Here it is! A classic and RARE 1971 Ford Torino GT Convertible in original grabber yellow.

This is an original California car that I purchased just over a year ago from a doctor a few hours away; he purchased it off of eBay in 2005 for nearly $12,500.00 we will let it sell at auction for an opening bid less than half of that!

This is a project car in the sense that it needs a little work and could be brought up to show status with someone with more time than I have. I am an Antiques and Art dealer that has recently acquired a new building and have many shows that I travel to; as well as a wife, two daughters, etc..., I simply don't have the time to pursue this car at this point in my life.

The Torino starts and runs, but idles rough with shaking at times and runs very rich (maybe the carb needs rebuilt?), transmission is fine, but this will need a good tuneup (new battery and spark plug wires have been installed, but that's as far as it got). You will need to transport the vehicle on a trailer until you get these things done. I am nowhere near a car expert so this is being sold "as is where is". I literally bought the car, drove it around the block and put it in the garage for the last year :( Regular maintenance looks to have been done on the vehicle and I have a large book of paperwork from the past owners, as well as the original invoice! Car also has extra parts in the trunk, including a pair of NOS racing mirrors that the last owner purchased for $420 when he bought the vehicle back in '05. Cosmetically (please see condition report) there are some shallow dents and with the largest on the front right fender, some scratches, paint worn off the top of the driver door where someone rubbed their watch back and forth for years, the radio is in the glovebox, a small damaged spot on the right side of the grill, missing the Torino badge on the hood, general wear from a vehicle of this age, but overall it looks very nice; no rust; people will love this car just as it sits, but with the right elbow grease and time you could have yourself a $30,000 muscle car.

RARE, they only made 1,613 of these in 1971, this is a true collectors car at an extremely reasonable price. This car has NO RESERVE and will sell to the highest bidder; no games.

Again, the car has been sitting for the last year in my garage and should be bought as a project, just so you are not expecting a show quality, but with the possibility of getting there.

Invoice shows 351 CID 2V 8 Cylinder Engine

So basically this is in my garage (as you can see from the pictures!) and is being offered at a very low opening bid with NO RESERVE and will sell to the highest bidder no matter how much I lose. If you are looking for a rare 1971 Torino Convertible here it is!

You will need to pick up the vehicle from my location or arrange a shipper to pick it up (USHIP is great).

That's it, a great American Classic that should be brought back to it's glory, have fun and don't miss out.

Will the new Ford GT race at Le Mans?

Tue, Jan 13 2015

Ford stole the spotlight here on the floor of the Detroit Auto Show this year with the reveal of the new GT. Its carbon-fiber chassis, 600-plus-horsepower EcoBoost engine and radical aerodynamic shape made sure of that, but flanking it with the debuts of the Mustang GT350R and F-150 Raptor didn't hurt any, either. Any racing fan looking at the new Blue Oval supercar, however, had to wonder whether Dearborn is planning on putting it on the race track. The House that Hank Built is, after all, a known entity in motor racing. It may be canceling its V8 Supercars program Down Under, withdrawn its support from the World Rally Championship, and it's been years since it's competed in Formula One or Indy. But it still competes in the United SportsCar Championship, NASCAR, NHRA and a variety of motor racing disciplines. One of its most famous and celebrated of racing endeavors, however, came in the form of the original GT40 that brought Ford four consecutive victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, starting with a dominant one-two-three finish in 1966. It's the 50th anniversary of that landmark win which the new Ford GT celebrates, but while the press materials made clear reference to that historical event, any mention of a return as was previously speculated was carefully omitted. That, according to Autosport, could come down purely to the ACO, the organizers of the event and sanctioning body for its associated series, which has yet to announce the revised format for the GTE class under which a potential Ford GT racer would compete in 2016. Longtime Ford racing partner Multimatic is said to have closely consulted with the ACO on the formation of those rules, however, and assuming they're finally formulated to Dearborn's liking, we could be looking at a GTE-spec Ford GT to return to La Sarthe next year in celebration of that landmark victory half a century prior. Chip Ganassi Racing – which races under Chevy power in NASCAR and Indy but recently switched to Ford for its Daytona Prototype – is said to be in line to field the car on Dearborn's behalf. If given the green light, it would be the first time Ford would field a factory effort at Le Mans since the C100 project under the Group C category in the early 1980s. A racing version of the previous Ford GT was prepared by Switzerland-based Matech a few years ago, but without factory support or notable success beyond the FIA GT3 European Championship.

Ford is recalling more Takata airbag-equipped Ford and Lincoln models

Thu, Mar 2 2017

The Basics: Takata, the beleaguered airbag supplier at the root of the largest recall in automotive history, has informed Ford of a problem with the airbags in just over 30,000 Ford and Lincoln models. The problem is not related to the non-desiccated ammonium nitrate airbag inflators that plague the other airbags ( including many Fords), meaning there isn't a risk of shrapnel flying out from the units in this particular recall. The Problem: In the event of an accident, the front airbags may only partially inflate, and the airbag may become detached from the module because of misaligned parts. The problem affects 2016 and 2017 Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX models built at the Oakville Assembly Plant. The issue also affects 2017 Lincoln Continentals that were built at the Flat Rock Assembly Plant. Injuries/Deaths: In a release, Ford stated that it is not aware of any accidents, injuries, or deaths related to the airbag issue. The Fix: Dealers will replace the driver-side front airbag module at no cost. If You Own One: Sit tight and wait for Ford to notify owners. When that happens, take your car to the dealer for a replacement. Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. Ford director says company has big efficiency plans, but no dedicated EV

Wed, Mar 12 2014

The annual autofest known as the North American International Auto Show previews a plethora of exciting new products that we'll see and drive later in the year, from tiny urban commuters to family sedans and crossovers to hard-working big pickups and SUVs. It's also a once-a-year cornucopia of auto executives and leaders from around the world. "There will be some really fun stuff that you'll hear about in the future" - Ford's Kevin Layden So, in-between dozens of cool new-product unveilings on rotating stages during the two press days preceding the public show, we auto scribes grab what planned and impromptu interviews we can. Sessions with top industry leaders can be hard to get, but I was able to score a seat in a group session with then-General Motors North America president (now executive VP of global product development) Mark Reuss, and I also managed brief one-on-ones with a trio of vehicle electrification leaders, one each from Ford, BMW and GM, and what they said then remains relevant now. First up is Kevin Layden, Ford's Director of Electrified Powertrain Engineering. ABG: Where will Ford go beyond its current Focus EV and hybrids, and will there be a Ford EV and/or hybrid on its own energy-optimized platform one day. KL: We don't want to do a dedicated electric vehicle with all the development costs borne by a niche product. At the Michigan Assembly plant right now we're building the Focus electric, PHEV and EcoBoost on the same assembly line. Also the C-Max, with both a hybrid and an Energi plug-in, and we use that same power pack in the Fusion Hybrid and Energi. We want to be, "The power of choice" [a Ford marketing slogan], so having that choice for customers is very important. And if I want to sell the Fusion, Focus and C-Max globally, we can use these power packs wherever it makes sense. So as we go forward, you'll see us proliferating the power packs we have today. Then the question is, what do we do next? There will be some really fun stuff that you'll hear about in the future. ABG: Is the efficiency difference between a dedicated ultra-efficient vehicle platform and a shared multi-use platform getting smaller as all platforms get more efficient? KL: Exactly. Were going through aero studies now on wheels and tires and hood sealers on base vehicles. We have full aerodynamic wind tunnel studies going on with the base Focus and C-Max, so all of that [aerodynamic improvement] will be there for EVs.
