2019 GMC Sierra 1500 All Terrain spied with raised suspension, off-road tires

The 2019 GMC Sierra is here, though we've only seen the two top-tier trims, SLT and Denali. As past spy shots show, the Chevy Silverado's corporate sibling has more on the way. We now have a new batch of images showing what looks like the new All Terrain package, sort of a GMC equivalent to the Silverado's Trail Boss guise. The current All Terrain package is available in three different tiers on the Sierra SLT: All Terrain, All Terrain SLT Premium and All Terrain X. In addition to equipment from the Z71 package (skid plates, suspension upgrades), the All Terrain package adds Rancho shocks, an Eaton locking rear differential and more aggressive tires. There are some additional features and appearance changes, too. The more aggressive All Terrain X adds things like a cat-back exhaust and Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tires. The truck in these spy shots is definitely wearing different wheels and tires than the Sierras we've previously seen. It also looks like it's sitting a little higher, just like the Silverado Trail Boss. This also looks to be an SLT model as it doesn't have the MultiPro tailgate. Expect the 5.3-liter and 6.2-liter V8s to return, but don't rule out a diesel-powered Sierra All Terrain sometime down the line. Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. GM recalls trucks and SUVs for brake pedal problem

The Basics: General Motors will recall over 473,000 North American examples of the 2015-2016 Chevrolet Silverado HD, GMC Sierra HD, and police pursuit versions of the Chevy Tahoe. These include 426,573 vehicles in the US and 46,837 in Canada, according to Reuters. The Problem: The brake pivot nut can loosen over time, which can render the pedal inoperative. This would be a danger to drivers trying to stop the vehicles. In some cases, the "Service Engine Soon" light might come on. Injuries/Deaths: None reported. The Fix: Dealers will inspect the pivot bolt, and if necessary they will apply adhesive to it and reinstall the part with increased torque. Correction: Dealers will inspect the pivot bolt installation to determine whether the vehicle has already received the production remedy. If not, the dealer will add adhesive to the nut, and reinstall the nut at an increased torque. 2018 GMC Yukon Denali gets a sculpted new grille

More than half of all GMC Yukon and Yukon XL models sold wear top-level Denali trim. That's a profitable scenario for the automaker, so, perhaps above all else, GMC needs its premium Denali series of vehicles to continue to stand out in a line of trucks and SUVs at the dealership lot. Hence, chrome, and lots of it. But for 2018, GMC is blessing the behemoth Yukon Denali with an added dose of class with a new multi-dimensional grille. "The new grille, which is flanked by HID headlamps and LED Signature Lighting, advances the design legacy established with the very first Yukon Denali in 1999," said Matt Noone, director of Global GMC Exterior Design. In addition to a sophisticated new look, the grille adds customizable cooling capabilities to the Denali range. Active shutters open when additional cooling is needed, or close to reduce aerodynamic drag when the engine isn't too warm. Further increasing the efficiency of the big brutish 'ute is a new 10-speed automatic transmission. That's two extra gears over the 2017 Yukon Denali, leading to a numerically lower final drive to help save fuel at highway speeds. Inside, Mastique Ash wood trim differentiates the 2018 model from previous years. A 420-horsepower 6.2-liter V8 engine remains standard for 2018, as do blingy 20-inch wheels with 22 inchers optional.
