I am selling my 1971 Ford Thunderbird. The interior is very nice and decent. New carburetor, new gaskets, new power steering pump, new power steering box and new power steering line have been installed. I will include copies of the the service receipts. Tires are new with race car wheels but I also have the original wheels for the T-Bird. The car will need a steering column which I never installed because it is a little noisy when making a full left u-turn only but it is not something that happens too often. Vehicle starts up and drives wonderfully and has some minor cosmetic defects as shown in the images. There is a rust spot on the right passenger side and a couple of minor tears in the front seat but relatively small. The back seat is in great condition and the overall body is in great condition. The door panels on both the left and right passenger side are incomplete but that's all that's left. Power windows do work. Everything is kept original including the original radio. The original T-Bird floor mats are still on the floor.

I will include the original Ford operation manuals and the original owners manual. I will also include the original T-Bird hub caps and the car cover specifically made for the T-Bird. The dash has no cracks and I will include the dash cover which protects the dash from UV exposure to prevent cracks.

Car is for sale locally and will be removed if sold. If the reserve price has been met then I will not remove the listing from Ebay. The local asking price is $4000.00 however the reserve price is much less than that.

In fairness to all bidders I will not disclose the reserve. I have added a buy it now since I know I will get requests but the reserve is lower than that. Car is for sale as is where is. I have done my best to describe it but please understand that it is 42 years old and not perfect. Car is available for inspection by appointment. Bidders with less than 10 feedback's must contact me before bidding or I will cancel your bid. $500 deposit due within 48 hours of auction end, full payment within 7 days of auction end. Payment by cash, wire transfer or cashier’s check. All cashier’s checks must clear before car or title will be released. Car must be picked up within 21 days of auction end unless prior arrangements are made. International bidders are welcome but shipping from car’s current location is responsibility of buyer.

Ford Explorer gets appearance pack for 2015

Sat, 14 Jun 2014

Remember when Ford launched the totally new Explorer in late 2010, and people were skeptical about how the now-crossover would fare, after ditching its traditional SUV roots? Well, we're several years in, and I think we can assuredly say that Ford made the right decision. Sales are better than ever (in fact, May was the current Explorer's best month yet), and the crossover is finding its way into the hands of a whole host of new Ford buyers.
A wholly refreshed Explorer is still forthcoming, but to keep its strong-selling crossover fresh, Ford is offering a host of improvements for the 2015 model year, including the attractive appearance package available on the XLT trim level, pictured above. Outside, the pack gets you goodies like 20-inch machined aluminum wheels, black bodyside cladding and roof rack rails. Contrasting Magnetic Metallic accents are found on the grille, mirror caps and liftgate appliqué, and there's an "Explorer" hood badge and body-colored door handles. Inside, there are new Miko suede inserts in the seats, and the package includes the automaker's Sync connectivity with MyFord Touch infotainment.
Elsewhere in the Explorer range, the Class III trailer tow pack is now standard on the Sport, base models get new 18-inch aluminum wheels, and there are three new colors on offer: Bronze Fire Metallic and Magnetic Metallic.

Former Cadillac boss Butler takes Ford tech job

Tue, 07 Jan 2014

When Don Butler made the surprising decision to leave his post as Cadillac's VP of global strategic development, it was a surprise. Citing a desire to "recalibrate, reassess my priorities" in that August announcement, it wasn't entirely clear where Butler - a virtual General Motors lifer after spending nearly 30 years with the company - would end up. Turns out he took a trip to Dearborn.
Butler has taken a position in the newly created position of Executive Director of Connected Vehicles and Services at Ford, where he'll be responsible for the Blue Oval's global connectivity strategy. "Not only does Don understand the connected car landscape, but probably just as important, he understands customer expectations," said Raj Nair, who, as Group Vice President of Global Product Development, is Butler's new boss. "Having a leader with technology experience both inside and outside the industry is a rare combination - we're excited to have Don join our team."
As Ford has received its fair share of flak for the sometimes recalcitrant MyFord Touch infotainment system and its Sync voice-controls, it appears that Butler has his work cut out for him.

1979 Dodge Li'l Red Express in Generation Gap showdown with 1933 Ford Pickup

Fri, 18 Jul 2014

Auto enthusiasts love a good debate, whether it's Mustang versus Camaro or Ferrari against Lamborghini. But how about a battle between two very different vintages of classic pickup trucks? In this case, the fight is between a 1979 Dodge Li'l Red Express and a 1933 Ford Model 46 truck with a flathead V8.
The shootout comes courtesy of the internet series Generation Gap, and its concept is super-simple. One guy prefers classics, and the other likes newer rides. They choose a category, pick two vehicles and put them head to head. In this case, neither is exactly modern, though. The Ford is more than old enough to receive Social Security checks, and the Dodge is hardly a young whippersnapper.
Other than both being pickups, these two models were made to serve very different functions. The Li'l Red Express was basically the progenitor of today's muscle trucks, with a big V8 that made it one of the quickest new models in its day (admittedly, 1979 was a rough time for automotive performance). On the other hand, the '33 Ford was just meant to work, with little pretense for anything else. One of the hosts describes it as "the simplest, most difficult" vehicle he's driven because of the tricky double clutchwork necessary to shift gears. Scroll down to watch the video and try to decide which of these two American classics you would rather have in your garage.
