1991 Ford Thunderbird Time Capsule with only 2,158 original miles

Here is the car's story. The car was purchased April 24th, 1991 at Phil Long Ford here in Denver Colorado, by Beverly, my neighbor. She ordered the car with her son Byron to her exact specifications and equipment and waited for its arrival. During that time, her son passed away from a long illness which broke her heart.  I'm helping her sell the car as they've decided to move to Las Vegas from their home of 49 years.

The car was one of the last things that they did together, so she kept it in the garage covered, just like it rolled off the showroom floor. They added the car cover, front end bra, factory luxury floor mats, dash sun cover, splash guards, and window tinting. Since her sons passing, she has driven it on occasion and always kept it under cover. She has kept every Thunderbird article from the newspaper as well. All this memorabilia comes with the car including the original brochure and window sticker!

She purchased an extra set of wheels for the car too, thinking that she would run regular tires in the warm weather months and snow tires for the winter. These wheels have sat in her garage and were never used. The four factory matching alloy wheels, that have no tires mounted on them, are included in this sale.

The car is truly like new. No damage inside or out. Not a ding or chip anywhere.

I do want to note that the a/c has been converted to R-134a now, but needs a charge from sitting most the time.

The title is clear and ready to be transferred to the new owner.  You are welcome to come and inspect the car in person to really appreciate it.  Check my feedback and bid with confidence.  A non refundable deposit of $500 is due via PayPal immediately upon the end of the auction.  The remaining balance is due within 48 hours via Bank Wire.  All my transactions are fully documented and transparent and I believe that completing the transaction this way is more secure for all parties involved.  The Buyer is responsible for all transportation costs to their location.  The car must be picked un within seven to ten days from the end of auction.  The car is sold as-is, sale is final with no refunds or return.  Any questions?  Please call me at (303) 778-8444  Thanks MIKE

The next-generation wearable will be your car

Fri, Jan 8 2016

This year's CES has had a heavy emphasis on the class of device known as the "wearable" – think about the Apple Watch, or Fitbit, if that's helpful. These devices usually piggyback off of a smartphone's hardware or some other data connection and utilize various onboard sensors and feedback devices to interact with the wearer. In the case of the Fitbit, it's health tracking through sensors that monitor your pulse and movement; for the Apple Watch and similar devices, it's all that and some more. Manufacturers seem to be developing a consensus that vehicles should be taking on some of a wearable's functionality. As evidenced by Volvo's newly announced tie-up with the Microsoft Band 2 fitness tracking wearable, car manufacturers are starting to explore how wearable devices will help drivers. The On Call app brings voice commands, spoken into the Band 2, into the mix. It'll allow you to pass an address from your smartphone's agenda right to your Volvo's nav system, or to preheat your car. Eventually, Volvo would like your car to learn things about your routines, and communicate back to you – or even, improvise to help you wake up earlier to avoid that traffic that might make you late. Do you need to buy a device, like the $249 Band 2, and always wear it to have these sorts of interactions with your car? Despite the emphasis on wearables, CES 2016 has also given us a glimmer of a vehicle future that cuts out the wearable middleman entirely. Take Audi's new Fit Driver project. The goal is to reduce driver stress levels, prevent driver fatigue, and provide a relaxing interior environment by adjusting cabin elements like seat massage, climate control, and even the interior lighting. While it focuses on a wearable device to monitor heart rate and skin temperature, the Audi itself will use on-board sensors to examine driving style and breathing rate as well as external conditions – the weather, traffic, that sort of thing. Could the seats measure skin temperature? Could the seatbelt measure heart rate? Seems like Audi might not need the wearable at all – the car's already doing most of the work. Whether there's a device on a driver's wrist or not, manufacturers seem to be developing a consensus that vehicles should be taking on some of a wearable's functionality.
