Up for auction is my 1971 Ford Torino 500 model, uniquely equipped. Its powered by its ORIGINAL M code, 285hp 351 4 barrel Cleveland engine backed by its original C6 transmission. The 9" rear end houses its original 3.00 geared traction lock differential. The engine runs strong and the trans shifts like it should. It has a nice cam in and a 3000 stall converter from Broader Performance. GREAT SOUNDING full length dual exhaust with Flowmaster 44's. Looking at the Marti report, it shows the car was not dealer stock order but specifically ordered with these options by a customer. Along with the drivetrain, it is equipped with power steering, power disc brakes, air conditioning, tinted glass, visibility group (under hood, trunk, glove box and map lamps), sport mirrors, styled steel wheels and the in dash tachometer. The interior is in good shape but could use a dash pad or a dash cap. The door panels, upholstery, headliner all in nice shape. This is a very solid car as it spent the first part of its life at the southern end of Indiana, not far from Kentucky. It has most of its life North Carolina (since early 80's). All lamps work; turn signals, brake lights, headlights, horn, wipers, windshield washer, heater fan, dash lights, tachometer, door locks, parking brake. Brake pads are at about 50% and rotors are in good shape. Car starts right and and runs/drives/stops good. No smoke, knocks or ticks. While the car has a small amount of rust at the lower rear 1/4, it is nowhere near a rust bucket. This is an EXTREMELY solid car otherwise and is VERY straight! The floors, doors, fenders, cowl, trunk, EVERYTHING is solid solid solid.. The front shock towers have NOT been torched for greasing the upper control arms which is a rare find.
The car has new window crank knobs and door lock knobs, dome lamp lens, Duralast Gold battery, reproduction battery cables, battery hold down and bolts, remanufactured correct carburetor, wiper refills in original frames, pre-bent fuel line from fuel pump to carburetor, Monroe front shocks, Cooper Cobra tires and Alpine 6x9 rear speakers. It has an older JVC cassette deck that DOES work. I do have the original shoulder belts and they go with the car along with the air conditioning compressor. The compressor is not frozen so it should be good. I have receipts and paperwork going back to the mid 80's and covering 4 different owners. The vehicle also retains its original owners manual, operators manual, warranty card, starting instructions sleeve and warrranty facts guide. It has all 5 of the styled steel wheels. Correct, new reproduction center caps for the wheels. In addition to all of this, during the end of August and beginning of September, the engine was pulled for installation of the stall converter along with an engine bay clean and detail. Engine - cleaned, new oil pan/timing cover/water pump/valve cover/ intake gaskets/ carburetor and a repaint. Fresh distributor (has a Pertronix conversion) and carter fuel pump. Engine has a double roller timing set. New engine harness and all new/fresh decals and markings. New valve springs and belts, fresh Motorcraft oil filter and Brad Penn oil. Engine bay - Degreased / Powerwashed, prepped and painted with Rustoleum 7777. Everything has either been cleaned and detailed or is new. All fresh replated hardware. Concours restored wiper motor. Reproduction battery cables, radiator and heater hoses, hose clamps, decals, windshield washer pump, master cylinder cover and master cylinder mounting nuts. Alternator cleaned and painted, reproduction fan and pulley. I have pictures from engine removal, cleaning, painting right up to the finished product. Grill Assembly - Complete grill assembly disassembled, cleaned, taped off and painted. Headlight stands/buckets disassembled, cleaned and painted. Heater core removed, repaired (broke soldered joint for tube), flushed and pressure tested. Heater control repaired and all underhood vacuum lines for heater/AC system repaired/replaced and properly run. Heater box now functions as it should with vent/heat/de-fog and de-ice functions working properly. Blower motor works great. Great heat! I'm sure there's a lot of things I'm forgetting and I'm always updating and making things more factory correct.. Ran 14.70 at the Pure Stock Muscle Car Drag Race with a 4.11 locker installed. The car currently has its original 3.00 traction loc differential installed. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Rd_NoRgp8A $500 DEPOSIT due within 48 hours via paypal, Balance due within 5 says of auctions end and it may be in the form of cash, cashiers check or wire transfer. Ford Australia reveals updated Territory, Falcon via Twitter
Mon, 28 Jul 2014Ford may have tied together much of its global lineup under the One Ford campaign, but one market where it still offers unique products is Australia. That will soon draw to a close as well, but before it does, the Blue Oval's Aussie operations are rolling out refreshed versions of its two unique products. For the moment, Ford isn't revealing much in the way of powertrain details, but it has shown off a couple of snaps of the revised products on its in-market Twitter feed.
First up is the new Territory. The SUV is neither based on a front-drive crossover platform nor on a truck frame, but shares its rear-drive underpinnings with the Falcon, taking it a step beyond the Falcon wagon alongside which it sits in Ford's Aussie range. Like the outgoing third-generation SZ Territory, the facelifted version is dominated by a narrow grille and larger front air dam, but further punctuates its big-chinned look with more rugged lower cladding and other metallic inserts that bring its look up to date.
And there's the Falcon, which Ford revealed in XR8 trim just last week and is now presenting in G6E spec. If the XR8 is the performance model, the G6E is the luxury version, swapping in more refined trim like a chrome-slat grille (instead of a black honeycomb), chrome foglamp surrounds, less-aggressive multi-spoke wheels (instead of five-spokes) and a flatter hood (instead of a power bulge). Otherwise, it looks essentially the same as the one we saw last week, its facelift bringing it more in line with the smaller, front-drive Mondeo (which we know here as the Fusion) and other members of the Ford family.
TRANSLOGIC 147: CES 2014 Autonomous Vehicles
Wed, Jan 15 2014We head back to CES in Las Vegas to check on the progress of autonomous vehicles in 2014. We go hands-free on the highway with Audi, narrowly avoid a collision with Ford and hear all about BMW's drifting driverless car. But first we take a ride on Induct's self-driving Navia shuttle.
Ford Escort is ready to focus on the Chinese market
Mon, 21 Apr 2014Ford officially revived the Escort name in China, showing of the new, four-door compact at the Beijing Motor Show. Painted in a stylish brown-bronze, the new sedan wears a number of global Ford styling cues while sharing its platform with the Ford Focus.
Power for the new model comes from a 1.5-liter four-cylinder, although Ford doesn't specify just how much power is on offer, simply saying that the fuel economy of the new mill will be "outstanding." It's unclear what transmission will be distributing the engine's power, although based on the images we've seen, the Escort will definitely offer a two-pedal setup.
The layout of the cabin is fairly clean, although as we mentioned in our initial post on the new Escort, it's a decidedly sparser environment than we've grown use to in US-spec Fords of late. If anything, it's like a weird blend of current Ford switchgear with an overall look that reminds us of older Ford layouts. Still, it looks like a comfortable way of moving five people about without too much fuss. There's ample space both front and rear, and a rather spacious trunk.
