1986 GMC K-1500 Sierra Classic 4x4- 38k original 1-owner miles!   A TRUE SURVIVOR!

This particular GMC was purchased brand new by Harvey and Alma at Sangster GMC in Wenatchee, Washington on May 7th 1986. The truck was prized enough they even had a dash plaque made that read “Built especially for Harvey and Alma”. This truck remained in Harvey’s care until his death and was subsequently cared for by his wife Alma. It has been garaged since new and has never seen inclement weather. It has traveled just 38k miles since new. This is truly as close to new as you would ever find!

  Here is an overview:

Here is how the truck is equipped:
  • YE9- Sierra Classic Equipment- This is the highest trim level offered in 1986 and included such niceties as Power windows, power locks, cruise control and more!
  • 72U-Apple Red and Frost two-tone exterior paint
  • ZY5- Exterior D?cor Package- Apple Red top and lower w/ Frost White center
  • 77D- Burgundy custom cloth bench seat
  • LE9- 5.0L Engine
  • MX0- 4-speed automatic trans w/overdrive
  • GT4- 3.73 Rear Axle
  • V02- Heavy Duty Radiator and Transmission cooling
  • V76- Towing Package
  • UA1- Heavy Duty Battery
  • XEB- 235/75/15 Tires
  • N67- Rally Wheels
  • X6Z- Automatic Locking Hubs
  • Nl2- Auxiliary Fuel Tank
  • B32- Front Color Keyed Floor mats
  • CD4- Interval Wipers
  • C60- Air conditioning
  • K34- Electronic Speed Control
  •  ZQ2- Operating Convenience Package- Power windows and locks
  •  N33- Comfort tilt steering
  • UM6- ETR AM/FM Stereo w/Cassette
  • A01- Tinted Glass all around
  • A28- Sliding rear window
  • UF2- Cargo Area lamp

Exterior:

Paint- The truck has never been damaged in any way and is wearing 100% original paint as verified by paint meter. In fact this truck has the most consistent and lowest paint meter reading I have ever seen on ANY car, from 2.0-4.0 mils on EVERY panel! The paint has suffered none of the typical fading or peeling that is so common on this generation of GM trucks. Take a look at the paint on the roof and the hood in the photos, those are the reflections of the clouds you see, crazy! You simply wont believe the paint on this truck!

Trim- all of the Deco trim that comes on these nicely trimmed Sierra Classic trucks is present and primo! No pitting, fading, etc. on any of the trim or decals. Even the factory tape pinstripe that separates the red from the white is damaged or missing! The only items worth noting is the lower trim on the passenger bedside is starting to delaminate and there is a slight crease in the tailgate trim, passenger side which is visible in the pictures.

Glass- 100% of the glass is original to the truck  including the windshield and it along with all the gaskets and moldings’ are like new.

Wheels and Tires- The truck is wearing its original 15” Rally wheels and beauty rings that show no wear. The Bridgestone Dueler tires have just 5,000 miles and are the correct 235/75/15 size.

Bed- The bed simply has to be seen to be believed! It obviously has never been used or hauled anything of note. It has a fitted bed mat that is very nice and the original paint underneath is nearly new. You will note it has never even had a hitch installed. Talk about light use for a truck. The photos speak for themselves on this front!

Interior-

Seat- The Burgundy bench seat is like new, no stains, no wear marks, etc.

Carpets- the original carpets are likewise clean with no notable wear. It even still has the original OE vinyl floor mats embossed “GM”. Awesome!

Dash/Headliner/Door Panels- Pristine and as new.

Electronics- EVERYTHING on the truck works as designed including the power windows, locks, cruise control, HVAC, Electronic ETR stereo, gauges, cab lights, bed lights, etc.

Mechanical-

The truck starts with the first turn of the key and idles perfectly. It makes good power and shifts smoothly through the gears. The brakes engage at the top of the pedal with no pulling or pulsation. The truck tracks straight and true and you can take your hands off the wheel at 70 mph. I just serviced the truck and changed its fluids, its ready to go.

Underneath- I have crawled all over this truck from top to bottom and it is absolutely dry underneath, no oil or fluid leaks anywhere. Not detailed clean, just obviously loved and never exposed to bad weather clean.  The only item I noted was the exhaust had been changed to a glass pack style muffler, which I didn’t like so I had a more correct exhaust and tailpipe installed.

Rust- these trucks are VERY prone to rust and most are so full of cancer that they are now parts trucks. This truck is 100% rust free. It just has never been exposed. For those of you not familiar this truck lived its entire life In North Central Washington. Unlike Seattle this portion of the sate is simply bone dry. Less than 9 inches of rainfall per year, very low humidity, warm summers and no proximity to salt air means an ideal car preservation climate. For those of you back East or in the Mid-west, you probably haven’t seen one like this since the 1980’s.

Accessories:   On any collectible its important to have the little stuff, here is what I have:
  • Original books and manuals in their correct case including the original service book with the owners names stamped in it!
  • Dash plaque showing the original owners names
  • Washington registrations until 2014 showing the original owners name verifying one-owner status and Washington registered from new.
  • Complete service history verifying mileage including a service log the owner kept in the original maintenance book.
  • 4 original GM keys with Sangster motors key tags!
  • Original Sangster Motors License plate frames
I have over 100 high resolution photos of this truck, please feel free to email me and I will send them all to you.

Overall I think this has to be nicer than 99.9% of these trucks still on the road. You could restore one, but they are only original once!

I am a licensed motor vehicle dealer in the state of Washington, dealer # 1777. I specialize mostly in Porsche but have an affinity for survivor quality American trucks. EBay will not allow a direct link to my site but feel free to go to “Columbia Valley Luxury Cars” to see what we are about.    I have tried to describe the truck as completely as I possible can. I won’t go so far as to say that is it 100% perfect, but I have never seen a nicer one. It is very low miles for its age. It is totally original. Everything works the way it did in 1986. Please contact me with any questions you might have.   Please feel free to ask any questions via email. I will not disclose the reserve, so please don’t ask. A non-refundable deposit of $1000 will be required within 48 hours via PayPal.   Please have your financing arranged in advance; it is almost guaranteed this truck will sell for above high blue book, which means you will probably have to come up with some cash on your own. Failure to obtain financing is not a valid reason to not purchase the car. I do not provide in house financing. No trades unless you are local and I can physically inspect the vehicle.   As required by law I am disclosing that the vehicle will be sold As-Is No-Warranty. Please remember that while this vehicle has only 38,000 original miles it is 28 years old and as such some items might require maintenance and repair in the future due to age and not necessarily mileage.   If you are new to E-bay or have no feedback please email me prior to bidding to establish your legitimacy. If you have excessive negative ratings I reserve the right to cancel your bid.

GM 6.2L V8 claims most powerful light-duty truck engine title

Thu, 12 Sep 2013

General Motors has officially captured the horsepower crown for mainstream pickup trucks with its 6.2-liter V8. The big mill, available in both the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra, comes to market with 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, handily outdoing its two cross-town competitors, Ram (5.7-liter V8, 395 ponies and 407 lb-ft) and Ford (6.2-liter V8, 411 hp and 434 lb-ft).
The new GM 6.2 will take a bit of an investment, though. Those that want the extra thrust will need to go with either the LTZ or High Country trims from the Chevy, or the SLT and Denali trims from GMC, which are the two highest trim levels for the respective vehicles. Trim levels aside, if you're in the business of towing, GM has you covered. Optioned with the 6.2-liter V8 and the Max Trailering Package, owners will be able to pull 12,000 pounds, a hugely impressive figure.
We still aren't certain as to what sort of economy the new engine will get, but it'll probably be a bad bet for the fuel conscious. As for availability, expect to see the 6.2-liter trucks in showrooms later in the fall.

Disabled man realizes dream of driving with converted pickup truck

Tue, Sep 22 2015

A man with a devastating illness is mobile once again thanks to a heavily modified pick up truck. He hopes he can help others in his situation gain the freedom of mobility they need to lead a normal life. Chris Sauerbaum has a physical disability resulting from chronic inflammatory polyneuropathy, a form of muscular dystrophy where the sufferer's immune system attacks their nerves. Sauerbaum lost both of his legs and is bound to a wheelchair. After 11 years of trying, he finally has a vehicle that he can drive. "You might as well be driving a Lamborghini," Sauerbaum told the York Dispatch as the driver side door extended to a lift to accommodate Sauerbaum's wheelchair. "Everyone comes up and talks to you. You come out looking like a Transformer." It wasn't easy getting transportation that fit his needs. First he bought a Chrysler PT Cruiser, which wasn't large enough to handle the equipment needed to convert the car for a legless driver. In 2013, Sauerbaum and his wife Heather Sloat appealed to local businesses and friends for donations. They raised $10,000 and were able to put a downpayment on a GMC Sierra. The truck then underwent $91,000 worth of upgrades. It was completely outfitted for Sauerbaum, with a large lift to bring his wheel chair up to the driver's seat and joysticks doing the work of peddles and the steering wheel. New York's Office of Vocational Rehabilitation paid for the conversion. "Think of it as a big remote controlled car. An 8,000 pound R/C car," Sauerbaum told the Dispatch. After a week and a half of learning the controls, Sauerbaum was able to drive with confidence again. He will no long need to rely on his wife to get him two and from work, an 80-mile trip each day. Sauerbaum and Sloat hope to start a nonprofit called Drive for Independence that will assist other wheelchair-bound people with the costs of getting a converted vehicle that suits their needs. "It's just one piece of the puzzle to get people to work," Sloat told the Dispatch. Related Video: Weird Car News GMC Driving Ownership Truck Videos disabled ms
