For sale is my 1972 GMC 2500 custom pickup truck. I’ve owned the truck since 2006, originally from Arizona. When I bought the truck it had 62,000, now a little over 76,000. Everything in this truck is numbers matching. The motor was rebuilt shortly after getting the truck, at 66,000. Oil pump quit. We had new pistons put in to accommodate regular gas, put a Edelbrock manifold, Holly carburetor, Mallory ignition.

I still have all the original manifold, carb, water pump, exhaust manifolds for anyone wanting to return it to a perfect restoration. I put a set of American racing rims on the car. I also have the spare as a match to the rims on the truck. The original rims are gone; they were 16-1/2 inch rims that had few tire options for so out they went. We repainted the truck in 2007, Dupont base coat/ clear coat. The paint is not perfect any more, door dings and chips. Transmission rebuilt at the same time as the engine.

We replaced all the seals in the rear end and bearings. New brakes, new drums on the back, master cylinder. This truck has duel batteries, a 2 ton Warn wench from 1972 on the front. We replaced the trailer brake system with a new one. New windshield, new rubber front and back. Front seat reupholstered. I live 1 mile from LMC trucks so most everything on the truck has been replaced, door handles, marker lights, so on and so on.
All the options on the truck work, factory tack, oil pressure gage, interior light, A/C. The bed on this truck is a work bed that was on the truck when I bought it, so we stripped the paint off of it and mounted it properly on the frame, replaced all of the seals on the doors. It has new matching locks on all the doors that work.

The truck is being sold as is. It is a great truck ready to have some fun in and not worry too much about using it, it’s a truck! The truck has a reserve way below what I insured for so I can get it down the road. We reserve the right to end this auction as the truck will be in the local papers also.

2015 Chevy Silverado, GMC Sierra can tow up to 12,000 pounds

Thu, 19 Jun 2014

Think back to the launch of the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado. At the time, General Motors happily trumpeted that its fullsize pickup could tow up to 11,500 pounds when properly equipped - impressive stuff, no doubt. But now, revised tow rating practices have been put into place, called SAE J2807. And with these new methods of testing, GM can now officially rate both the Silverado and its GMC Sierra twin as being able to tow up to 12,000 pounds.
Of course, not all Silverado and Sierra models are capable of this feat. In fact, because of SAE J2807, most of the truck models have actually had decreases in tow ratings from the 2014 to 2015 model year. For example, a 2014 Silverado Crew Cab with the 5.3-liter V8, 5.7-foot box and 3.73 rear axle was rated at 11,200 pounds in 2014, but has since been reduced to 10,800 in 2015. Same goes for the Sierra.
But for 2015, both the Silverado and Sierra can be had with a more powerful 6.2-liter V8, as well as a Max Trailering Package that includes a 9.76-inch rear axle, heavy-duty rear springs, revised shock tuning, improved cooling and a new trailer brake controller. There are also four- and seven-pin, bumper-mounted connectors, a trailer hitch (duh), and a G80 locking rear differential. This configuration, with either model, is the only way you can actually tow 12,000 pounds.

Next-gen Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra may use carbon fiber

Thu, Dec 7 2017

It's been generally accepted that the next generation of full-size GM trucks will use some sort of strong, lightweight material for the beds while retaining steel for the cab. While aluminum seems like the most obvious choice, according to Automotive News, the Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra will incorporate both aluminum and carbon fiber in their beds. The publication cites sources from within GM, though it seems the introduction of this comparatively exotic material mix is still a few years off. While carbon fiber is both stronger and lighter than steel and aluminum, it takes significantly more time and money to produce, essentially relegating the material to small-volume cars. The main benefit for trucks is the resulting reduction in weight to improve fuel economy without sacrificing the tough, rugged capabilities truck buyers expect. The Ford F-150 made the switch to aluminum for the 2015 model year and it's proved highly successful. It seemed like it was only a matter of time before the competition followed suit. Automotive News says that the next-gen trucks will launch with aluminum beds and that it will take a couple of years before we'll see any carbon fiber incorporated into the design. Even then, only look for the composite material on higher-trim models, with a trickle down to lower-spec trucks possible further in the future. In 2011, GM announced it was working with Japan-based Teijin Limited on a carbon fiber reinforced thermoplastic. There's a good chance that material's introduction will be on trucks. Hot air balloons caught in high winds drag fullsize SUV

Mon, Jul 20 2015

A sudden storm front whipped up enough wind to send some hot air balloons flying into the air in Wisconsin over the weekend. One ballon proved so energetic that it was able to drag a fullsize SUV across a field and into a stand of tents. The freak accident occurred at Balloonfest in Waterford, Wisconsin. Spectators were horrified as balloons dragged handlers to the ground and launched with terrified pilots clinging to their baskets. Organizers had started packing up the colorful balloons due to ominous storm clouds when the wind kicked up. "Happened just like that; it was crazy," Nathan Fricke, crew member, told Fox 6. Winds were clocked at 40 to 50 miles per hour. A balloon caught in the wind dragged a large SUV (we think a Suburban or Yukon XL) hundreds of feet and into a cluster of tents on the edge of the staging area where balloons were on display for festival goers. Considering that the SUV surely weighs well over 5,000 pounds, it's lucky that no one was injured in the incident. News Source: Fox6Now Weird Car News Chevrolet GM GMC SUV
