1968 Ford Torino GT 2 Door Fastback. Original 390 big block, 2 barrel.  1969 428CJ engine was installed just about 300 miles ago. Engine was totally overhauled top to bottom. 10.5 to 1 compression.  Hooker long tube drag headers, Borla 12" mufflers exiting just under the front doors, original CJ intake, MSD6AL, MSD 8.5 MM wires, MSD distributor, Blaster 2 coil,  2500 stall convertor, reworked original C6 with shift kit, 9" rear with full posi 3:90 gears, 10 gal fuel cell in trunk, battery relocated to trunk, battery cutoff pull handle, extended wheel studs, 28 spline axles, heavy duty U-joints,

Engine runs very, very strong with no problems. Transmission shifts "right now!"  Car runs and drives great, never raced. Adult owned.
Again, Very Very fast!

Recent work includes:  radiator re-cored, pusher fan added with on/off switch under dash, new front disc brakes and rear drum brakes, tie rods, some ball joints, lower control arms, BF Goodrich TA Radials 235/60/14, front drag shocks, Eldelbrock carb, front wheel alignment,

Original equipment includes air conditioning, removed and included in sale. Also has power steering and power brakes

Interior never cut or modified, driver's seat torn, driver's armrest torn, headliner stained in passenger rear, steering wheel has cracks, all original glass very good, rear seat never sat in, no cracks on dash some warping, AM radio works. Original carpet. Inside rear view mirror spotted. An unmolested original interior. Console in good shape. Only modification to interior is addition of a water temp gauge.

Exterior was the victim of a 90 year old lady with less than perfect eyesight and a narrow one car garage. She managed to bump each side several times entering and exiting. Looks like the right front fender might have been replaced many years ago (the red has faded darker than the rest). Several hail dents in the body from 1970 Lubbock,TX F-5 Tornado, possibly the last remaining running example of any car with damage from that 1970 tornado. Not sure what difference that makes, but there it is. All dents are repairable. Some rust in area behind passenger rear wheel lower, see pics. Some surface rust on rear bumper, that's it. Underside surface rust only of course. Car was sold in and has always remained in dry West Texas, Lubbock to be exact. . Original paint with best C stripe of early 68 models.  Original GT wheel caps and rings. One cap missing the GT emblem. Original GT spare wheel. Gauges work with exception of gas gauge. Speedo reads high due to new rear end ratio.

Purchased from the original owner over 15 years ago by myself, she was 93 at the time. Her husband purchased the car for her new, he sadly passed shortly thereafter. No children ever sat in the car as they never had any. She never drove the car outside Lubbock county, driving it very little in the 90's.   I have a stack of receipts dating from 1970 for everything she ever had done to the car. I also have pictures and receipts of the overhaul of the 69 428CJ.

This is a rare opportunity to own a rapidly disappearing muscle car.

BTW, original running 390 engine available if desired for additional $. Inquire.
Email for more pics.
This is a NO RESERVE auction, the lucky high bidder will own this 68 fastback. A deposit of $500 is due within 48 hours of auction end, no exceptions. Cash or money order only.. Remainder to be paid in same manner upon pickup or prior to shipping. No Paypal  Shipping is the responsibility of the winning bidder. Winning bidder may pick up car at my location or I will present for loading on transport.. Car is running and can be loaded with some caution regarding low headers.
As I have stated, I am the second owner and have a clear Texas title, car is currently registered as an antique. Currently street legal.
Please check my feedback, I strive to describe my listings as honestly as possible. This has been my personal car since purchase in 1998. Never intended to sell this one, but life changes.

Thanks and happy bidding.

Ford adds 850 jobs to build 2015 F-150

Tue, 14 Oct 2014

Pickup trucks tend not to advance at quite the same pace as the rest of the industry. That's what makes the new Ford F-150 so remarkable, jettisoning its old steel construction in favor of aluminum. It's a game changer that Ford is betting big on, and in anticipation of surging demand, the Blue Oval automaker is adding 850 new jobs to put the thing together.
Those 850 new employees will be centered at Ford's Rouge complex in Michigan - with 300 at Dearborn Stamping, 50 more at Dearborn Diversified and 500 at the Dearborn Truck facility, the latter of which has already kicked off what Ford describes as "the largest manufacturing transformation in decades." Old manufacturing equipment is being replaced with the latest technologies, and even the Ford Rouge Factory Tour is undergoing a complete overhaul.
The new jobs come as part of the commitments Ford made to the UAW in 2011 to create 12,000 hourly jobs in the United States by 2015 - a number which Ford has already exceeded at 14,000. Over 4,000 of those are centered in southeastern Michigan.

Your official Ford Transit specs are here, $29,565* to start

Wed, 04 Jun 2014

Ford has released the full list of pricing and specs on its new Transit, the replacement for the long-lived E-Series cargo van. Prices are set to start at $29,565 and can increase rapidly from there, depending on length, engine and wheelbase, among other options.
Let's talk first about those new engines. The base is the familiar 3.7-liter, naturally aspirated V6. It boasts 275 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque and can return up to 14 miles per gallon in the city and 19 mpg on the highway. This engine can also be adapted to run on LPG or compressed natural gas. Of course, there are better alternatives, for a price, the first of which is Ford's well-received, 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6. It packs 310 hp and a best-in-class 400 lb-ft of torque (available at just 2,500 rpm) while matching the naturally aspirated engine in both city and highway fuel economy.
Then, there's the diesel. With a 3.2-liter, five-cylinder diesel mill at its disposal, the Transit generates 350 lb-ft between 1,500 and 2,500 rpm, along with 185 hp. This engine hasn't been rated by the EPA, although we'd be really, really surprised if it didn't handily best either of the gas-powered engines in fuel efficiency. A six-speed automatic is standard, regardless of engine.

National Geographic Channel balances Ford F-150 on four coffee mugs

Wed, 29 Jan 2014

Proving that there is still something to be learned on television these days, National Geographic Channel recently introduced a new series called Duck Quacks Don't Echo. On the first episode of this science/comedy show, host Michael Ian Black proposes the idea that a truck can be supported with a ceramic coffee mug under each wheel - yes, he says that the entire weight of a truck can be balanced on just four coffee mugs.
Looking to find out whether this is fact or myth, the show uses a regular cab Ford F-150, weighing in at 4,800 pounds, and four average coffee mugs. Lowered onto the mugs, the idea is quickly put to the test. Can the cups hold up under 4,800 pounds? If so, what, exactly, would it take to break them? Scroll down below to find out.
