2003 Thunderbird 2 Owner Beautiful Baby Blue on 2040-cars
Bahama, North Carolina, United States
2003 Thunderbird from 2nd Owner. Purchased from original owner 2009. Car was immaculate then and after 5k more miles it still is. This car speaks for itself. You always have someone waving, or thumbs up to you. It would be hard to find a more fun and beautiful car to drive. Ford did an excellent job with this car. It is on a heavy chassis and rides so well. The 3.9 V8 will go like a rabbit. I have all factory documentation as shown in pictures. Window sticker and order sheet, All owners manuals that include details of top removal and reinstall, Easy and fast. I have the factory tape kit that Ford shipped to put on body to avoid scratching paint when re-installing roof. Rolling roof rack included w/roof cover. Hidden away is a perfect Black convertible top. Top is also fast to raise and lower. Ashtray (never used as 1st owner and I are non-smokers) it's made to sit in drink holder if needed. I also have original (Red) top removal tool. (2) screws only to loosen. Factory Ford service Manuals have pictures and description of every inch of vehicle. Wiring book also included. You can't buy books on this edition T-Bird by Chilton's, Peterson, etc. Only in CD/DVD form. Tried at all auto parts stores and online. Big help if you are a DIY person. If not your local shop can use for all service required. Nothing major required as Transmission oil/filter service was done at 32k. only oil, filters normal due for very long time. Auto critic calls out Corvette, Mustang and Cherokee faithful
Mon, 26 Aug 2013Most automotive purists fear change, but not without reason. Change, after all, did kill big-block V8s, along with most station wagons and manual transmissions. But change has also brought with it far more performance, safety and fuel economy - not to mention ridding the world of shag carpet interiors, bias-ply tires and those horrible motorized seatbelts of the early '90s.
By this time next year, the Chevy Corvette, Jeep Cherokee and next-generation Ford Mustang will all be on sale and will all, in some way, have angered or offended purists. To those critics, Mark Phelan of the Detroit Free Press is preemptively telling them to stop complaining - at least until they've all been driven. From the Corvette's square taillights and the Cherokee's radical nose to whatever pony car purists will harp on the 2015 Mustang for, Phelan's column points out the positives of automotive evolution and the negatives of staying the course for too long. That's fair enough, but do you think Phelan is on point, or all wet? Head on over to the Detroit Free Press to read his words, then have your say in Comments.
Car companies used to cook up sales with recipe books
Fri, 08 Aug 2014The evolution of automotive marketing has undergone a number of strange phases. Few, though, match the strangeness of the 1930s to 1950s, when automotive marketers turned to cookbooks as a means of promoting their vehicles. Yes, cookbooks. We can't make this stuff up, folks.
This bizarre trend led to General Motors distributing cookbooks under the guise of its then-subsidiary Frigidaire. Ford, meanwhile, offered a compilation of recipes from Ford Credit Employees (shown above). The cookbook-craze wasn't limited to domestic manufacturers, though. As The Detroit News discovered, both Rolls-Royce and Volkswagen got in on the trend, although not until the 1970s.
The News has the full story on this strange bit of marketing. Head over and take a look.
Thieves still love older Hondas and pickups most, says NICB [w/video]
Wed, 20 Aug 2014No one wants to have their car stolen, but a new study by the National Insurance Crime Bureau has some bad news for older Honda owners and pickup drivers. Fortunately, it has better news for drivers overall. The group is reporting that according to preliminary data from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, thefts were down 3.2 percent in 2013 (versus 2012) to fewer than 700,000 cars. That's the lowest figure since 1967. That's also less than half of the peak of over 1.66 million thefts in 1991. "The drop in thefts is good news for all of us," says NICB President and CEO Joe Wehrle. "But it still amounts to a vehicle being stolen every 45 seconds and losses of over $4 billion a year."
Honda drivers might not find it such good news with older Accord and Civic models topping this year's theft study. Toyota and Dodge can't really celebrate, either, with two models each on the list, as well. Overall, this year's list was split evenly between foreign and domestic models, which were mostly pickups.
The 10 most likely vehicles to be stolen in 2013 were:
