This is a 2000 Windstar  I am not sure which motor it has.  Please read this description carefully as I want a happy buyer and a good transaction.  This car has been family owned and shows the wear expected of hauling kids around for years.  It has been well maintained with regular oil, belt, filters and other items.  AC works good and most everything else works.  The front windows don't but they did so it might just be a fuse. The paint is ok, the hood is rough but looks ok from a distance.  The transmission shifts and works smoothly. The brakes are about a year old as well as the alternator.  Recent work performed by a mechanic include a new ignition coil, swapped intake manifold, heater pipe and check up.  This car has been a daily driver until 2 weeks ago when it overheated and was towed home.  This vehicle will need to be towed and worked on. Do not plan to be able to drive it home.  It starts and runs but will overheat if left running.  I do not know if there was any engine damage or what it will take to fix it.  The oil is clean looking.  The kids have grown up and I was planning on getting a smaller car anyway so I don't want to put any more money into this one.  As a bonus this also comes with a spare 2001 parts vehicle which was in very good condition until a kid crashed it.  There have been parts taken off of it but there are many left.  Most of the parts taken off are still available. This give you a lot of options for the rear seats.  They are removable and include four captains chairs and two benches so you can mix and match depending on comfort or packing people in.  The tires on the parts van were only a few weeks old when it was wrecked.  This is a package deal so if you only want the one van there is no discount.  Both vans are  sold AS IS WHERE IS with the buyer responsible to pick them up.  It is available to be inspected and that is encouraged. Please ask questions.  $500 deposit cash or pay pal within 48hrs of end of auction and the remainder cash or pay pal and the vans picked up and removed within 7 days of end of auction.  All pictures were taken today and show the car as it is.  I can supply more pictures if needed.

Vaughn Gittin Jr. takes his dog for a drift

Tue, 09 Sep 2014

Vaughn Gittin Jr. spends a great deal of his workday going sideways, but he's usually alone in the endeavor. For a guy that is clearly a dog lover, we imagine that can get a bit lonely.
That won't be a problem for Gittin in this latest video, which features the racer hanging out with his good pal Brody (a dog) and everyone's favorite hot hatch, the Ford Fiesta ST.

Ford looks to space robots to improve car-to-car communications [w/video]

Wed, 21 Aug 2013

Ford has partnered with St. Petersburg Polytechnic University for three years to research various kinds of connected vehicle communications. The university tie-up is part of its study of space robots, NASA systems created to enable space-to-Earth communication, and the university's own development of systems that enable communication between the International Space State and Earth.
The objective is for Ford to engineer layers of robust networks and redundancy systems that will allow your car to speak to other cars, to emergency vehicles, to infrastructure like traffic lights and buildings, and to the cloud. Benefits would come in just about every area of transit, from avoiding accidents, to getting medical workers to an accident more quickly, to improving the flow of traffic during rush hour.
Check out the press release below for details on what Ford wants to learn from the JUSTIN Humanoid and NASA Robonaut R2, and a video of technical leader Oleg Gusikhin discussing his interest in the project.

Detroit 3 and UAW set for showdown over tiered wages

Mon, Mar 23 2015

This week, thousands of United Auto Workers will converge on Cobo Center in Detroit for the Special Convention on Collective Bargaining, an every-four-year event that lets members tell UAW leaders what the negotiating priorities should be during contract negotiations. This is where a lot of sand and a lot of lines start coming together in preparation for contract negotiations between the UAW and the Detroit 3 automakers, which will happen later this year. Number one on the UAW agenda is the end of the two-tier wage system created in 2007 to help the automakers get through bankruptcy; veteran workers are paid the Tier 1 rate of around $29.00 per hour, new hires are paid the Tier 2 rate of between $15 and $20 and get about half the benefits of Tier 1. Tier 2 hiring has been an undoubted success for the automakers, allowing them to keep factories in the US and hire more workers. By agreement, it is capped at a certain percentage of each automaker's workforce, and while the union's ultimate position is to get rid of the dual-scale system entirely; one leader said Ford could easily afford the $335 million it would take to convert all its workers to Tier 1 out of its $6.9 billion in 2014 North American profit, and General Motors could do the same out of the $5 billion it is handing to investors through the (admittedly forced) share buyback. Other delegates say that at the very least they'd be happy with enforcement of the current caps in the new contract. The automakers, conversely, would welcome expansion of the Tier 2 ranks. Including benefits, import automakers pay workers "in the high $40 range" per hour, according to an analyst, while Ford and GM pay about $59 in wages and benefits per hour. More Tier 2 workers on the rolls would let those two companies get labor cost parity with the competition. Fiat-Chrysler pays wages closer to the imports because of special exceptions in its UAW contract that allow unlimited Tier 2 hiring; those exceptions will end on September 14 and bring FCA into line with the other domestics, unless the new contract maintains them. FCA CEO Sergio Marchionne is opposed to the two-tier system, having called it "almost offensive." One analyst says the UAW might win a sizable pay raise for Tier 2 and a small increase for Tier 1, but the keystone issue will be how the hiring matrix can help the automakers keep overall wages in line with the imports.
