This Torino as with the others used, were part of Ford Motor Company's Studio-TV car loan program that was a division of Ford Marketing. After the series ended, both of these Torinos were sent back to Ford. Ford then sent the cars to an auction that was held in Salt Lake City, Utah, where Ford dealers, just like today, would come and bid on vehicles that were used by Ford under special programs. Each Torino was purchased by one of two different dealers, both out of California. These cars were then taken back to California where they were then sold to private individuals. This Torino was sold to an individual that had it for a couple of years, and then it was traded back to the dealer who in turn sold it to James W. James who in turn sold it to Douglas A Stevenson, who in turn sold it to Cars of the Stars Museum (Peter Nelson) to The Miami Auto Museum

Located at the Dezer Car Museum. Where we have over 1200 eye popping cars and counting!

Real estate developer and collector Michael Dezer fulfilled a longtime dream when he opened his extraordinary automobile and memorabilia collection, Miami’s Auto Museum at The Dezer Collection Museum, to the public. Encompassing over 250,000-square-feet, the museum features more than 1,000 of the most unique and eclectic vehicles held in any private collection in the world. The museum’s nine exhibitions are positioned within lifelike dioramas that depict the historical period and origin of the automobiles on display. Guests can trace the evolution of the automobile through exhibits showcasing American classics from all eras, rare European classics, military cars, electric cars, micro-cars, bicycles, classic motorcycles, and more. Noting his passion for collecting began with his first vehicle — a Vespa given to him by his father at age 16 in his native Israel — Dezer today owns the largest collection of Vespas worldwide. An exhibit sure to fascinate both young and old, the museum’s Hollywood “Star” car exhibition showcases cars featured in some of Hollywood’s most celebrated movies, including the 1948 Ford “Greased Lightning” from Grease, 1959 Cadillac “Ecto-1” from Ghostbusters, 1981 Delorean “Time Machine” from Back to the Future, and the Mach 5 Speed Racer from Speed Racer Enterprises, among many others. The “Cars of the Stars” exhibition is complemented by the museum’s James Bond exhibition, which features a world-renowned collection of automobiles, submarines, airplanes, boats and memorabilia that appeared in one of Hollywood’s leading film franchises. One-of-a-kind concepts such as an indoor drive-in movie theater and a wax figure museum further the Miami’s Auto Museum at The Dezer Collection Museum’s unique mix. In addition to its outstanding collection of vehicles and memorabilia, the museum offers a distinctive 75,000-square-foot event venue, the Dezer Showplace, perfect for hosting events of up to 1,500 guests.

Ford's Galhotra succeeds Farley as head of Lincoln

Wed, 23 Jul 2014

Ford Motor Company is announcing a major personnel shakeup that could have a dramatic effect on the future of the Lincoln division. Kumar Galhotra (pictured above), currently vice president of engineering at Ford for all of its vehicles worldwide, is taking over as the president of the luxury brand on September 1, replacing Jim Farley. The automaker is also hiring a new head of advanced engineering.
Galhotra has a huge job ahead of him as the new boss of Lincoln worldwide, overseeing product development, marketing, sales and service. His task is to turn the luxury division into a world-class brand as quickly as possible, and he reports directly to Ford President and CEO Mark Fields.
"These changes underscore our commitment to build on the success of our One Ford plan by accelerating our pace of progress. They also make clear we are serious about Lincoln as a world-class luxury brand and that product excellence and innovation are what will deliver growth and define our entire company going forward," said Fields in the company's announcement.

Former Ford CEO Alan Mulally lands on Google board

Wed, 16 Jul 2014

Former Ford CEO Alan Mulally often referred to the Blue Oval as a technology company when he led the automaker. Now he'll be offering guidance to a different kind of technology firm: Google.
Mulally was appointed to Google's board of directors July 9, and late Tuesday, it was announced that he will serve on the company's audit committee. The veteran executive led Ford from September 2006 until he retired in June, succeeded by Mark Fields.
While Mulally will act as a board member - rather than in a managerial role - his presence adds credibility to Google's recently announced plans to produce an autonomous car. The ambitious program calls for 100 prototypes to begin testing later this summer. Production of the car is rumored to be in collaboration with a Detroit area performance company, Roush.

Ford Gets The Aluminum F-150 Ready For Prime Time

Wed, Nov 12 2014

Russell Barnett, a Ford dealer in Tennessee, is ready for aluminum. Ford is using the metal almost exclusively in body of the 2015 version of its best-selling F-150 pickup, which starts arriving at dealerships next month. Barnett is already answering customers' questions about the truck. And he's updated his repair shop not only for the F-150, but in anticipation that other Ford brands such as the Mustang will eventually make the switch from steel. But, just in case, he ordered some extra steel-bodied 2014 pickups. "There will be some people who won't want to change for a while," says Barnett, who says pickups make up around half of the annual sales at his dealership in rural Winchester. Ford is doubling down on aluminum, which is lighter - and more expensive - than steel but just as tough. The new truck is the company's response to customers' requests for a more fuel-efficient and nimbler pickup. Fordhopes the advantages outweigh customer doubts about the durability of aluminum or potential repair costs for the pricier metal. It's a big risk. So far this year, one out of every three vehicles Ford sold in the U.S. was an F-Series pickup. Morgan Stanley estimates F-Series trucks account for 90 percent of Ford's global automotive profit. On Tuesday, it kicked off production of the new truck at its Dearborn Truck Plant, four miles from the company's headquarters. "Yeah, this is a risk, but it's one well worth taking." said Bill Ford, the company's executive chairman, as he stood alongside the assembly line. "For our customer, this is a big, big leap forward." The trucks have been the best-selling vehicles in the U.S. for 32 straight years; last year, Ford sold nearly 100,000 more full-size pickups than General Motors. Aluminum isn't new to the auto industry, but this is the first time it will cover the entire body of such a high-volume vehicle. Ford made 647,697 F-150 pickups at its two U.S. plants last year; that's one every 49 seconds. If Ford's bet pays off, it could pad its lead in the lucrative truck market. More importantly, aluminum "future proofs" the truck - and the company - in an era of rising fuel economy standards, says Karl Brauer, a senior analyst with Kelley Blue Book. Ford will announce the truck's fuel economy figures later this month. That could determine if it steals customers away from the Silverado or Ram. Truck buyers are among the most loyal in the auto market.
