows of three incidents of loose transmission lines causing problems, but no injuries. We can't confirm whether it was this transmission issue that caused the widely publicized blaze that consumed a 2015 GMC Yukon that was being test driven in California.
GMC could have used Jeep's prized grille design on its born-again Hummer
Fri, Jan 31 2020General Motors confirmed it's bringing the Hummer nameplate back on an electric, GMC-badged pickup by publishing a dark photo of its front end. The battery-powered drivetrain under the sheetmetal represents a tectonic shift, but we noticed another flagrant break with tradition: it wears six slot-like inserts instead of seven like on every previous Hummer and countless Jeeps. Adding an extra slot wouldn't have landed GMC in hot water. The seven-slot grille has historically been associated with Jeep, and the company proved it's willing to go to significant lengths to ensure another automaker — especially one it perceives as a rival — doesn't use it. Parent company Fiat-Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) bitterly sued Mahindra over the Roxor's design, including its five-slot grille, and won in 2019, forcing the Indian firm to unveil a redesigned side-by-side for the 2020 model year. And yet, stylists would have very likely been able to get away with it on the Hummer. While General Motors owns Hummer, the brand traces its ancestry to 1970, when American Motors Corporation (AMC) purchased Jeep from Kaiser and changed the name of its General Products Division to AM General Corp. The division manufactured the rear-wheel drive, CJ-based DJ for the United States Postal Service and began developing the Humvee in 1979. Jeep and AM General went their separate ways when Renault began investing in AMC. Foreign companies weren't allowed to own defense contractors, and AMC had more to gain by gradually selling out to Renault than by keeping AM General, so it divested the division to LTV Corporation in 1983. Humvee production started shortly after, but no one protested its seven-slot grille because there was no risk of it stealing sales from a comparable Jeep model. It was manufactured exclusively for the U.S. Army, and civilian sales weren't planned. H2SUV View 4 Photos The original civilian Hummer released in 1992 must have raised more than a few eyebrows but, here again, it didn't directly compete with one of Jeep's off-roaders, so no one complained. It was huge, correspondingly expensive, and its portal axles made the YJ-generation Wrangler wet its pants. It's the H2 concept (pictured above) unveiled at the 2000 Detroit Auto Show that set off alarm bells in Auburn Hills. DaimlerChrysler's lawyers counted the slots in the chrome-plated insert that dominated its front end and shuddered when they reached seven.
GM mulling off-road variants of fullsize SUVs
Tue, 24 Sep 2013According to General Motors, owners "just love off-roading with [its fullsize body-on-frame sport utility vehicles]," namely the 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban and GMC Yukon. If that's the case, it's a bit odd that sales of the previous generation of these models with the Z71 off-road package didn't sell particularly well.
Perhaps, considering this disconnect between owner's thoughts and desires with actual sales, it's not surprising that General Motors is reportedly "considering" an off-road specific model. That means the package would include styling changes and badges along with suspension modifications and larger wheels with appropriately sized fender flares.
There's no indication if the off-road model would be called Z71 or when it may potentially go on sale, assuming it ever goes on sale at all.
