The 1975 GMC Gentleman Jim was a special edition truck with only one truck available to participating GMC dealers.  Of nearly 1,700 GMC dealers only about 1,000 models were delivered.  The dealer brochure seems to attempt to change the image of their pickups from a rough teeth rattling work machine to a practical everyday vehicle that could be luxurious and stylish.  All were nearly identically equipped:  1/2 ton 2wd long bed GMC Sierra Classic C-15.  350 c.i. with automatic transmission.  Special black and metallic gold paint scheme with body side moldings and matching metallic gold grill and wheels.  "Gentleman Jim" Fleetside decals.  Interior features special edition bucket seats in saddle brown and center console.  AM/FM Stereo with 8 track player.  All weather air conditioning, power steering, power brakes, full instrumentation, tachometer, tilt steering and special edition very rare Gentleman Jim inscribed floor mats in excellent condition.

Engine has been hopped up for extra horsepower:  10:1 Flat top pistons, shot peened  rods, Howards cam & lifters, Edelbrock 750cfm Hot Street 4bbl, HV-55 High volume oil pump, ceramic coated block hugger headers, aluminum dual plane intake, HEI distributor (65,000 volts), aluminum oil pan, aluminum low profile valve covers, aluminum timing chain cover, new brakes (front and rear), new body mounts, new hoses, new water pump, new battery, dual exhaust, Flow Master Delta 44 mufflers, sound deadening mat, dash recovered, new A/C R134-A, spray in bedliner, fresh BFG 275/60/15 tires.  I'm happy to answer your questions 918-728-2525 Thanks, Steve Adib

2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra show all their sides in Detroit

Tue, 15 Jan 2013

There could hardly be more riding on the next-generation General Motors full-size pickup trucks, so the automaker has wisely made sure to have a selection of different models on hand at the Detroit Auto Show to show off. The 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and 2014 GMC Sierra were both officially introduced last month at a stand-alone reveal, and now they'll be on display for the public to see in various body configurations and trim levels.
The Silverado LTZ Crew Cab and Sierra SLE Extended Cab are aimed at providing more of a high-end pickup experience, while the Silverado LT Z71 Extended Cab and Sierra SLT Z71 Crew Cab should have off-road fans scouting out their favorite trails. The crew cab trucks won't go into production until sometime during the second quarter of this year - with other bodystyles coming later in the year - but we have plenty of live images from Detroit for you to enjoy.

REWIND: Watch the GMC Hummer EV live reveal right here

Tue, Oct 20 2020

It has been a long wait to see the GMC Hummer electric pickup truck, which was teased way back at the Super Bowl in February of this year. And that wait ends tonight at 8 p.m. eastern time when GM pulls the covers off the truck. You can see the whole reveal right here, or during the World Series on Fox or "The Voice" on NBC. For everything we know about the truck, go to our reveal post here. The truck should be impressive. GMC has previously announced it will have up to 1,000 horsepower, and it will have a variety of fun features such as removable roof panels and four-wheel steering that can move the truck sort of sideways with "Crab Mode." The GMC Hummer will also be available in pickup and SUV forms. So be sure to tune in tonight for one of the biggest (figuratively and literally) vehicle reveals of the year. And keep an eye on Autoblog for all the latest on the Hummer and other vehicles.

GMC to get own model not shared with Chevy?

Mon, 20 Jan 2014

For years, GMC has existed as a brand without a single unique product, reconstituting Chevrolet trucks, SUVs and crossovers with more frosting in exchange for a few extra dollars. The Sierra is a Silverado, the Acadia a Traverse, and the Terrain an Equinox, although admittedly the latter pair are visually differentiated to a significant degree.
GMC could be set to expand beyond its Chevy-based roots, though. During last week's Detroit Auto Show press days, GM's product boss Mark Reuss was asked whether there'd ever be a GMC that wasn't taken from Chevy. "Oh, yes, you will," Reuss told the media. "The health of GMC is astonishingly good from a consideration standpoint." Reuss wouldn't elaborate on what the model could be, although we're quite happy to make some guesses. GMC has its bases fairly well covered, with a mid-size and full-size crossover, as well as a mid-size, full-size and HD pickup. We doubt GMC will be building a family sedan, sports car, or hatchback, so really, the only place we can see the brand going is into a smaller crossover.
Automotive News points out that the most recent small GMC showcar, the 2010 Granite concept (shown above), won't see production according to General Motors. That vehicle likely would have rode on GM's compact vehicle architecture, known internally as Gamma II, which underpins the Chevy Spark and Sonic, as well as the Buick Encore (and its overseas Opel/Vauxhall/Chevy counterparts).
