This is a very nice driver. It is not show quality but would not take much more work to get it there if that's what you want. I built this truck to drive but life happens and I need to sell it. This truck has lots of custom body work done to it. All the handles have been shaved as well as cab seams and bed rails. Roll pan has been added in place of bumper and the rear step on the stepside has been shaved adding a nice clean look to the rear end of the truck. The bed has a nice spray in bed liner that matches the silver paint on the hood. Paint is an 8 of 10. There are a few blemishes that aren't noticeable unless you are right up on the truck. It could use some buffing in a few places but you can't tell unless you are right up on it. There is little if any orange peel and the truck will buff to a mirror finish. Inside and out this is a very clean truck that sits and drives nice and you will get many compliments going down the road. The Odometer shows 80,000 miles but that is NOT correct. I have no clue how many miles are on this truck. When I bought the truck, the speedometer wasn't working and I have no idea how long it was out.

The engine (5.7 Vortec TBI) has less than 10,000 miles on it and runs great with plenty of power. The transmission (700r) shifts smooth and doesn't slip. The trans does have about 150,000 miles on it though so it probably wont be long before it will need some attention. The motor doesn't leak oil anywhere. The transmission does start to leak if it isn't driven in a while...once you drive it a bit it doesn't leak anymore. As it is now, I would drive it anywhere. In fact if you buy it, I will drive it to you for a small fee and a plane ticket home or I will meet you at the San Antonio International Airport.

The interior is super clean. It has black Mercedes leather seats with a center console that folds up to make an additional seat. I had it set up to run my ipod/phone out of an amp but never got around to buying the amp. There are new speakers at all four corners and are wired and ready to go. At this point you could do whatever you like; all you need to do is hook up the speakers and there is plenty of wire. I put a rubber floor mat in it because I like to be able to just wipe down the floor. Under the mat is some nice sound deadening material which makes for quiet driving when the a/c is on. Yes, the A/C blows ice cold air!

This truck doesn't need a thing. There are some things I was going to work on to make it nicer. I was going to get the correct side marker/reflector lights for the grill. The ones in there now aren't the right ones and look bad once you notice them. The passenger side door control panel (the part that has the switches) pops out sometimes which is an easy fix...I just haven't done it as I'm missing some clips. I was also going to spray in some more U-Pol Raptor bedliner. It looks really good right now but there are a couple spots that I would like to hit again to make it perfect. When I sprayed the bed, I also sprayed under the hood which looks really nice. I was also going to run dual exhaust and tint the windows. The exhaust sounds really good right now and there isn't a thing wrong with it...not too loud or too quiet...but I like the look of duals so that was on the list. There is still some overspray on the back window. I was going to tape it off and repaint the moulding around the window ... I just didn't get it done. The back window is really the only thing that needs attention. To me it's just ugly and old looking since the factory paint is peeling off of it. Most people wouldn't even notice it...but it bugs me because I went to all the trouble filling the seams and the window takes away from the work that was done.

I just had the A/C serviced by a certified mechanic and it blows ice cold. The compressor seams a bit loud to me but he says its normal for the older model trucks.

Tires are brand new all the way around and the brakes were recently redone.

The driver's door pops open with a viper alarm remote...the alarm works very well, too. The passenger door pops open with the factory lock/unlock switch on the driver's door. Yes, there is also a manual release if you get locked out.

I have been as thorough as possible in this listing. I have done my best to describe this truck accurately and many of the "problems" I mentioned you probably wouldn't even notice.

If you have any questions, feel free to call me. 830 928 0816. I have clear title in my name and will update this ad if something else comes to mind.

This truck is for sale locally, so I reserve the right to end the auction early. The vehicle will not leave my house until the money is in my bank.

Roadkill pits every project car against each other

Sat, 22 Feb 2014

The guys behind Motor Trend's monthly Roadkill series have collected nine of their favorite project cars from their videos and pitted them against each other in a battle royale to determine a winner. It's 44 minutes long, but it's completely worth the investment of time.
The cars run the gamut from a 1973 Chevrolet Ramp Truck, a 1975 AMC Pacer and a legitimately impressive 1967 Chevy Camaro, and they are pitted against each other to see which is the fastest around an autocross course. The drivers include Roadkill's two hosts and Motor Trend's Johnny Lieberman and Carlos Lago. It's reminiscent of the best episodes of Top Gear and worth a watch.
So it's the weekend - the perfect time to relax. Grab your preferred beverage, get comfortable and enjoy 44 minutes of some seriously ratty but utterly cool project cars as they are throttled within an inch of their lives (or past it). Scroll down to check out the video.

2019 GMC Sierra revealed with CarbonPro bed and new diesel engine

Thu, Mar 1 2018

It's only March, and it's already been one hell of a year for trucks. January's Detroit Auto Show saw the reveals of the 2019 Ram 1500, 2019 Ford Ranger and the 2019 Chevy Silverado. The Chicago Auto Show brought new versions of the Toyota Tacoma and Toyota Tundra TRD Pro. Today, we finally got our first look at the Silverado's twin, the 2019 GMC Sierra. The truck features new styling, a new diesel engine and — on the Sierra Denali — a carbon fiber bed. As with every new full-size truck, the Sierra is larger than the outgoing model in almost every dimension, though exact dimensions haven't been revealed. For reference, though, the Chevy Silverado's bed is 7-inches wider than before. The new Sierra grille is more upright than before and features new C-shaped lighting. The Denali gets LED headlights, tail lights and fog lights. Both SLT and Denali trims get unique 22-inch wheels. As we saw in spy photos, the Sierra's interior is mostly just a copy of the Silverado's with some chrome accents sprinkled throughout. If you like the current truck interiors, you'll be pleased with the new model. Those hoping for a wholesale change will be left wanting. The big improvements inside include a full-color heads-up display, trailer hitch assist apps and cameras, and the rear-camera mirror found in models like the Chevy Traverse and Cadillac CT6. Safety and convenience features include a surround-view camera, blind-spot monitoring, pedestrian detection and low-speed automatic braking. Like the Silverado, there's been a significant effort to cut weight in the new Sierra. The 2019 model loses as much as 360 pounds compared to the current truck. It uses aluminum for the doors, hood and tailgate. Steel is still used for the fenders, roof and standard cargo box. The Denali, however, gets the real surprise here. Available only on the top-tier trim, the bed box will be constructed of carbon fiber rather than steel, saving 62 pounds. Carbon fiber only replaces the steel inner panels and floor. GMC says the carbon fiber will also help scratch and corrosion resistance. SLT and Denali models also get a new MultiPro tailgate. This is unique to the Sierra and separate from the Silverado's power assist unit. A new feature that helps one get into and out of the bed using an assist handle. The tailgate step has a maximum weight capacity of 375 pounds. There multiple positions that allow customers to extend the bed, or drop the center vertically to gain easier access to the back.

Ford F-150, Chevy Silverado, Toyota Tundra flunk IIHS headlight test

Tue, Oct 25 2016

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety put pickup truck headlights to the test and found that the majority of them were equipped with subpar units. The 2017 Honda Ridgeline was the only truck to earn a rating of "good." The large pickup truck test was comprised of the: 2016 to 2017 GMC Sierra, 2017 Nissan Titan, 2016 Ram 1500, 2016 to 2017 Chevrolet Silverado, 2016 to 2017 Ford F-150, and 2016 to 2017 Toyota Tundra. The Sierra's headlights earned a rating of "acceptable," the headlights found on the Titan and Ram 1500 were found to be "marginal," and the ones on the Silverado, F-150, and Tundra were rated as "poor." IIHS claims the F-150 was the most disappointing out of the large pickup trucks as both its halogen and optional LED headlights failed to provide adequate visibility during testing. The Ridgeline (which earned a "good rating"), is usually considered a midsize or small truck, though IIHS included it in the field of large pickups. The headlights on the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado, 2016 GMC Canyon, 2016 Nissan Frontier, and 2016 to 2017 Toyota Tacoma, which made up the small pickup truck group, all earned a rating of "poor." The IIHS claimed the Colorado had the worst headlights of any truck that was tested, as the base vehicle's units were only able to illuminate up to 123 feet in front of the car. The Ridgeline's headlights, for reference, were able to illuminate up to 358 feet in front of the vehicle. To conduct its test, the IIHS utilizes a special tool to measure how far light is projected out of the headlights in different driving situations. The trucks' headlights were tested in a straight line and in corners, while vehicles with high-beam assist were given extra praise. The headlights on the pickup trucks also mimic the testing that was done on small SUVs and cars earlier this year. Next year, automakers will need to fit their vehicles with headlights that earn a rating of either good or acceptable to earn the IIHS Top Safety Pick+. Related Video:
