57 Thunderbird Azure Blue 312cid on 2040-cars
Nuevo, California, United States
Not all 1957 "Baby
Birds" are the same. This 57 year old, always garaged Bird was one of the
last 1957s off the assembly line on or after the October 1957 build run. While
most all of 21,380 1957 T-Birds had the Starmist Blue paint this beauty has the
"Azure Blue" paint code that was introduced on the last runs of 1957
models (October 14th-December 13th 1957) for the 1958 model color. It sports the town and country radio that
takes about two minutes to warm up, and
for your comfort, a power seat and a
heater. The automatic transmission is
attached to the 312 CID V-8 and both operate smoothly with the help of the
Kelsey Hayes wheels and radial whitewalls. When you remove the top it has the
rolling rack for storing it. The gentleman I purchased the car from about 10 years ago sold it only because
he was unable to get in and out of it because of a hip replacement, and if you've have ever climbed behind the
wheel of one on of the early Birds you know it's not an easy task , even with a
good hip and the telescopic steering wheel all the way retracted. The history
passed on to me from the gentleman I purchased it from about 10 years ago is
that he purchased the car used from Ken Roggy Ford in La Puente in 1960 and had
it cosmetically redone again in 1985.
This is a no rust vehicle and is open to any inspection. This T-Bird like all
the Early "Birds" will only continue to go up in price. It's a true classic that is road ready is worth the
investment even if you just park it the garage to look at, and drive it one time a month around town
like I have done. The pictures attached do this car no justice. It's been
covered and I took the pictures prior to washing it. The purchaser is
responsible for pick up and delivery a $1000 deposit through paypal to hold for
10 days and the balance to be cashiers check, cash or bank wire paid and
cleared prior to pick-up.

Ford recalls Five Hundred, Mercury Montego sedans over fuel tank woes
Mon, 18 Jul 2011Ford has announced through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that it is recalling nearly 3,000 examples of its Five Hundred and Mercury Montego (pictured) sedans from the 2007 model year.
The action, which affects 2,945 vehicles, is due to potentially defective welds between the filler neck and the fuel tank, a condition that could result in a fuel leak or the smell of gasoline reaching the occupants. In the worst-case scenario, a leak could cause a fire. Cars with the affected fuel tank problem could see an illuminated dashboard warning light as a result of the evaporative emissions leak being detected.
Ford will inspect and replace the fuel tank at no cost to owners (those who have already had the procedure done at-cost can apply for reimbursement), and the Dearborn automaker will begin notifying Five Hundred and Montego owners beginning August 15. Check out the official NHTSA press release after the jump for further details.
2015 Ford F-150 gets Power Wheels treatment [w/video]
Thu, 26 Jun 2014With the introduction of its forthcoming 2015 F-150, Ford is breaking with convention by shifting from steel-intensive construction to aluminum. But what if it weren't made of metal altogether? What if it were made of plastic instead, and packed an electric motor instead of an internal-combustion engine?
Feast your eyes, boys and girls, on the new Power Wheels F-150. Built by Fisher-Price and licensed by Ford, the third-generation ride-on toy started development nine months before the full-size version debuted at the Detroit Auto Show this past January, and is hitting sidewalks and driveways across the country this September.
The Power Wheels F-150 carries a sticker price of $349.99, and there's a special version at Toys R Us with LED headlamps (just like the real F-150) for an extra $10.
GM readying aluminum-body fullsize pickups
Wed, 19 Feb 2014Ford's extensive use of aluminum in its 2015 F-150 is a big deal. A really big deal. Big enough, in fact, that General Motors is reportedly changing its fullsize pickup strategy. According to The Wall Street Journal, The General has locked in partnerships with Alcoa Inc. and Novelis Inc. - companies that will supply aluminum for the next-generation Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra trucks.
"Ford's introduction of the 2015 F-150 pickup truck was a game changer, and it's the first, not the last, conversion of this type," Novelis spokesperson Charles Belbin told the Journal. The switch to aluminum has allowed Ford to shave roughly 700 pounds off its fullsize truck's curb weight. And while official mileage ratings have not been announced, the weight loss should go a long way for improving efficiency, especially when combined other efficiency-minded improvements including better aerodynamics and new, turbocharged V6 engines.
Of course, aluminum-bodied cars are nothing new. But extensive use of aluminum in a major, best-selling product like the Ford F-150 is expected to kick off widespread use of this weight-saving material as availability rises and cost decreases. The WSJ reports that GM had originally explored the idea of moving to aluminum pickups back in 2008, but abandoned the idea due to cost concerns amid economic woes.
