1974 Ford Gran Torino Starsky & Hutch Clone! Movie Car, Hot Rod, No Reserve! on 2040-cars
Piedmont, South Carolina, United States
Thanks for checking out this cool ride offered by M.E.S. Motorsports; where our cars are notorious for Making Everyone Stare! What we have for sale here is a 1974 Ford Gran Torino Starsky & Hutch clone. This is a really neat car that turns heads wherever it goes. Great for driving to local cruise ins and such or take it to the next level! Either way it'll be fun along the way. History – We picked this car up from a gentleman in GA that builds movie cars for fun and even rents some of them out. We were told that it was a southern car at its life. He had built this car and then parked it for a year or so when we ran across it. It would not stay running when we acquired it so we trailered it home and began to work on it. Now she runs like a champ. Drivetrain – 351 Cleveland engine with a 3 speed automatic transmission. We put a newly rebuilt Holley 500 carburetor on it which helped bring it alive. We had the transmission freshened up to repair all the leaks and had a new transmission cooler with all new lines installed as well. New U-Joints were also installed at the driveshaft. Runs out and shifts very smoothly. We also had new exhaust ran from the manifolds back with new Flowmaster mufflers. Sounds great! Gas tank was boiled out and we installed a new sending unit and fuel pump with inline filter. New drive belts and a fresh oil change. The rest of the fluid were topped off as well so she is ready to go! Power steering and power brakes make this one easy to drive. Exterior/Body – The car was painted already when we got it. The did a pretty decent job overall but it is not a concourse show paint job. The car was not disassembled for paint. Looks presentable and has a nice shine to it. There are some bubbles in a few spots and a crack in the paint at the rear bumper. The black pinstripe is vinyl and was not painted on. There is some red overspray in the white striper. Overall the body is straight and paints cleans up well. All the glass appears original. There is some rust in the lower quarters and trunk. Nothing that keeps you from enjoying the car though. The original chrome/aluminum trim is showing its age and the bumpers have some surface pitting. Underneath - Has not been detailed or painted. Floors and frame all seem solid. Interior – Much of the interior is new and it looks good. New carpet, dash cap, seat covers and door panel covers. Headliner is nice. There is currently no stereo in the car. No heat or AC. Wheels/tires – Correct style 14" Mag wheels. They were pretty worn looking so we had them powder coated an aluminum chrome look so that they would be easier to maintain. They turned out nice. The tires have some good life left on them too. Known issues – Rust/paint areas mentioned above. No heat/AC. Column shifter is loose. Passenger side marker light is broken. No stereo. Drivers window handle is missing knob. Engine bay could use a good detailing. Title - Clear title. Motorsports, LLC was founded and started by myself and my best friend of almost 30 years now. While M.E.S. was “officially” put into action around 2012, it really started back in the 90’s during our high school days. Even back then we were in each other’s garage every weekend working on our cars. We have always shared the same enthusiasm for that one thing…..Automobiles! Hot rods, classics, customs, sports cars, fast cars, loud cars, basically anything with 4 wheels and an engine. For as long as I can remember we’ve always enjoyed “playing” with cars and recently decided to share our passion and creativity with others and thus M.E.S. Motorsports, LLC was officially launched . At this time we are not licensed car dealers but rather auto enthusiasts with a passion for buying and selling cars to and from other auto enthusiasts and collectors. Our goal is to sell cars that you can actually get into and drive anywhere! We believe that cars are actually meant to be driven on the road and not just stored. A lot of the cars that we find are from individuals who are simply not using them anymore or that started restoring them but never finished. Some cars may just need some cleaning and a tune up while other may need paint or finish work. Whatever the case is, we try to address any issues and get them road worthy. We hate to see any car just sitting, rotting or not being used. We believe that everyone out there should have the car of their dreams and that they should be able to drive it anywhere they want to go!

Woman trades 1914 Model T in for 2013 Corvette
Wed, 17 Apr 2013We're sure that dealers must see all sorts of interesting trade ins, but this one may take the cake. Red River Chevrolet in Bossier City, Louisiana, recently had a customer come in with an odd request. Tina Boyter wanted to trade in three vehicles on a brand-new 2013 Chevy Corvette. Among the hardware was 1980 Corvette, a 1978 Cadillac Eldorado and a 1914 Ford Model T. While the '80 Corvette had been her personal car for years, the '78 Eldorado had belonged to Boyter's mother before she traded up to a Lincoln. The big Caddy had just 10,290 miles on the clock when it was traded in.
And the Model T? Boyter says the car was built as a racer by Ford, and that it had been a show winner for years when it belonged to her father. But, after spending the last 16 years in a museum with its fluids drained, Boyter decided it was time to shed some of the past. She walked into the dealer, laid eyes on a white 2LT Corvette with a red interior and offered to trade all three of the vehicles in on the sports car.
Why not wait for the C7? "I fell in love with that one when I walked in the door," She said. We can't fault her there.
Ford's first PHEV in Europe could be C-Max
Fri, Oct 17 2014Ford could start selling a plug-in hybrid in Europe pretty soon, according to at least one of its executives. Whether it's willing to do so is another story. But if the market perks up, so will the company. The automaker can "quickly" develop a plug-in hybrid version of its Mondeo, the sister car to the Ford Fusion, Automotive News Europe says, citing Ford executive Uli Koesters. The subject of Ford selling plug-in hybrids in Europe is more vital than ever since Volkswagen recently started selling its first PHEV (a Golf) there. VW will also debut a Passat PHEV next year. Koesters was less certain about whether there was sufficient European demand to warrant a production PHEV from Ford. Europe's biggest-selling plug-in hybrid through the first half of the year was the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. That model, according to JATO Dynamics, moved almost 9,000 units through June. Toyota sold almost 4,300 Prius Plug-in Hybrids in Europe during that time period. And we can't be sure Ford's first European PHEV will be the Modeo/Fusion, either. In fact, Ford's first plug-in hybrid for Europe is more likely to be the C-Max, John Gardiner, a Ford spokesman in Europe, told AutoblogGreen. He would only say that it would be sold "in selected markets soon," without being more specific. Ford's two PHEVs in the US have been selling well this year. Through September, sales of the Fusion Energi PHEV almost tripled to 9,323 units, while Ford C-Max Energi PHEV sales were up 51 percent to 6,486 units.
Autoblog's June 2019 Editors' Picks
Wed, Jul 10 2019Each year we review, test and rate hundreds of brand-new cars, trucks and SUVs. We rate these vehicles using the Autoblog score, giving a select few our Editors’ Pick. Here are the best cars we drove in June 2019. 2019 BMW 8 Series Everyone on the Autoblog staff loves a good grand tourer, so we were excited to get behind the wheel of the revived BMW 8 Series, specifically an M850i Coupe. A good GT needs to be as fast as it is stylish and comfortable, and the new 8 Series delivers. We particularly like the 523-horsepower twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8Â’s copious power and smooth ride quality, even on MichiganÂ’s pockmarked post-winter roads. We dig the interior design, too, though not everyone was in love with the exterior. ItÂ’s not the best-handling car in its class, and doesnÂ’t hide its sizable proportions very well, but itÂ’s still worth a look if youÂ’re looking for a big, fast cruiser. 2019 Ford Expedition Crossovers may be the hottest vehicles on the market, but thereÂ’s still a sizable demand for traditional body-on-frame SUVs like the Ford Expedition. These behemoths offer plenty of space in addition to truck-like capability. We like the Expedition's smooth ride, powerful twin-turbo V6 and sharp exterior design, though the interior can feel a bit cheap, especially on some of the more expensive trims. Adding options quickly puts it into Lincoln Navigator territory, and itÂ’s hard to recommend the Ford over the Lincoln when the latter packs the same capability into a far nicer package. Still, the Expedition is as good or better than the competition in most respects, and thatÂ’s why itÂ’s one of our picks. 2019 Toyota 86 Few cars at any price point are as much fun as the Toyota 86 (and its twin, the Subaru BRZ). We like the 86Â’s balanced chassis and sharp steering, and while itÂ’s not as nimble as its close rival the Mazda MX-5 Miata, the ToyotaÂ’s back seat and trunk make it a more usable vehicle. But while we like the 86Â’s driving position, the rest of the interior feels cheap and dated, especially the infotainment system. We complained about the anemic powertrain back in 2012, and itÂ’s only gotten worse as the years have gone by.
