2017 GMC Acadia coming to Detroit Auto Show

Well, it's about time. If there's one group of vehicles that are in serious need of an update, it's the GM Lambda crossovers. You know, the Chevy Traverse, GMC Acadia, and Buick Enclave. They're super old. Good thing, then, that the brand-new Acadia is coming to the Detroit Auto Show next week, as evidenced by this teaser image found on the company's Facebook page. There's not much to see here, except for an LED taillamp signature on what appears to be a much cleaner rear end. We expect the three-row CUV to feature all of the latest GM tech, including a robust infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. V6 power and optional all-wheel drive makes sense here, too, though we won't rule out some kind of four-cylinder option. When GM launched the Lambda crossovers, the Acadia arrived first in late 2006, alongside the now-discontinued (but still very much present in the current Acadia) Saturn Outlook. The Buick Enclave came next, and the Chevy Traverse arrived after that. It's unclear if GM will stick with this rollout plan, of course, but one thing's for sure: all-new versions of these CUVs cannot come soon enough. Related Video:

GM seatbelt recall affects over 1m Silverados and Sierras

The Basics: General Motors will recall 895,232 examples of the 2014-2015 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 1500 pickups in the US. The campaign will also affect the trucks in markets worldwide, and the total number the company will recall is 1,037,982. The Problem: A steel cable connects the seatbelt to the vehicle, but over time repeated bending can cause the part to fatigue and separate. Injuries/Deaths: None reported. The Fix: Dealers will enlarge the side shield opening and install a pusher bracket on the tensioner. Technicians will also replace the entire tensioner assembly if necessary. If You Own One: GM will contact owners about the recall. The company hasn't said when those notifications would begin. More Information: There are still about 3,000 new examples of these older pickups at dealerships. Until mechanics fix the problem, these vehicles are subject to a stop-sale. Similar problems have affected the General's vehicles in the past. In 2015, the company recalled over 400,000 units of the 2011-2012 Chevrolet Malibu for fatiguing cables. It also hit over a million Lambda platform crossovers in 2014. This issue was discovered through warranty data, and there have been no reports of crashes, injuries or fatalities related to this issue. 2014 Chevy Silverado, GMC Sierra full configurators truck in

You can now put prices to your wildest option-sheet dreams of the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra. A microsite for the full-size pickup truck twins has been up since January, and now the full-blown configurator is live and ready to take your virtual orders. The only two chassis configurations available at the moment are the Crew Cab with either a short or standard bed - Regular and Double Cab versions will come later. In Silverado flavors that will run you $32,710 for the short box, $33,010 for the standard box, while the Sierra adds a $1,500 premium to both of those prices, and destination and handling for both models adds another $995.
Since these are American pickups the list of modifications is lengthy, but we added $11,450 in just two steps by starting with the Silverado Crew Cab and standard bed, then checking four-wheel drive and the LTZ Z71 package. Our final truck, resplendent in Brownstone Metallic paint, heated and cooled Cocoa/Dune perforated leather seating and tasty details like chrome recovery hooks, and engine block heater and LED cargo box lighting, rang up $57,285 at the candy store.
They'll be on dealer lots sometime this summer, so now's a good time to start practicing your box-checking.
