1977 Gmc Sierra 1500 Half Ton Pick Up on 2040-cars
Burlington, Illinois, United States
1977 GMC Sierra 1500 stepside pickup truck, original purchased in Arizona, rust free and relatively low mileage (81,965 original miles). Garage kept for last 20 years in the Chicago area (at least), has not been driven in rain or snow since older restoration (perhaps 25 years ago). Transmission was just rebuilt ($2,000) less than 100 miles ago, engine rebuilt approx. 6,000 miles ago. Owner indicated that the engine when rebuilt had oversize pistons installed, but did not remember what size they were bored to at the time he purchased the truck. The large 454 Chevrolet Big Block V-8 engine has power to spare, and can burn off the relatively low mileage tires easily if you don’t ease up on the pedal. The truck was painted perhaps 10 years ago or more, but still retains a great shine. Only two very tiny chips in an otherwise nearly perfect paint job, this truck with a little detailing could be almost show quality. Everything works, to include factory air conditioning, this excellently maintained truck needs virtually nothing, either mechanically or aesthetically. Excellent running and looking truck. Power brakes, power steering, automatic transmission, everything works as it should. Please call Duane @ (847) 890-3258 with any questions concerning the condition of the truck, or if you require an inspection prior to bidding. Truck is available for inspection in Marengo, IL upon request. |

GM to make most cars LTE hotspots for 2015
Mon, 25 Feb 2013General Motors isn't the first automaker to deliver in-car Internet access, but a proposed plan announced today could make the technology more widespread than any of its competitors have offered. By the 2015 model year, most Chevrolet, Buick, Cadillac and GMC products in the US and Canada will offer 4G LTE mobile broadband access. Initially, GM will just be pairing with AT&T to deliver this service, but additional carriers will be revealed in the future.
Current in-car Wi-Fi hot spots are limited to 3G, but GM says that 4G LTE is 10 times faster than 3G service and will allow for full Internet access, including streaming video for entertainment as well as services like real-time traffic updates and navigation driving directions. There is also no need for a paired smartphone with this new system, which should make it easier to use, and GM and AT&T will also be working together to develop new apps for customers.
Buyers can expect to start seeing 4G LTE in their cars starting next year, and GM is already planning to expand the service to other global markets as well. All of the information from GM's announcement is posted in a press release below.
11 vehicles from Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas worth watching
Fri, 26 Sep 2014This weekend will see the world's collector car crowds descend on Las Vegas, NV for one of the biggest shows on Barrett-Jackson's popular auction circuit. There are hundreds of vehicles up for bidding, ranging from a brand-new Lamborghini Aventador to a spattering of Art Deco classics and a huge swath of classic muscle cars.
While it's virtually impossible to assemble an inarguable list of the best cars coming during the three-day, 700-plus vehicle auction, we've sifted through the listings for this year's show - it was a tough assignment, we promise - and assembled a list of what we think will be some of the most interesting lots. We'll admit, it's a bit heavy on American iron, but if you browse BJ's listings, you'll come to a similar conclusion. Still, scroll down for our list of what we think will be the most interesting vehicles at the upcoming auction.
GMC Hummer EV infotainment built with Unreal Engine used by 'Fortnite' and 'Rocket League'
Wed, Oct 7 2020We're only a couple weeks away from the reveal of the GMC Hummer EV truck and SUV. And we're expecting a lot of boasting about impressive capability and unique features. What we weren't expecting was for its infotainment system to be built on a video game engine. That's the news that has come out of Epic Games, creators of Unreal Engine, the basis of the Hummer's infotainment system. If you've been an avid video gamer anytime in the last 20 years, Unreal Engine should be recognizable. The first version of it powered Epic's "Unreal" and "Unreal Tournament" games, and more recent versions power multiplayer hits such as Epic's "Fortnite" and Psyonix's "Rocket League." The engine has been licensed out to countless other game developers for titles by both indie developers and large game companies. But its use in the GMC Hummer will be the first time it has powered a production car's infotainment system. This content is hosted by a third party. Presumably it's a version of Unreal Engine 4, since Unreal Engine 5 hasn't been released yet. Also, while Epic released a trailer announcing the partnership and showcasing Unreal's 3D rendering and menu developing tools, it doesn't give us a peak at what the infotainment and instruments of the Hummer will look like. The company does tout fast boot-up times, powerful graphics, and over-the-air updates as useful features included with Unreal. But for a clear look at the final product, we'll have to wait for the October 20 reveal. Related Video:
