1988 Ford Thunderbird Base Sedan 2-door 3.8l on 2040-cars
Bossier City, Louisiana, United States
For Auction today is a 1988 Ford Thunderbird. This is the favorite Thunderbird body-style of many Thunderbird fans. This is a project car, it is in need of total restoration. I have already done the following for you and the body and interior need to be done by you, in the right hands the body and interior can easily be finished out and will be a great car in the future and will be rare and valuable. I hate to let it go but I have another one to restore, a 1997 Thunderbird plus my daily car, a Mustang, and I need to get light. New: Rebuilt engine from ATK Rebuilt Engines, rebuilt transmission, custom built with a shift kit/clutch for each gear, steering rack, belts, hoses, steering hoses, brakes, several suspension parts like control-arm bushings, alternator, PS pump, a/c compressor, radiator, evaporator and condensing coils, struts. It is a base model but it has a posi-trac rear end and rear stabilizer bar from a Thunderbird Sport. Please read these two very important points of interest: I am keeping this car within the Thunderbird community and want to pass it on to someone who loves it for the exact reasons that I do and someone who also believes the 1987-88 body style is among the very best of Thunderbirds. If you are looking for basic transportation, of a beater car or a college car or anything like that then please look elsewhere. Next, I want to inform you that there is something strange "wrong" with the car. These cars with this engine and transmission, certain year ranges of Thunderbirds and Mustangs are designed to get a certain MPG range with 27 MPG on the highway being pretty much the ceiling, which isn't bad. But for some reason this car gets 30-31 MPG on the HWY. Not sure why and not complaining. All of the above has about 30 thousand miles. Reserve is going to be set at one thousand dollars. Any questions call or text 214-554-1850 Car is for sale locally so I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. |

Michigan museum offers Model T driving classes
Sun, 29 Dec 2013Halfway between Detroit and Chicago, there is a car museum that gives visitors a unique level of interaction with antique cars. The Gilmore Car Museum in Hickory Corners, MI has a driver's training class to teach people of any age to learn how to drive a Ford Model T.
From the crank starter to the column-mounted throttle control, this driving school teaches people all there is to know about driving and operating a Model T. Each class lasts about two and a half hours and is only open to 18 students. There are ten sessions planned for 2014 - twice a day on May 3, June 22, July 22, August 23 and September 14. The class costs $95 (or $85 for members), and it also includes a tour of the museum's automobile collection.
In addition to this driving school, the museum has plenty of exhibits on the property, and it's open all but three days per year (Easter, Christmas and New Year's Day) with free admission for school field trips and active military. Be sure to check out the Gilmore Car Museum's website or visit them on Facebook for more info.
Ford's Mulally now said to be in lead for Microsoft CEO job
Sun, 29 Sep 2013There have been rumors that Ford CEO Alan Mulally could assume the top job over at Microsoft, whose CEO, Steve Ballmer, will retire within the year. Mulally hasn't come out and said that he's considering moving to Microsoft after (or before) his contract with Ford through 2014 ends, but sources in the know say he's the front-runner to become the tech giant's CEO and has opened up to the idea more in recent weeks, AllThingsD reports.
Mulally is no stranger to Washington, where Microsoft is located, having worked in the state for Seattle-based Boeing Commercial Airplanes as CEO years ago. He also recently was an adviser to Ballmer in an effort to realign the company's management structure to help it become more competitive in a fast-changing computer hardware and software market. And when Ford developed its Sync digital interface, it tapped Microsoft to provide the operating system, Microsoft Auto. Perhaps the least crucial connection - but nonetheless an important one - is that Mulally still owns a house in the Seattle area, and it's been said he wants to return there, according to AllThingsD.
A main challenge Microsoft's next CEO will face is how to manage the company's numerous, fractured operations and, eventually, streamline them. But even on this front, Mulally has experience; after all, it was he who ushered in an era of global Ford vehicles, after the automaker had become complacent developing and selling vehicles by region leading up to the economic recession of 2008-2009.
Ford celebrates 1 millionth Mustang built at Flat Rock
Thu, 18 Apr 2013Yesterday, the Ford Mustang turned 49 years old, and Ford didn't miss the opportunity to celebrate the one millionth version of the Mustang rolling off the assembly line at the Flat Rock Assembly plant. Production of the Mustang at Flat Rock coincided with the fifth-generation design launching in 2004, and the one millionth car was the car shown above, a 2014 GT convertible painted in Ruby Red.
In total, Ford has sold more than 8.5 million Mustangs since the original car went on sale, but some of the key milestones over the car's nine years at Flat Rock include the Shelby GT-H, Bullitt, Boss 302 and, of course, the 662-horsepower Shelby GT500. Scroll down for a press release celebrating Flat Rock's milestone Mustang.
