2005 Gmc Box Truck 15 Foot Former Yellow Penske Unit on 2040-cars
Indianapolis, Indiana, United States
This is a 15 foot former Penske Rental, 15 foot long box area. I purchased around Thanksgiving in 2007 and we have used it in our internet/retail book and media business for pickups. Almost all of the mileage is from our travels to 16 states, some on an ongoing basis. Very little in-town pick up or delivery usage. The vehicle had 83,931 miles when I purchased it from a resell dealer of used Penske Rental Units (Greene's Truck Service). With our long range of highway mileage, we have had very little issues. Most of the tires are new in the past 2 years when we have not had tremendous mileage or pickup travels. One or two of the rear tires are at about 1/2 life. We replaced the original battery in November of last year with a new top of the line CarQuest model. The interior is in good shape with no tears and pretty clean for a truck of it's age. There does not seem to be as many of these trucks coming on the market these days. I had a client a couple of years ago spend 2 months looking to buy one in the local market before one became available. We have a warehouse full of books and media to sort and process so we are down to using the truck maybe 4 times per year and it makes more sense to just rent one for our future needs.
I plan to have the truck serviced prior to delivery which will be an oil change/service and having the brakes replaced all around. Box floor is in good shape and we have never had any leaking issues. This one has been treated very well with almost all highway mileage. We are looking forward to getting it to a new home so someone else can enjoy the usage of a very dependable vehicle. I would be glad to answer any questions you may have. Thanks for considering. |

Chevy Colorado configurator goes live as GM touts fuel efficiency
Wed, 03 Sep 2014While the news of today is destined to be dominated by a certain plucky Japanese roadster, props to Chevrolet and GMC for announcing its own significant bit of news about their newest pickup twins, the midsize Colorado and Canyon. The two GM-owned brands announced that the twins' 3.6-liter V6 will return up to 26 miles per gallon on the freeway.
To get such efficiency from the 305-horsepower mill, you'll need to live without four-wheel drive and be okay with a max city fuel economy of 18 mpg. The combined rating for the 2WD model sits at 21 mpg. Adding four-wheel drive drops the city and combined ratings by one mpg, while the highway rating dips from 26 to 24 mpg.
As for the twins' eagerly anticipated 2.8-liter diesel engine, it's destined for model year 2016, meaning we've got a ways to go before its efficiency and output are certified.
GM to squeeze out more production capacity for midsize trucks
Tue, May 26 2015General Motors was predicting a strong showing for the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon before they debuted, and demand among dealers for the midsize trucks even exceeded company's expectations. The positive situation has left GM with a problem, though: finding ways to increase capacity for the pickups at the Wentzville Assembly plant in Missiouri. With a third shift already running, GM has continued to look for ways to build just a few more of the trucks at the plant. The company has plans to hire as many as 1,000 more workers for the Saturday and Sunday shifts to construct an additional 2,000 pickups a month, according to unnamed insiders at the factory speaking to Automotive News. The little adjustments even extend to getting rid of an unpaid break to add 18 minute of assembly time over the course of a day, which equals about 3,500 more vehicles a year. All of this effort comes because the trucks are in such high demand. According to GM's figures, the company has delivered a combined 35,720 units of the Colorado and Canyon from January through April 2015, and the Chevy was the fastest-selling truck in the US for the previous three months. In May, it spent an average of just 12 days in showrooms before being snapped up. And even better for the company, 43 percent of these buyers came from other brands. According to Automotive News, the most popular trade-ins have included the Ford F-150, Toyota Tacoma, and Dodge Dakota. Related Video:
Mystery man buys fast food worker a new car
Tue, Apr 28 2015A mystery man bought a Tennessee fast food worker a new car. 34-year-old Jeff Smith told WKRN he was approached by an older stranger as he was exiting a grocery store. The two struck up a conversation about Smith's 1991 Geo Storm. The vehicle is falling apart; it has more than 350,000 miles on it, a cracked dashboard, no drivers side window, and a door that is literally being held closed by a small hook. The stranger asked Smith to follow him down the road to James Motors, but then asked the fast food worker to wait outside. Smith told WKRN, "He comes back out and says, 'How do you like that blue pickup?' I said. 'It looks great.' Then he said, 'Well, I bought it and it's yours now.' [...] It's just a blessing. It's the best thing that has ever happened to me." At first, Smith didn't believe this was even real. But the owner of James Motors showed up at the fast food restaurant where he works with the keys and title to the 2001 navy blue GMC Sonoma. The mysterious benefactor didn't want to be identified, but asked smith to do something nice for someone else in the future. Weird Car News GMC geo
