1983 810 Maxima Wagon Z-therapy Upgraded 280z Turbo L28et Ac Blows Cold Nissan on 2040-cars
Salem, Oregon, United States
1983 Datsun Maxima 810- Turbo Wagon Thanks for checking out this modified 1983 Datsun Maxima 810 Turbo Wagon. A lot of thought was put into this car when building it. My friend Bill who works at Z - Therapy, here in Salem, Oregon spent many hours building this car into what you see here. A lot of thought went into how to put this 280Z Turbo in it, to keep it looking like a car that Datsun would have liked to build. With Guidance from Steve, who is well known when it comes to vintage racing here in the Northwest, building Induction Systems and rebuilding and tweaking SU Carburetors. If you don't already know who they are, do a little research on them and you will be impressed. When I was younger, I worked at Ford and Nissan dealership, didn't know much about Nissan at the time, but quickly fell in love with them, when I was in high school, one of my favorite cars in the Nissan line was the Maxima, I remember driving them as a lot boy at the dealership. Today I love wagons in general, no matter what make and model, well maybe not the AMC Eagle, but in general I owe it the the Nissan Maxima Wagon, just love them. What sets this wagon out above the rest, is that it has been upgraded with a 1983 280Z Turbo - L28ET. This car went through a lot of modifications to put this Turbo Engine in it. Lots of thought and mods went into the Stock Maxima intake manifold, and using the Analog Injection from the Maxima, to fitted to 280Z Turbo engine. If Datsun would have built a Turbo Maxima in the USA this is what they would have came up with. This car was built by a gentleman that works at a well known Datsun shop here in the area, and it took a lot of thought to make this look like a factory built car. The engine was professional rebuilt, and now had has about 6,000 miles on it. If you want something a little different, and want something that is fast, then this is your car, love the whinning of the Turbo when you step on the throttle, surprises everone when I take it out for a little stroll around the block, or down the highway especially. This car you can drive anywhere, everything is dialed in and on top of that, the AC BLOWS COLD. The car itself has 251K on it, but like I said the Turbo L28ET engine has only 6K on it, front end was rebuilt, new brakes, struts, etc. Very dependable. If you have any other questions please give me a call, would be glad to talk to you about this 810. Thanks, Jason 503-910-2085 DRIVETRAIN: This car runs very good, it has been upgraded with a 1983 Datsun 280Z L28EU Turbo, wanted to keep the same year engine, with the same year car so it looked factory and period correct. A good friend of mine built this car, since Datsun never built a Turbo Wagon his thoughts were to build one of his own. The engine has been completely rebuilt, and lots of small modifications to make everything look and work correctly. Lots of thought went into this car to make it what it is today, helps that he works areound cars like this everyday. The engine starts right up, and just purrs like a kitten. It only has about 6,000 miles on the rebuild currently, so just barely broken in. The engine is painted Datsun Blue, and the Turbo Valve cover being red, is very fitting. I love to listen to the Turbo kick in, the little whinning sound great, and makes everyone take a second look, it is subtle, but sound cool. The transmission is stock, shifts very nice, no issues. The front end has been rebuilt, new bearings, bushings, ball joints. The brakes are disc upfront, and drum in the rear. The rearend is stock in the car as well, everything is very tight and feels good. The car has been lowered a little with new springs, has a very nice stance, and very good ride. This car isn't real fast off the line, when the turbo kicks in is where it really comes alive, it would make a really fun car to take out on a track day, it corners very good, and just drives awesome, all this at the same time, with the AC blowing cold to boot. Tires are in very nice shape, 205/50/16, with 16x7 Prime wheels. The exhaust if custom 2 1/2, with Magnaflow muffler as well. BODY/UNDERCARRIAGE: The body is in very nice shape, mostly original paint. The drivers fender and door have been repainted, the color is off a little bit. The car has lots of small scratches, and small dings, as few larger ones on the car. If someone wanted to take it to the next level and have it painted, that would be great. The best thing about the body, that it is very solid, and rust free, no bubbles in the doors, the rockers are very solid. I put the car up on the lift in my shop, to show how nice the floors are, and structure of the car. Very clean no rust. All the glass is in nice shape, no chips or scratches. The front windshield is nice, but has a little bit of wear on the passenger side were the wiper has rubbed a little etched swoop in glass. Overall the body is very clean for its age, but does show the flaws in the paint, you get a pretty good idea from the pictures. Some of the larger dings, might be able to be taken out a paint and dent guy, but never looked into seeing. INTERIOR: The interior is original, as you can see. Very plush interior, for a 1983 Japanese car. It feels very comfortable to drive in. It needs a lot of cleaning, the seats have marks in them, small stains, carpet has lots of stains, see pictures. the dash pad is good, but has a small crack staring above the cluster close to windshield. Everything works inside, even the activated ladies voice that reminds you. "You Left the Keys in the Ignition", or "You left your lights one", pretty cool for 1983. The radio is aftermarket, the antenna is not working, it is stuck up. The sunroof is in good working order, and does not leak. The power windows are all working in good as well, a few are a little slower going up, and but they do work. Interior is very useable, new carpet would do it wonders, and some cleaning, but over all for its age it is decent for a nice little driver. Its not about the interior in this car anyways, it is about how fun it is to drive. ***View the pictures read the auction, if you have more questions let me know, would be glad to help you out. Hot Wheels' 2022 Green Speed cars bring EVs to small scale
Sun, Apr 24 2022With more and more EVs hitting the market, it was only a matter of time before the new breed of cars would find representation in diecast form. For 2022, Hot Wheels is coming out with a new Green Speed series that puts the spotlight on a diverse lineup of electric cars. The five-car series features a fun mix of EVs from different manufacturers and in a wide range of styles. Some are completely bone stock. For a traditional luxury sedan, there's a Lucid Air in silver, complete with glass (or in this case, clear plastic) canopy. For fans of Teutonic 4-door "coupes" there's the Audi RS e-Tron GT in Daytona Gray. Ticking the truck box is a Hummer EV in a yellow that can only be described as a throwback to the H3. But because this is Hot Wheels, there are "hot-rodded" variants in the lineup as well. Rather than just a regular Nissan Leaf, they've elected to cast the carbon fiber-bodied NISMO RC 2.0 race car. Likewise with Ford, instead of the standard Mustang Mach-E, they've gone with the Mustang Mach-E 1400 drift car. This isn't the first time Hot Wheels has put out a Green Speed series. The line debuted in 2016 but reflected the limited EV choices in the real car market at the time. The only non-fantasy cars in the series were a first-gen Tesla Roadster, a Tesla Model S, and Chevy Volt. Hot Wheels revisited the line again in 2019, this time adding a Tesla Model 3 and a Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid Sport Turismo. Hot Wheels also makes other mini EVs that don't fall into this specific line of models. If you want to collect 'em all, there's the second-generation Tesla Roadster concept, Cybertruck, Jaguar I-Pace, Pininfarina Battista, Porsche Taycan, and a Volkswagen ID R. Similarly, Matchbox has released a version of the Tesla Roadster with sustainable packaging to boot. If you must have an old school gasoline burner, Hot Wheels has plenty of options for you too, like, say, this snazzy FJ60 Toyota Land Cruiser. The 2022 Hot Wheels Green Speed series should be on shelves at your local retailers now. Related Video:
Jaguar design boss admits X-Type was a mistake
Thu, 19 Sep 2013History has a way of repeating itself, especially in the auto industry. When Jaguar was owned by Ford, the British brand attempted to field a competitor for the BMW 3 Series, called the X-Type. Based on the bones of a Ford Mondeo, it aped the styling of Jaguar's flagship model, the XJ, while borrowing liberally from the Ford parts bin. That was 2001.
Now, in 2013, Jaguar is planning a new 3 Series challenger based on the platform previewed by the C-X17 Concept, while Ford is attempting to take the latest Mondeo upmarket. The moves have both brands recognizing where, why, and how the X-Type failed. "It didn't look mature or powerful or anything. It was just a car," Jaguar's current head of advanced design, Julian Thomson, told PistonHeads. Basing the X-Type on a front-drive car while giving it styling that was meant for a rear-driver lead to proportions that "were plainly wrong," Thomson told PH. Ford's European head of quality, Gunnar Herrmann, added that the X-Type was "a fake Jaguar, because every piece I touch is Ford."
For what it's worth, the X-Type's successor in the segment will sport rear-drive, with plenty of input from Ian Callum. Thomson described the new model, which would challenge the 3 Series as having, "Big wheels right to the ends of the car, low bonnet, short overhangs, very low cabins." Sounds good to us.
Build your dream garage with this insane prize from Omaze

No donation or payment necessary to enter or win this sweepstakes. See official rules on Omaze. Normally when we write about Omaze sweepstakes, they involve a car that you'd never go out and buy on your own. A six-figure camper van build, a $300,000 Ford Bronco restoration, a Land Rover Defender that's so beautiful it should be in a museum. Today's prize might beat out all of those, because not only could you win a dream car, you'll be entered for a chance to win $100k cash to go along with it. There are a lot of cars you can buy with $100k. You could buy a Land Cruiser Heritage Edition or a Mustang GT500 or 6 Chevy Sparks and start your own racing series. Personally, if I won that kind of dough, assuming I also won this Bentley Bentayga, my favorite of Omaze's current offerings, I'd probably use some of it to buy something quirky, like a Honda Element converted into a pop-top camper, or a restored/upgraded 60 series Land Cruiser. Think that's a terrible way to spend the cash? That's the beauty of it. It is completely up to you. No one can tell you what to do with it.
