GM recalls trucks and SUVs for brake pedal problem

The Basics: General Motors will recall over 473,000 North American examples of the 2015-2016 Chevrolet Silverado HD, GMC Sierra HD, and police pursuit versions of the Chevy Tahoe. These include 426,573 vehicles in the US and 46,837 in Canada, according to Reuters. The Problem: The brake pivot nut can loosen over time, which can render the pedal inoperative. This would be a danger to drivers trying to stop the vehicles. In some cases, the "Service Engine Soon" light might come on. Injuries/Deaths: None reported. The Fix: Dealers will inspect the pivot bolt, and if necessary they will apply adhesive to it and reinstall the part with increased torque. Correction: Dealers will inspect the pivot bolt installation to determine whether the vehicle has already received the production remedy. If not, the dealer will add adhesive to the nut, and reinstall the nut at an increased torque. Supercharged 2015 GMC Yukon Denali sounds evil, runs 0-60 in 4.5 seconds

Speeding along in a sports car is undoubtedly a ton of fun, but some owners need the ability to carry a lot of people and their stuff and don't want to sacrifice the ability to put the power down. The tuners over at Hennessey have that demographic covered with their growling, supercharged power kits for the GMC Yukon Denali. The upgrades come in three forms for the SUV's 6.2-liter V8: HPE550 with 557 horsepower, HPE600 with 605 hp and HPE650 with 665 hp. This video showcases the full-bore version, and this Denali can definitely hustle in a straight line. The power bump comes courtesy of a 2.9-liter supercharger, intercooler and high-flow cylinder heads to add over 200 horsepower compared to stock, and the final result is a bellowing SUV that rears up off he line to throw the driver back into the seat. The sprint to 60 miles per hour lasts just 4.5 seconds. Check out this hasty hauler in action in the video above.

GM 6.2L V8 claims most powerful light-duty truck engine title

General Motors has officially captured the horsepower crown for mainstream pickup trucks with its 6.2-liter V8. The big mill, available in both the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra, comes to market with 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, handily outdoing its two cross-town competitors, Ram (5.7-liter V8, 395 ponies and 407 lb-ft) and Ford (6.2-liter V8, 411 hp and 434 lb-ft).
The new GM 6.2 will take a bit of an investment, though. Those that want the extra thrust will need to go with either the LTZ or High Country trims from the Chevy, or the SLT and Denali trims from GMC, which are the two highest trim levels for the respective vehicles. Trim levels aside, if you're in the business of towing, GM has you covered. Optioned with the 6.2-liter V8 and the Max Trailering Package, owners will be able to pull 12,000 pounds, a hugely impressive figure.
We still aren't certain as to what sort of economy the new engine will get, but it'll probably be a bad bet for the fuel conscious. As for availability, expect to see the 6.2-liter trucks in showrooms later in the fall.
