Ford Other Deluxe on 2040-cars
San Jose, California, United States
Documented History In 1957, Robert Anduha of Daly City, CA acquired this Three Window and did little with it, other than stow it away for 50 years! Included is the CA DMV registration with the 1957 date. In May of 2007, Pete Hansen of Cupertino, CA bought the Three Window from Robert. It was transported to Mike Sander's place in Morgan Hill, CA so the restoration could begin. Below is the only existing photo of Pete and the Three Window at Mike's place the day it arrived. Pete and Mike sorted through the car, and myriad original parts that came with it. They got as far as a running chassis and drive train. By 2011, Pete's project was no longer feasible for him. Mike was aware I was looking to buy a 1934 Three Window, so he gave me ring. In January of 2011, I acquired the car. The Build Upon inspection and purchase of the car, I was amazed at the fantastic condition the sheet metal was in. The body is excellent, near perfect. The bolt-on items such as fenders, doors and door tins, rumble lid, hood, were also absolutely great! Through the 4 years of work, I kept an extensive photo history and receipts documenting the build. All of this information goes to the next owner. I have over 400 photos of the process. Exterior Body and paint were done by Jesse Cruz, of Salinas, CA. Jesse has painted several cars that have won awards on the 18th Lawn at the Pebble Beach Concour D'Elegance. The deep black mirror finish is really impressive. The body and sheet metal parts came together as they should, with smooth closing doors, correct fitting panels, etc. and the rumble seat with the spring loaded interior release handle. Here is a list of unrestored original exterior 1934 Ford items: Blue oval Ford emblem on the top of the grille. I feel this is a signature of my build, an 80 year old original emblem that is not restored, but instead stating this car is the real deal.Outside door handlesOutside door lock and key Hub caps with proper blue logo paintTail light stanchionsSpare tire lock and keyOriginal roof tack stripsSet of four 17" trim rings, ultra rare Here is a list of restored original exterior 1934 Ford items: Fully restored grille and its original V8 emblemPair of bumpersPair of stainless headlampsPair of stainless cowl lightsPair of hornsWindshield frame Five powder coated 17" Kelsey Hayes bent spoke rimsThe rumble seat was ordered, and built at the LeBaron Bonney factoryRumble seat spring release mechanismsRumble seat tool pouch on passenger sideProper triple pin striping on the body belt line, and on the hood louvers, by Frank Signs, of Seaside, CA Proper features that I have added to the exterior of car: Original restored 1933 spare tire cover, I like prefer the look of the '33 cover Luggage rack with leather strapsJD made greyhound hood ornament radiator cap with free standing tailFive Brand new Firestone Deluxe Champion wide white wallsBlue dot tail light lensesFord Script locking gas cap with working keyAll new glass with proper July of 1934 Safety bugs. Driver and passenger windows execute the correct horizontal vent motion when rolled down, since the Three Window has its original window regulators. Interior A full, new LeBaron Bonney interior kit was expertly installed by Andy & Me Interiors of Sand City, CA. here is a list of unrestored original interior parts: Fully operational dual fuel/temp gaugeFully operational dual amp meter, ON/OFF gaugeFully operational vacuum wiperFully operational cigar lightermirror bracketfully operational dome light1934 Chicago World's Fair Century of Progress soybean gear shift knob Here is a list of interior restored original 1934 Ford items: Front seat frame, back rest and seat. The Three Window still had its original seat soft goods, really not usable, but still intact! All interior handles and escutcheons are excellent originals that were re-nickel plated by Van Nuys Plating, and have 80 year old marble endsDash board, window & windshield garnish moldings wood grained by Nick Cassero of Hayward, CASteering wheel and horn button, 1934 Ford ash tray radioSpeedometer/odometer. Sun visors with single hinge, which was an early 1934 feature and very hard to find. Chassis and Mechanics A top priority of the restoration was excellent mechanics and drivability. I also wanted to make the engine/compartment and undercarriage as impressive and restored as the top side. I took the car down to the bare frame, painted it with gloss black, along with each and every individual piece. Many chassis parts were sand blasted and powder coated in gloss black or 60% semi-gloss black by Monterey Peninsula Power Coating. Here is a list of the major components done: Oil Pan Original Shocks Front Axle Backing Plates Brake Drums Spark Plug Tubes Radiator Pan Shock Links Fan Brake Rods Wishbone Oil Filler Cap Spindles Front Spring and many other components The striking look of the black powder coating was further highlighted with the use of white cad plated fasteners. The Engine Is a true 1936 LB motor. In other words, it has insert bearings rather than babbitt bearings. Back in the day, dealerships very often replaced 1934 original motors with 1936 motors. See photo of the LB stamping on the top of the block, and photos of the insideThe motor was rebuilt by Norm Fontaine, of Campbell, CA and runs very strong and reliable. It fires right up, and tics at a very low RPM like a vintage sewing machine. When standing next to it, you can barely tell it is running. The motor was fully detailed, as the photos depict, and dressed with 1934 components such as the aluminum heads, intake manifold, oil intake, etc. Brand new gloss black British made Stromberg 97 carbOriginal radiator re-cored by Monterey RadiatorRebuilt original generator, fuel pump, and distributor, brand new starter, rebuilt water pumps by Skip Haney, Ford Script hoses, cad plated hose clampsUltra rare 3 piece Champion X spark plugsCorrect brass Siamese fuel line for gasoline and fuel gaugeAdded a glass fuel filter in between the fuel pump and carb so you can see the gasoline flowing Drive Train The transmission is a 1939 rebuilt by Norm Fontaine, and at the request of Pete Hansen, contains Zephyr gears. The coupe also comes with a stock 1934 rebuilt transmission with standard gears. The rear end is a 3:54 All the brakes have been rebuilt, new shoes, new bearings, all 4 original shocks in place. Steering box rebuilt and filled with John Deere corn head grease for smooth operation and leak prevention All new 6 volt, positive ground wiring, and added a hidden battery cut off switch underneath on the driver side, just past the running board Drivability The Three Window starts right up, idles perfect and drives down the road as expected. The brakes and electrical work great, no overheating, smooth turning, all the electrical works as it should, so overall, a fantastic build. The Matching Trailer Included is a matching teardrop trailer. I took the trailer completely apart, rebuilt the mechanics, had an interior carpet made, and of course, had Jesse Cruz paint it to match The Three Window. Added a set of powder coated red 17" Kelsey Hayes bent spoke rims, with rare 17" trim rings, and brand new Firestone Deluxe Champion tires. It also has: 1937 Ford Script handle with key (does not lock)1934 Ford V8 logo, new set of 1934 hub capsCalifornia BIG SUR 1970's copy license plateNew trailer parts such as hitch ball and safety chains Options for the New Owner 1933 or 1934 Air Cleaner, whichever look you prefer1933 or 1934 Spare Tire cover, whichever look you preferBronze or chrome Greyhound hood ornament Other items The fender skirts ARE included, and the CA dealer plate will not be included.I rebuilt the speedo and zeroed the counter, but the gear in the differential is worn and is not turning the new cable. It worked for 11 miles then stopped! The passenger side outside door lock is a complete unit with original key, but not working due to a part missing from the interior doorThe main seat does not slide forward, but all the original parts are there. I always drive with the seat all the way back anywaySold As-is, no warranty.

Ford C-Max Commercial Brings Cadillac 'Poolside' Ad Down To Earth
Thu, Mar 27 2014If we had tried to predict the first video response to the controversial Poolside video for the Cadillac ELR, we would not have thought it would center on compost. But, hey, it's always nice to be reminded that the real world is sometimes better than fiction. Instead of the chic swagger of 'Poolside,' 'Anything Is Possible' is all about getting dirty. The new short in question is called Upside: Anything Is Possible and it promotes two things: Detroit Dirt and the Ford C-Max Energi. As in the ELR ad, Ford's plug-in C-Max only makes an appearance at the tail end of the spot, but instead of the chic swagger of Poolside, Anything Is Possible is all about getting dirty. The ad stars Pashon Murray, co-founder of Detroit Dirt, which takes natural waste from around Detroit, composts it into soil and then spreads that around "forgotten parcels" of Detroit to create urban farms. Detroit Dirt gets its bio-waste from a lot of sources, including the Detroit Zoological Society (all that herbivore manure has to go somewhere), Ford and General Motors, but this particular ad was the idea of Ford's PR agency, Team Detroit. It was a frenetic shoot, filmed with an LA-based director right after a big winter storm blew through Detroit, and Murray couldn't be happier with the result. "This was Ford Motor Company pushing my story, letting me tell the story that I believe in," Murray tells AutoblogGreen. "I get to help push this car and I get to tell my story." She says that the Team Detroit and Ford had to agree on the message, "from my understanding, [YouTube] is where they wanted to start, not where they wanted to finish." The ad is already getting a positive response on Twitter, so we won't be surprised if it shows up in more places soon. "It's not saying Ford is better than GM. It's telling the story of a black woman who's working hard in Detroit." As Detroit Dirt has off-screen support from both GM and Ford, it's unsurprising to hear Murray say that the video "is not a rivalry thing." She notes that the ad agency Team Detroit came to her and offered to tell the Detroit Dirt story using the framework of the GM ad. "It's a parody on this commercial, but it's not saying Ford is better than GM," she said. "It's telling the story of a black woman who's working hard in Detroit." What is that story? It's about urban farming, recovery and recycling. Murray tells us that for the last seven or eight years, she's been dedicated to sustainability.
Ford dissects the heart of the 2015 Mustang, its engine range
Thu, 05 Dec 2013Happy Mustang Day. Are you tired of hearing about the 2015 Ford Mustang yet? No? Good, here's a bunch of mechanical data on Ford's sixth-gen muscle car, along with cutaways of the GT's 5.0-liter V8 and the new 2.3-liter, EcoBoost four-cylinder shown above. We also have a smattering of info on the Stang's updated transmissions and an exploded-parts-diagram view of its all-new independent rear suspension.
Ford is set to make waves offering the Mustang with a turbo for the firs time since the small-volume SVO of the 1980s. Displacing 2.3 liters, the engine's twin-scroll turbo should help the four-cylinder turn out a projected 305 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque, while also returning the best fuel economy in the Mustang's engine lineup. As we said in our Deep Dive, the EcoBoost will be slotted in as a premium engine, above the 3.7-liter V6 but below the 5.0-liter V8.
Speaking of that high-revving eight-cylinder, it's receiving a new cylinder head with high-flow ports. The intake and exhaust valves are larger and the cams have been replaced, among other tweaks. It should rev even higher thanks to a rebalanced crankshaft and forged connecting rods. Ford is still claiming a projected 420 hp and 390 lb-ft, although as many of the changes for the 2015's V8 come from the 2013 Boss 302, we're going to assume there's some sandbagging at work.
Would a Mustang-based Lincoln look like this?
Mon, 07 Jan 2013Designer Josiah LaCalla has taken a stab at what a Ford Mustang-based Lincoln model might look like with the Continental Mark X1 concept. Make no mistake, Ford's luxury arm has made it abundantly clear that it won't be pursuing any new products outside of volume models, which means a flashy halo grand tourer like the one you see here isn't in the cards. LaColla used the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG as a basis for his creation, which explains the long nose, but we certainly don't mind the idea of a rear-wheel drive Lincoln with a cabin pushed to the aft.
While we're dreaming, there's certainly nothing stopping us from imagining what's under that lengthy hood. We like the idea of the 5.8-liter supercharged V8 from the Shelby GT500 pushing the Mark X1 down the road, but how about something a little more inventive? Something like a high-revving, buttery V12 with enough torque to push the contraption well past 200 miles per hour. Dream a little dream, people.
