1997 Chevrolet C1500 Crew Cab Short Bed 1500 on 2040-cars

This is a 1997 Chevrolet C-1500 2wd, real 4 door crew cab, built by Centurion Conversion company.

I will give some history on these trucks, if you are not familiar, GM did not make a crew cab Silverado 1500 (1/2 ton, 5 lug) in the 90's. (They only made the 1500 in regular cab or ext cab, or crew cabs in 2500, or 3500, 8-lug.) Centurion took a regular cab short bed, straight off the GM assembly line, stretched the frame, and bought all genuine GM parts, (cab and interior parts) and made these crew cab short beds. They then sent them to the GM dealers to sell as new trucks. This conversion costs $18,000, plus the msrp of the original truck was around $21,000. These truck were not cheap. These truck are very rare, rumor is they only made about 100 of them per year, (from 1995-1998). Just a quick note, because of the conversion, the VIN and registration shows as a regular cab 2 door truck.

The truck is dark polo green with grey interior. 5.7L 350 V8, 4 speed auto, trailer hitch. VERY LOW MILES, only 95,670. (I am still driving the truck, so the mileage will go up a little) When the previous owner got it here, he installed a new belt, fuel filter, K&N air filter, Optima yellow top battery, had the oil changed, tinted the windows all around , and installed a new CD radio with USB connector for your Ipod. The previous owner bought the truck from the original owner, that had it for 14 years, 6 months. . It was located in NV, and had been garage kept all it's life. He had it shipped to him in South Florida. I bought the truck a bought to years ago. I flow out to Florida made the transaction and drove it back to me in NY. (drove like a dream).

It was a desert and southern truck, NO rust at ALL. The interior is almost perfect, I would say 8.5 out of 10. The truck had  a carpeted dash cover(that the original owner installed, so the dash is perfect). The previous owner added custom made floor mats front and rear when he got it. It has a 40/60 split bench seat in the front, and a bench seat in the back, hold 6 very comfortably. The passenger front door has 3 small door dings in it (I would assume they could be taken out by a paint-less dent guy) the hood also has two dings. The paint has some scratches in it nothing major, but from 5 feet away you can't even see them. The paint is still very good, and shines nice, (except the roof and tops of the doors, it's now faded, it just doesn't shine like the rest of the truck). I was going to have a detail shop do a good buff out the paint, but just never had it done.

After i purchased the truck i lowered it 4 in the front and 6 in the rear . the front was lowered with spindles, coils and custom shocks. In the rear i did a flip kit and new custom shocks. Also installed helper bags with two separate air valves for height if i add a load in the rear. I did keep all the original parts. Never did any performance work to motor or trans at all.

i also add a tonneau bed cover as well

The truck runs and drives great. It gets about 20 mpg on the highway.  The truck never saw snow or salt. garaged in the winter.

The stock tires have a lot of tread left on them(rims are plastic dipped in black), one is missing a trim ring.  The Aftermarket rims are 20" and have great tires with only about 1000 mile on them .

I searched long and hard to find this truck. But just went through a divorce and need to sell it. I will pass this one on to someone else. It is available to be looked at New City, N.Y.  Any questions please ask. I have the clean N.Y. title on hand in my name ready to sign over.

Sorry for the bad pics.

GM natural gas-powered vans recalled due to possible leak

Wed, Sep 24 2014

General Motors is recalling almost 3,200 of its compressed-natural-gas powered utility vans because of possible leaks. GM and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) released a notice last week saying that 3,196 Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana CNG vans are on recall, though no accidents have been reported due to the possible issue. The recall is specifically for vans for model years ranging from 2011 to 2014. The recall stems from a potential leak from the compressed natural gas high-pressure regulator, and such a leak could cause a fire or explosion. GM will replace the vehicles' high-pressure regulator in order to fix the problem, will do it free of charge and is instructing owners to contact Chevrolet or GMC customer service to arrange for the parts replacement. Utility vehicle makers like General Motors have pushed for fleet sales of CNG-powered vans and trucks for the past few years and have touted them for their cheaper refueling costs relative to standard gasoline, not to mention the fact that natural gas can be readily sourced from throughout North America (thanks, fracking). According to CNGPrices.com, compressed natural gas sells for about $2.22 a gallon, on average, while the AAA is pegging the average price of gas at $3.34 a gallon. NHTSA has posted information on the recall here. Featured Gallery News Source: NHTSA via Reuters Green Chevrolet GM GMC Natural Gas Vehicles CNG gmc savana

Hummer EV to be sold at only about half of GMC dealerships

Mon, Oct 26 2020

The new 1,000-horsepower Hummer EV will be sold under the GMC brand, but you won't find it in every GMC showroom. Currently, just about half of GMC's dealers have agreed to take on the electric truck, Buick GMC VP Duncan Aldred told investors on a conference call last week. According to Muscle Cars and Trucks, there are a number of reasons for the irregular availability. For one, there's the cost of upgrading dealerships to sell and service a fully electric vehicle. Stores would need to be upgraded with charging stations, and service centers would require new tools and training to work on an EV. Then there's the customer experience. At $112,595, the initial Hummer EV Edition 1 caters to a different clientele than the traditional GMC truck. The planned EV3X trim level that arrives in late 2022 and EV2X arriving in spring 2023 will start at just below $100,000 and $90,000, respectively. Some sellers believe that customers paying six figures for a vehicle will expect certain niceties that will necessitate showroom upgrades as well. Complimentary doughnuts, at least. Furthermore, not all GMC dealerships are located in areas with customers willing to shell out that much cabbage for a new vehicle, especially an EV. An $80,000 base trim will be available in 2024, so perhaps more dealers will be willing to take on the truck by then. Finally, there's the Hummer EV's no-haggle pricing. Aldred was adamant on the call that customers see the same price on the internet as they do on the paperwork. It's part of the premium dealership experience that GMC wants to provide for its well-heeled clientele. Still, GMC appears to have no problem moving all the Hummer EVs it can build. Even with its lofty price tag, all Edition 1 trucks were sold out 10 minutes after GMC's announcement. Related Video:

GM Issues Four New Recalls For 90,000 Vehicles

Fri, Jun 6 2014

One day after releasing an internal report that found a pattern of "incompetence and neglect" within the company, General Motors announced four more recalls that affect 89,126 vehicles. One of the recalls affects 31,520 vehicles that may contain a defect that could prevent airbags from deploying in a car accident. GM said it was aware of at least one crash in which a vehicle occupant sustained an injury because the airbags didn't deploy when they should have. The company said it was aware of other crashes that were similar in nature, but it is not yet known whether they're related to the condition, in which the shorting bar inside the driver's airbag may occasionally contact the airbag terminals. If the car and terminals are touching each other in a crash, the bags will not deploy. Vehicles from the 2012 model year are affected by the problem, and they include the Buick Verano, Chevrolet Camaro, Cruze and Sonic. GM has conducted two previous recalls for this condition involving 7,116 cars. GM is also recalling 57,512 models of the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 and 2015 Silverado HD, Tahoe and Surburan, as well as the 2015 GMC Sierra HD, Yukon and Yukon XL models because their radio control modules may not work, and thus prevent certain audible safety warnings. Certain models of the 2013-2014 Chevrolet Spark and 2013 Buick Encore are being recalled for a different airbag problem, which could prevent airbags from deploying properly during a crash. And 33 2014 Chevrolet Corvettes are being recalled for yet another airbag problem, in which an internal short circuit could disable the airbags. So far in 2014, General Motors has issued 34 separate recalls that affect approximately 15.9 million vehicles – more than the company has sold in the past five years combined. GM Announces Four Recalls DETROIT – General Motors today announced three safety recalls and one non-compliance recall, all of which were reported to the NHTSA on Thursday, June 5, 2014. In all cases, customers will receive letters from GM letting them know when they can bring their vehicles into a dealership, where all repairs will be performed free of charge and courtesy transportation would be provided as needed.
