For Sale: My 1979 Ford Thunderbird Heritage Classic. This car has the rare T-TOPS and the rare real leather seats as well. It has just over 100000 miles and looks it. Real nice paint and a nice shine. It has the 351 Windsor under the hood and I put a new 4 barrell intake and exhaust on the car along with a new 600 Holley carb. I have the original carb and intake as well. I have also put new dual exhaust with stainless steel tips, new air shocks, new Cooper Cobra tires and new Crager Eliminator rims on her. I also have the original rims that look like new yet. This car could easily look original again if thats what you want. It is a fun nice cruising car that turns heads. GM also sheds parts from its pickups to boost payload ratings
Thu, 31 Jul 2014The row between Ford and Ram over who boasts the best-in-class tow rating for heavy duty pickups has revealed a number of things. Chief among them is a report that Ford removes items like the spare tire, jack, radio and center console from its vehicles in a bid to lower its base curb weight and therefore keep the truck's gross vehicle weight rating down.
For those that need a refresher, GVWR is the vehicle's curb weight plus its maximum payload. A lower GVWR allows Ford to station its F-450 among the so-called Class III pickups, despite the fact that internally, it has the makings of a more brutish Class IV truck.
Ford explains away these deletions, saying a customer could order their vehicle in such a manner. It has also come to light that Ford is not the only automaker to engage in such practices.
Ford's official Euro aftermarket partner Mountune coming to US
Tue, 06 Aug 2013Now that we're getting a steady stream of Ford's European offerings, the aftermarket world is finally starting to catch up as well. UK-based aftermarket tuning company, Mountune has just announced that it will be setting up shop in California to provide high-performance and racing parts for Ford vehicles including the Focus ST and Fiesta ST.
Mountune lays claim to being Ford's "official European tuning partner," and US buyers will soon have access to these parts through Ford dealerships and with a Ford Racing warranty. Speaking of Ford Racing, Mountune also says that it will be working with Ford's in-house team to develop future components for both street and track. There are no specifics as of yet for which products will be offered here, but the company plans to launch a US-specific website later this month with more information.
