1994 Ford Thunderbird Lx Coupe 2-door 4.6l No Reserve on 2040-cars

St. George, Utah, United States

1994 Ford Thunderbird LX in great condition. Garage kept. This car has only 36,900 original miles. Originally purchased in Orange County, California. Transferred to Utah in May of 2011. It has a 4.6 V8 engine. MPG is between 17 (around town) and 25 (highway). Runs on regular 87octane gasoline. Gets excellent gas mileage. Includes all the LX package plus leather seats, AM/FM cassette player with premium sound, power antenna, climate control AC/heat. Driver and passenger power seats. Traction Control. Keyless entry and key fob door locks. Two sets of keys. Floor mats. Large trunk. Power trunk release. Secured gas cap. Automatic lights. Power-adjust mirrors. Includes everything offered in 1994 except the sunroof. Oil changed and transmission serviced first of September. Tilt Wheel Steering. Hoses were changed and fluids were flushed when I purchased the car in 2011 at 27,000 miles. Tires have about 15,000 miles on them.  All owners manuals included. Windows tinted to Utah state code. Has passed annual inspection every year. Tires are under warranty through Discount Tire. Car has clear title and I have the pink slip. I had the car professionally detailed in October of this year. Original paint is in good shape, showing minimal dings for a car its age.  No smoking, eating or pets.

There is a small tear in the driver's side seat along the braiding (lower left by the knob that one would use to flip the seat up for rear passengers), which was there when I bought the car.  Since it's cold here now there's a bit of noise on start-up.  I checked this with my mechanic and he assured me it was just because of the cold temps. The hood has a small rumple in it.  I noticed it after I had the car serviced several months ago. The airbag light on the dash blinks occasionally.  I've also had my mechanic look at this and he said it's not any type of malfunction.  I was involved in a minor rear-end collision.  Rear left light panel was cracked.  The repair was done by a high-end body repair shop.

The car is very comfortable and rides well on the freeway.  It has a lot of getup and go.

High bidder to pay minimum of $500 at close of auction via Paypal and make all necessary shipping and/or pick up arrangements.  Balance due on day of pickup prior to release of vehicle.  Arrangement for pickup should be finalized within 7 business days of close of auction, or a mutually agreed upon time.  Please email with questions.  Local bidders are welcome to test drive.

Car-crazy 5-year-old boy writes automakers for treasures, gets big response

Fri, Jan 25 2019

Part of the beauty of children is that they can find worth in something adults might deem unworthy or overlook entirely. Five-year-old Patch Hurty didn't see garbage or a broken piece of a car when he spotted a Ford badge lying on the side of a road. He saw an artifact, a souvenir, a start to a collection he could only dream of. Ezra Dyer of Popular Mechanics tells the story of Patch and his quest to turn that one lost badge into a museum of manufacturer logos. According to the article, Hurty is a car fanatic through and through, even using car names as a way of learning to read. After finding the Ford badge near his Connecticut home, he and his mom put together a plan to reach out to dozens of automakers, confessing his love of things on four wheels. In each letter, Patch assembled a picture of himself standing next to one of the cars, and a penny to pay for whatever he hoped was sent his way. The response was unexpectedly and overwhelmingly positive. Of the more than 50 letters he sent out, including to obscure or defunct companies such as Bugatti, Suzuki, and Saturn, a majority responded with warm notes and some type of souvenir. Two of the coolest responses came from Lincoln and Bentley. Lincoln sent a sketch of a Continental (all car lovers enjoy drawing cars, right?), and Bentley sent a wheel center cap. How awesome is that? The story reminds us of something that can easily be lost in all of the negativity involved with the auto industry: Everybody is in this because of a common infatuation with automobiles. For more details on the souvenirs Patch received and accompanying photos, read the rest of the story. Ford EcoSport Storm concept swallows a Raptor in Sao Paulo

Sun, 02 Nov 2014

Ford rolled into the Sao Paulo Motor Show with some pretty cool crossovers in tow, the awesomest of all being the EcoSport Storm concept shown above, which draws its inspiration directly from the F-150 SVT Raptor. It packs a lower grille clearly derived from the now-famous muscle truck, as well as a Blue Storm paint job, black and silver trim, special graphics, lower body cladding and 215/75 R15 off-road tires. Don't go holding your breath for a supercharged V8, though; made locally in Brazil, India and Thailand, the tiny EcoSport is typically powered by a three- or four-cylinder engine.
The Storm isn't the only specially prepared Ecosport on show, however, joined as it is by another pair called Beauty and the Beast. Beauty is decked out in matte copper with a black roof, LED fog lamps, 18-inch wheels with low-profile tires and an interior complete with four individual bucket seats, leather upholstery and a full multimedia suite. The Beast, meanwhile, takes a sportier approach with a white pearl finish, blue and orange trim and three-bar grille. It also wears 18-inch wheels and LED fog lamps, but its interior swaps out its rear seats for a bike rack.
Joining the EcoSport show cars was an Edge crossover equipped with all the latest technologies and done up in bright red with three-bar grille, bulging hood, and an interior featuring 10-inch touchscreens and leather upholstery. Feel free to read more in the press release below.

Tier 1 suppliers call GM the worst OEM to work with

Mon, 12 May 2014

Among automakers with a big US presence, General Motors is the worst to work for, according to a new survey from Tier 1 automotive suppliers, conducted by Planning Perspectives, Inc.
The Detroit-based manufacturer, which has been under fire following the ignition switch recall and its accompanying scandal, finished behind six other automakers with big US manufacturing operations. Suppliers had issues with trust and communications, as well as intellectual property protection. GM was also the least likely to allow suppliers to raise their prices in the face of unexpected increases in material cost, all of which contributed to 55 percent of suppliers saying their relationship with GM was "poor to very poor."
GM's cross-town competitors didn't fare much better. Chrysler finished in fifth place, ahead of GM and behind Dearborn-based Ford, which was passed for third place this year by Nissan. Toyota took the top marks, while Honda captured second place.
