Up for auction is my 68 GMC 4x4. Looks awesome! Pictures don't do it justace. I get complements every time I drive it. Base Clear, color sanded and polished. Had this truck for a while. I got this truck from the second owner who owned it since 1982. He had passed and I bought it from his son. Used it for a while for the property I have, but didn’t use it as much as I thought. Then was going to be a father/son project, but my son wasn’t that interested. So, I decided to fix it up a little and sell it. The truck was painted some time ago with a base clear and has since faded. See pictures. So off to the paint shop. Truck was sanded, sealed, primed and paint with base, clear. Some dents fixed here and there, no rust on the truck but surface rust on the roof. The bed was not stripped in the bed, just scuffed and painted. The jams had small bubbling at the lower door seal that was fixed and spotted. The truck looks awesome! It’s not a show truck, but very very clean. Although I’ve seen cars at shows that don’t look as good as this truck. Spent $6800 on the paint job, way over what I wanted, so I didn’t paint the door jams and dash. They are chipped and scratched, so I just touched them up, and there’s a lot. I will give the rest of the paint to the buyer so they can do what they want with it. There’s about a quart or two left. The seat has worn out at the driver’s seat under the cover. Everything works, light, turn signals. The radio, gas gauge and wipers don’t work and a couple of dash lights. Has a sbc with 101k, a Holly carb and an edelbrock intake and an 8qrt oil pan, no leaks, p/s, p/brakes. Granny 4 speed. Dash good. Front disk brakes. All was there when I got it. The truck is cold blooded as the choke is manual and is wired open. Wanted to put an edelbrock on it but never got to it. I’m not a big Holly fan, but runs great. 4x4 works great. Truck can sit for a month and fire right up. Glass packs. The glass is good, but the windshield has a small crack lower left corner, just at the corner. The bed wood is plywood with oak surface. A couple of the bed metal runners bolts are missing and some of the nuts are missing, ill try to get that fixed before end of auction. The metal runners were stripped and rustoleam painted. Tires are older, but still work. Clean title
Has working factory tach dash with factory vacuum gauge. Chrome is not perfect but nice. I also have the stock rally rims with center caps and new chrome rings. A couple of the pictures are before paint so you can see how it looked before. Can end auction at any time. Truck is for sale locally Im sure im missing something. Please ask questions. Sold as is where is. Buyer pays shipping. If you would like to see the truck, your more than welcome to stop by, but only if you’re a serious buyer. |

United States drivers buying fewer Mexican-made cars
Tue, May 10 2016Crossovers and pickup trucks are not only growing in market share, they're also more profitable than cars. A crossover on the same platform as a sedan retails for thousands more, despite similar components. It's one of the reasons we've seen automakers rapidly shifting production of their sedans and hatchbacks to Mexico, where cheap labor preserves the thin profit margins on these inexpensive vehicles. But as the market continues to shift in the United States, Mexico is getting burned by its lack of product diversity. The country's auto exports, which are heavy on cars, suffered a 16-percent drop last month, Automotive News reports. In total, year-over-year exports fell from 233,515 to 197,020 last month, while year-to-date exports are down by 7.4 percent, from 922,029 to 854,118. The number one culprit? America – which usually accounts for 75 percent of Mexico's exports – and its appetite for crossovers and pickup trucks bolstered by cheap gas prices. While Mexico does build some light truck models – AN specifically calls out the Ram 2500, Honda HR-V, GMC Sierra, and Toyota Tacoma as export leaders – the vast majority of vehicles rolling out of its factories are sedans and hatchbacks. In fact, the three biggest drops in Mexican exports came from companies whose south of the border factories only build cars – Ford (Fusion/Lincoln MKZ and Fiesta), Mazda (Mazda3), and Volkswagen (Golf and Jetta). Mexican Automotive Industry Association President Eduardo Solis told AN the export shortfall will likely be sorted out sooner rather than later, thanks to a pair of new factories – a Kia car factory and an Audi SUV plant – that are coming online by year's end. The two facilities will add around 100,000 vehicles to the country's export totals, which Solis said should leave the industry on the verge of breaking another export record in 2016. But how sustainable will these record-breaking years be? Slapping an "Hecho en Mexico" sticker on a new German SUV won't be enough to change the fact that Mexico's product mix is tilted too heavily towards body styles that are not growing in volume. Mexico's record-breaking export years probably aren't at an end, but we'd argue they're certainly under threat. GMC's Denali offerings are going great guns
Fri, 28 Feb 2014The Denali trim that GMC uses to denote its top-of-the-line vehicles was introduced back in 1999, partly as a way to challenge the recently introduced Lincoln Navigator. Fifteen years later, and with GMC the tenth-largest US automotive brand by itself Denali has become a sub-brand that keeps the cash registers ringing at the Renaissance Center HQ. While GMC increased sales by 9 percent in 2013, TheDetroitBureau.com reports that that Denali sales rose by 20 percent.
There are currently five Denali models in the GMC line, with the Denali trim available on all but its commercial vans. In 2010, when the now-discontinued Yukon XL Hybrid was also on sale, GMC sold 32,886 units of its top trim. Last year, that number had increased to 75,558, with almost no help from traditional marketing spends. Go to YouTube and search for "GMC Denali commercials" - the few actual commercial results are from years ago. GMC marketing director Roger McCormack tells TheDetroitBureau.com, "It's largely all been organic."
As sales have grown, so has the tide of money GMC rakes in from the additional luxury features on Denali models. The 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe starts at $44,600, yet its 2014 Yukon Denali doppelganger starts at $58,320, pricing that includes additional features like the larger 6.2-liter V8, nicer interior, head-up display and magnetic ride control suspension. The Yukon XL Denali starts at $60,965, but the article says the "average customer" likely to spend "up and above $70,000" to take one home. How does that happen? On a top-trim Tahoe LTZ, the top-tier wheel option is a set of 20-inch chrome wheels for $400; on the 'base' Yukon Denali you can swap for a set of 22-inch chrome alloys for $2,995. Add it up, and an analyst at AutoTrends Consulting said that kind of margin "epitomizes the concept of obscene profitability." We say when it comes to Denali, GMC appears to stand for "Grabbing More Cash."
GMC and EarthCruiser to collaborate on Hummer EV Pickup overlander project
Thu, Mar 30 2023GMC just announced a collaboration with overlanding vehicle builder EarthCruiser, and the end result is going to provide us with a co-developed Hummer EV Pickup. The photo you’re looking at above is the first teaser for whatÂ’s to come of the partnership. The Hummer team will be working with EarthCruiserÂ’s research and design division to develop an overland upfit solution for EVs that it says will initially be integrated into the Hummer EV Pickup. In case you werenÂ’t familiar with EarthCruiser, theyÂ’re the people that have made utterly wild overlanding vehicles like the Terranova, FX and EXP. Needless to say, EarthCruiser makes some pretty rad stuff, and none of it is cheap. GMC says this collaboration will look to use EarthCruiserÂ’s expertise gained from developing its vehicles to create an overlanding solution for the Hummer. We should expect to see EarthCruiserÂ’s engineering technologies integrated into the vehicle, which will allow the Hummer to go even further off-road and provide the ability for owners to live with their trucks in the wilderness. The one snag with overlanding in EVs is the typically long journeys away from civilization. As an example, the EarthCruiser XP and EXP feature 60-gallon fuel tanks to ensure you can get to where you need to go and power the living situation for a long time once youÂ’re there. WeÂ’ll be interested to hear what GMC and EarthCruiser have to say about the challenges presented by overlanding in an EV. Already visible in the teaser image is what looks like a solar panel-filled roof and rear side pods for supplies. The concept truck will be presented in late summer 2023, and while no date for a production vehicle was provided, itÂ’s likely that the final truck will come soon after. Related video:
