1970 Ford Torino GT

Original 429 Big Block!

Rust Free & Gorgeous

Over 100 pics, scroll down

You are viewing an absolutely beautiful and very rare 1970 Ford Torino GT 429 Fastback. By looking at the codition of this car, you just know its been extremely well maintained, has 95K original miles. The car still retains its original N-code 429 Thunder-Jet Big Block, C-6 Transmission and 9 inch Rear with 3:90 gears and Detroit Locker. The exterior is Code-T Ford Red, with a Black interior.

The 429 roars to life with a click of the key and quickly settles into a smooth idle. The entire motor has been recently rebuilt with performance in mind and has all the best parts, SCJ internals, heads redone with roller rockers, new Holley Double Pumper Etc.. Huge Hooker Super Comp Headers flow through the true duel exhaust and exit out the back with new chrome tips. This engine runs truly great and I wouldn't hesitate to drive it anywhere. The original C-6 shifts smoothly and with its original 9" rear with a 390 Detroit Locker, You've got an awesome Muscle Car! This car will smoke both rear tires as far as you want it to!

The exterior is all original panels with no signs of rust at all. The car is as straight as they come, the Red base coat, clear coat shines beautifully and you'd really have to look hard (with your glasses on) to find any flaws, I think there may be 2 or 3 tiny chips that have been touched up. The black interior is fresh, with new headliner, dash, seat covers, carpet, and a very nice (expensive) reconditioned console. If you don't like the aftermarket gauges, we can remove them for you. Everything appears to be in working order. Windows are nice and roll up & down nicely.

The underside of this car is very clean and absolutely rust free. The floors, torque boxes, frame rails, trunk etc. are all super nice, has many new steering & suspension parts.

Car is equipped with, Power Disc Brakes (completely rebuilt), Power Steering, like new Magnum 500 wheels on a new set of BF Goodrich T/A Radials, GT package, Bucket seats, Console, AM FM Stereo (have original), 429 Thunder-Jet, C6, Positive Traction, color keyed mirrors etc.. The chrome on the car is extremely nice, no pits on the chrome on top of the doors and under the quarter windows (there usually so pitted they look like cheese graters). Every single emblem is new, the rear bumper is nice, the front bumper has some fade. Every piece of weather stripping has been replaced.

This car is very tight and is a top quality Muscle Car. More rare than a Cobra. I just want to mention that when we were taking the pictures that it was very overcast and started to drizzle, the front bumper has water drops on it and the clouds are reflecting on the roof and deck, don't confuse the reflections as dull spots. If you think the car looks good in these pics, then wait until you see it, even better!

As always please ask all question or feel free to look at the car PRIOR to auctions end. We can store the car for up to 30 days free (once paid) to allow time to get a shipper if needed. We can also help obtain shipping at buyers expense.

Please call Tim anytime @ (845)728-0428 or (845)728-6575 to discuss the car or to inquire about a Buy-It-Now. Car is for sale locally and can be sold at any time. Don't miss out on this great opportunity to own this rare classic. There are 135 pictures below, please give it time to load, its worth it!

Lower gas prices mean there are excellent deals on green cars right now

Sat, Jan 17 2015

The phenomenon was big enough to make news in 2006, then in 2008, in 2011, in 2012, in 2013, and again last year: a big move in gas prices means a big move in alternative-fuel-vehicle sales. True Car's TrueSavings report, which averages transaction prices across the country to figure out what people are paying compared to MSRP, shows that electric cars and hybrids are ripe for excellent savings right now. The Ford Focus Electric presents the greatest disparity, with the average transaction price of $25,168 representing a 16.1-percent saving off its $29,995 MSRP. The Kia Optima Hybrid and Toyota Prius also snagged spots in the top five, with the Kia offering a 10.7-percent discount and the Toyota a 10.1-percent discount. One hybrid managed to show up among the top five lease offers, too: the Lincoln MKZ Hybrid is just $315 a month for 36 months after $3,875 down in some markets. Alt-energy vehicles got bumped out of the top five finance deals, however. That was dominated by light trucks and, oddly, two subcompacts. The press release below has more details. TrueCar finds hybrids, EVs top list of best savings in January Gasoline price plunge = savings for consumers on alternative fuel vehicles SANTA MONICA, Calif., Jan. 15, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Ford's Focus Electric hatchback, which sells at an average of 16 percent off MSRP, tops January's list of best savings on new vehicles, according to TrueCar, Inc. (NASDAQ: TRUE), the negotiation-free car buying and selling platform. The "TrueSavings" monthly report analyzes current transaction prices and identifies opportunities for consumer savings. "Fuel savings are not top of mind to many consumers right now, and that makes this a great time to buy a hybrid or electric vehicle," said John Krafcik, president of TrueCar. "With gasoline prices now averaging just $2.10 per gallon, and vehicle preferences tied so closely to short-term gasoline prices, automakers are heavily discounting their most fuel-efficient cars to clear inventories." Toyota's Prius, the world's best-selling alternative fuel vehicle for more than a decade, also makes January's list of best savings. Customers who purchase a Prius Two model this month can save 10 percent off the hybrid car's $25,025 MSRP. "Gasoline prices and vehicle type preferences are strongly related, and this relationship is cyclical in nature," said Krafcik.

Ford GT dominates Le Mans qualifying, gets slapped with performance adjustment

Fri, Jun 17 2016

Fifty years after Bruce McLaren and Chris Amon drove the Ford GT40 to victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Ford is poised for a historic return to the Circuit de la Sarthe. The new Ford GT took the top two qualifying positions in the LMGTE Pro class, and four of the top five. Ferrari's 488 filled in the rest of the spots in the top seven, the first two from AF Corse. In other words, we're primed for a reboot of the classic Ford-Ferrari feud at this year's race. Or not, as the ACO, which organizes the 24 Hours of Le Mans, announced sweeping pre-race Balance of Performance (BOP) adjustments this morning that make this year's GT class anybody's race. In LMP1, last year's overall winner Porsche locked up the top two spots with the 919 Hybrid and will lead the entire field at race start. Toyota's two-car factory effort followed with qualifying times 1.004 and 2.170 seconds behind the pole lap. Audi rounds out the manufacturer-backed LMP1 class in fifth and sixth. Full qualifying results can be found here. The storyline for the GT cars is perfect - some say too perfect. Ford's class-leading times came after BOP adjustment to the Corvette Racing C7.R before qualifying. BOP is intended to level the playing field in the class by adjusting power, ballast, and fuel capacity. (Check out this explainer video for more, or even just if you love French accents.) But the process is riddled with unknowns and ripe for accusations of sandbagging. That is, if the Ford cars were intentionally slow in practice they could hope for BOP adjustment to improve their race chances. On the Corvette side, last year's GTE Pro winner went from the top of the field to the bottom, barely improving from practice to qualifying. If you think Le Mans is as rigged at the NBA Playoffs, well, it's not that simple. Because if Ford and Ferrari held back until qualifying - the eighth-place Porsche 911 RSR is three-and-a-half seconds off the class pole time - it was a pretty dumb strategy. This morning, the ACO tried to put things back in order by limiting the boost in the Ford GT's twin-turbo V6 and adding 11 pounds of ballast. Ferrari was also given extra weight but allowed more fuel capacity. The Corvette and Aston Martin teams were both given breaks on their air restrictors, which will allow their engines to make more power. Both Ford and Porsche also received extra fuel capacity.

Amelia Island 2013: 50 years of the Ferrari-slaying Ford GT40

Wed, 13 Mar 2013

Originally developed with the sole purpose of being a Ferrari rival to compete at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Ford GT40 became a prominent racing machine in the 1960s in both Europe and the US. Not wanting to leave such an important car out of the fun, the 2013 Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance also took time out from its other celebrations to recognize the 50-year anniversary of the GT40.
Over its short lifespan, the GT40 was offered in a handful of configurations, but the classic short-tailed (Mk I and Mk II) bodystyles were well represented... especially in Gulf livery. James Glickenhaus (of Ferrari P4/5 fame) had his bright yellow Mk IV in the field, and there were several others in this bodystyle, including one that has seen plenty of time on the track judging by its chipped-up nose.
As a fitting statement for the car's lengthy racing history, GT40 Chassis Number 1075 won this year's Concours de Sport award. This car took home the checkered flag at Le Mans in 1968 and 1969, and racked up a total of six wins in just 11 races.
