Link to video http://youtu.be/dABbgl_zlXo 1971 Ford Torino 2 door hardtop, this is a very solid and original car with 114k original miles. It has a strong 302 V8 with automatic transmission and power steering. It is an off white color with original dark green interior. It can be left alone and driven and enjoyed as is or take it to the next level while you drive it. The car has been lowered a couple inches in the front which gives it a great look. It has recently had some work done including: rear end rebuilt with 3.50 gears installed, new windshield installed and a new battery. The body is very original and solid with virtually no rust. Much of the paint is original and the car does not appear to have ever been wrecked. The quarters, floors, trunk, taillight panel, cowl and frame rails are all very rust free. I don’t see any bubbles in the paint anywhere and there is no evidence of previous rust repair. Body lines are good and the hood is not warped like on many other Torino’s. Door hinges are tight and the latch area on the doors are not cracked out like most of them. There are some dents in the driver’s door and a crease on the passenger rear quarter panel. There are a couple dings in the roof and one in the left quarter. The paint is presentable for a driver but I would call it a 20 footer. It is thin in spots, has been touched up in several areas and has chips and scratches. Much of the paint is original and it is thin in spots, especially the hood from years of buffing. There are various chips and scratches here and there. Valances have some minor dents but don’t look too bad. The previous owner had started to sand the car down in areas for a repaint and he welded up the emblem holes on the rear quarters. The back section of the rear quarters have been resprayed along with the front fenders and other areas of the car. The color matches pretty well but the sanding was not the best so there are sanding marks. It looks ok but the car really deserves a full repaint. Or just dress it up with a blacked out hood and tail panel, rear wing, front spoiler or whatever you prefer. Factory sport mirrors have been added and there is a small hole in each door left from the original chrome mirrors. All glass is good and the windshield is brand new. Front bumper is straight with good chrome. Rear bumper is straight but has some pitting. Grill is in nice shape, rocker mouldings are in good shape and wheel well trim is overall nice but there are dings in a couple of them. Wheels are 14x7’s from a Torino GT that have been powder coated gloss black and have good Firestone tires. They currently have poverty type caps but you could put Torino GT caps and rings on if you prefer. The interior is in good shape overall and is original down to the carpet, which is still in surprisingly good shape. The headliner is very nice, no holes or separating seams. Dash pad has some minor cracking starting but still looks good. Driver’s seat is showing some wear, is splitting at some seams but is solid and does not sag. Door panels are pretty good. Package tray is in good shape and has had speakers added. It has an aftermarket steering wheel, an older AM/FM and non original seat belts. The 302 runs good with no smoke or noises and has been nicely detailed. It is all stock down to the heat riser, fan shroud etc except for a nice sounding dual exhaust system with glass packs. Transmission works well. 3.50 gears were just installed in the original rearend which give the car a lot more power out of the hole. The car drives nice, tracks straight and is smooth on the highway. The steering has a bit of play which is typical for these early Torino's. All the lights work, including the backup lights! Heater works and heat/defroster levers move freely. Wipers, horn and radio all work. Interior lights don’t currently work and the temp gauge stopped working, it was behaving strangely and then quit working. It has a new sending unit so I believe the gauge is bad so I will include another temp gauge with the car. Overall this is a very clean and solid car that is ready to be driven or can be a blank canvas ready to build it the way you want it. Car is sold as is where is. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. I have done my best to describe it accurately but please understand it is a 40+ year old car that is not perfect. It is available for inspection by appointment. I reserve the right to end the auction at any time but I intend to let the auction run its course. The reserve is very reasonable on this car. Full payment must be received within 5 days of auction end (no paypal). Payment must clear before car is picked up. It must be picked up within 21 days of auction end unless prior arrangements are made. International buyers are welcome. Bidders with a feedback rating of less than 10 must contact me before bidding or I will cancel you bid. |

2014 Ford Cobra Jet announced with new colors, parachute mount
Fri, 22 Mar 2013Ford's drag-strip-ready Mustang Cobra Jet is back for 2014, and it's sporting a few changes to make it even better - both in competition and while sitting still. Rolling off the assembly line ready for duty in the NHRA Stock or Super Stock classes, production of the 2014 Cobra Jet is limited to just 50 units.
Racing upgrades for 2014 include the addition of a new three-speed transmission and a parachute mount, and while these will make the car better in the quarter mile, the Cobra Jet's new colors will make it look better tearing down the track. Buyers can now get their racecars painted up in Gotta Have-It Green or a custom, Cobra Jet-exclusive matte black hue. Ford and Ford Racing have already teamed up to make this an incredible factory drag racer with a full rollcage, massive Hoosier slicks, a race-tuned suspension setup and a supercharged 5.0-liter V8. Now, if only wheelie bars came standard...
Unlike the confusing third-party ordering system announced for the COPO Camaro, all you need to snatch up a 2014 Cobra Jet is $97,990 and good timing (as the cars will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis). Ordering opens up next month with production commencing in July. Check out the press release below.
Ford to ramp up Lincoln rollout in China in bid to catch rivals
Thu, Apr 12 2018DETROIT/BEIJING — Ford Motor Co's premium Lincoln brand plans to build as many as five new vehicles in China by 2022, according to two U.S. sources, in a move to expand sales in the world's largest vehicle market that would also blunt the impact of trade U.S.-China trade spats. Ford has said it plans to build an all-new sport utility vehicle in China by the end of 2019, however the company has not detailed future production plans for the Lincoln brand in China beyond that. "Our localization plans to support the China market are on track and will serve to further drive Lincoln's growth in China," Lincoln spokeswoman Angie Kozleski said. "Beyond that, it would be premature to discuss our future product and production plans or timing." Sources familiar with Ford's production plans told Reuters the automaker now expects to begin building the new Lincoln Aviator in China in late 2019 or early 2020, along with replacements for the MKC compact crossover and the MKZ midsize sedan, followed in 2021 by the all-new Nautilus, which replaces the Lincoln MKX crossover. A fifth model, a small coupe-like crossover, is tentatively slated for production in China in 2022, the sources said. Ford has much to lose if the war of words over trade between China and U.S. President Donald Trump escalates into a full-blown tariff war. Last year, it shipped about 80,000 vehicles to China from North America, more than half of them Lincolns to support the brand's growth. All Lincoln vehicles that Ford now sells in China are brought in from North America. Even if China does reduce its 25 percent tariff on imported vehicles - as Chinese President Xi Jinping promised on Tuesday - it is not clear that would mean a big, long-term increase in Fords and Lincolns made in U.S. factories heading to Chinese showrooms. Ford is pursuing long-range plans to build more vehicles in China to serve a market that is now roughly 60 percent larger than the U.S. market, and projected to keep growing. But it is playing catch up to hometown rival General Motors Co and German luxury brands including Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz, which have invested heavily in Chinese production in recent years as a form of insurance against trade, political and currency gyrations and to lower price points for their premium cars.
EPA says fuel economy test for hybrids is accurate
Mon, 26 Aug 2013
The EPA says it stands behind its fuel economy test for hybrid vehicles following controversy about the testing process after Ford C-Max Hybrid customers and automotive journalists alike struggled to achieve 47 miles per gallon, the advertised mpg number, Automotive News reports. Ford responded to the issue almost two weeks ago by claiming that a 1970s-era EPA general label rule was responsible for the inaccurate mileage numbers, rerating the C-Max Hybrid's mpg numbers and offering customers rebates. Ford later said it didn't overstate the C-Max Hybrid's fuel economy and that it was surprised by the low numbers.
Ford technically didn't do anything wrong because it was following the general label rule, but agency regulator Christopher Grundler says the automaker was exploiting a loophole when it came up with the hybrid C-Max numbers, and that the testing process remains accurate. The general label rule allows vehicles that use the same engine and transmission and are in the same weight class to share fuel economy numbers, but it doesn't take into account other factors such as aerodynamic efficiency, which affects hybrids more drastically than non-hybrid vehicles. Ford originally used the Fusion Hybrid economy figures for the C-Max Hybrid and claimed the engineers didn't realize that its aerodynamic efficiency would affect fuel economy as much as it did.
