Hard to find 1971 Ford Torino GT. 351C 2V, C-6 Auto. Original So Cal car. Solid straight body, minimal rust (especially for a 43 year old car). All original chrome bumpers, moulding and badges. Was repainted about 12 years ago, not show quality by any means but decent. PO had the motor rebuilt in early 2000's and still pulls strong. He also installed new carpet and Summit Racing seats right before he sold it to me, which was about 4 years ago. The rest of the interior is all original and in very good condition except for the dash pad, which would need to be replaced. Tires are in great shape and brakes are still good.

I was building this car to be unique and fast. I removed the power steering pump and replaced the stock 3 groove pulley with an OEM single groove pulley that came from a 1971 Mach 1 Mustang with a 351C. I also replaced the front springs with stiffer Crown Vic Patrol Car springs that allow the car to corner flat and also sits a touch higher than stock. I wanted an old-school "gasser" look. Again, it DOES NOT HAVE POWER STEERING, so please don't try and use this as a negative against the car. I have the original pump, brackets and 3 groove crank-pulley so if you want to re-install them then have at it. As for me? Turning the wheel without power steering doesn't bother me and I'd rather have a faster revving motor free of the drag a power steering pump puts on the motor.

Within the past 3 years I have replaced all the shocks, the leaf springs in the rear and new coil springs up front. I had MagnaFlow mufflers installed, a new starter and also a new U-joint for the drive shaft.

I refreshed the motor with the following components and all have less than 500 miles on them: New HEI Distributor, Holley 670cfm Street Avenger carb, Coyles Double Roller Chain, Milodon Aluminum Water Pump, Sealed Power Oil Pump and ARP Oil Pump Driveshaft, Ford Racing plug wires, Autolite Double Platinum plugs, Generator, Aluminum Water Pump Pulley and OEM Single Groove Crank Pulley (THIS CAR DOES NOT HAVE POWER STEERING), all radiator hoses and pulley belt, Thermostat, PCV Valve, Crank Filter and new gaskets for timing cover, oil pan, water pump, valve covers, etc. I sanded and repainted the oil pan, valve covers and timing cover Ford Racing Green. The timing was set and the Holley Street Avenger tuned by Bob's Carburetors in Oceanside, CA. It runs strong and pulls hard.

The following were installed when the motor was rebuilt sometime around 2002. Doug Thorley Headers, Edelbrock intake, Schneider racing cam, stock style valves and rockers with steel fulcrums (the stock aluminum fulcrums were a weak point in the original Clevelands) and a Holley 750. I still have the Holley 750, original distributor and generator. I have all the receipts for the build but they're in storage in Northern California and I wouldn't be able to get them until later on this summer.

Obviously, this isn't a show car and still has some issues, mainly the driver's side door which sags and would need to be fixed. Also there is some minor rust on either doors around the "GT" emblems and a small spot near the rear windshield (all pictured) that would have to be taken care of (if you care to do so) and the paint is only decent. The rear pumpkin will drip small drops of oil here and there, but nothing major. The interior dome light cover is missing, but the bulb is still there and still works. Also, the outer part of the passenger side grill is cracked and can be seen in the pictures as well. The fan shroud is also cracked as can be seen in the pictures.

Overall it's a solid muscle car. It's fast, and gets nasty loud when on the gas. Ford Torinos are rare, especially GT's and Cobras. You don't see a lot of them around and their values are steadily climbing. Haggerty prices a '71 Torino GT in "Fair" condition at $8,700. I would definitely rate this car a few notches above "Fair".

Ford Mustang GT500 successor spied near SVT

Tue, 17 Sep 2013

Details about the next-gen Ford Mustang are scarce, and there's even less information out there about the upcoming replacement for the Shelby GT500. Previously rumored to drop the Shelby name and wear the GT350 moniker, the highest-performance Mustang has just been spotted testing near Ford's SVT operations.
Despite being cloaked in heavy camouflage, we can instantly tell this prototype is different from other Mustang spy shots we've seen in the past. Aside from the Shelby-spec wheels, quad exhaust outlets (previous spy shots show only two) and beefier brakes, this car also has air intakes on the hood and front fenders. These elements help to neither prove nor dismiss rumors that the next SVT Mustang will be naturally aspirated. It also looks like Ford is may be planning some changes to this car's rear suspension, as there is some extra camouflage added beneath the rear end of this prototype.
As a bonus, these spy shots also give us our first look inside the new Mustang, revealing a new steering wheel (with more buttons) and a glimpse of the dual-pod instrument gauges. Check out past spy shots of the 2015 Mustang showing off its new face and driving around town.

Ford set to target pre-school market with next F-150 variant

Tue, Jun 17 2014

How do you build a strong group of loyalists from the next generation of American drivers? You start em' young. Ford has taken that lesson to heart, as we can see in the first batch of images of the company's new entry to the pre-school market, the Power Wheels F-150. This particular example was caught returning from testing around Ford's base of operations in Dearborn, MI – covered in tiny little bits of camouflage, too. Now, this could very well end up being a collaboration between Power Wheels and Ford. Then again, it could just be some bored engineers that decided to troll the local congregation of spy photographers, who earlier today captured images of the next Focus RS and SVT Mustang. Whatever it is, it's pretty darn cool. Take a look up top for images of the new Power Wheels F-150.

Ford recalling 2015 Mustang for fuel line leak, 20K Transit Connects for plastic panel

Fri, Dec 5 2014

Ford is recalling 738 examples of the 2015 2015 Mustang with the 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine – 712 in the US, 16 in Canada. A fuel pressure sensor might have been installed incorrectly on the affected cars, and that could result in a fuel leak. At the time of writing the company hasn't heard any reports of any incidents related to the issue, and parties with affected vehicles can take them to the dealer to have the fuel tube assembly replaced free of charge. The 2014 Transit Connect Cargo Van is also the subject of a safety recall, due to a possible problem with adhesive used on the exterior plastic panel on the sliding doors. There are 19,825 units covered by that recall, which dealers will also repair free of charge. You can find more information on both bulletins in the press releases below. Ford Issues Safety Recall for Certain 2015 Mustang Vehicles in North America for Fuel Pressure Sensor Issue Dec 4, 2014 | DEARBORN, Mich. - Ford is issuing a safety recall for approximately 730 2015 Ford Mustang vehicles in North America (actual 728) for a potential fuel line leak. A fuel pressure sensor, which is part of the fuel supply tube assembly, may have been installed incorrectly, potentially resulting in a pressurized fuel leak. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source may result in a fire. Ford is not aware of any fires, accidents or injuries related to this condition. Affected vehicles include certain 2015 Ford Mustangs equipped with 2.3-liter engines built at Flat Rock Assembly Plant, Sept. 25, 2014 to Oct. 9, 2014. Ford is aware of 712 vehicles in the United States and federalized territories and 16 in Canada. These totals are as of Dec. 3, 2014. Dealers will replace the fuel supply tube assembly at no cost to the customer. *** Ford Issues Safety Recall for Certain 2014 Transit Connect Cargo Van Vehicles in North America for Issue with the Plastic Panel on the Sliding Doors Dec 4, 2014 | DEARBORN, Mich. - Ford is issuing a safety recall for approximately 20,000 2014 Transit Connect cargo van vehicles in North America (actual 19,825) for an issue with adhesion of an exterior plastic panel to the sliding doors. This issue may result in noise, a water leak, a loose panel, or separation of the plastic panel from the vehicle while driving, potentially increasing the risk of an accident or injury. Ford is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this condition.
