THIS IS MY PRIDE AND JOY I ORIGINALLY BOUGHT THIS CAR 3 YEARS AGO FOR 2,000.00 FROM A FRIEND AND HAVE RESTORED AND UPGRADED ALL ENGINE AND ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS IN THIS VEHICLE. I HAVE INVESTED OVER 27,000.00 IN THIS CAR AND ITS RUNNING LIKE NEW. I STRIPPED THIS VEHICLE TO ITS SHELL AND MADE THIS BABY RUST PROOF. ALL FLOOR PANS WERE TAKEN OUT AND NEW SHEETS PUT IN. THIS CAR HASNT HAD ANY MAJOR COSMETIC DAMAGE WHATSOEVER IN THE PAST BESIDES A LITTLE RUST HERE AND THEIR. BUT I TOOK CARE OF THAT AND SANDBLASTED THE WHOLE VEHICLE ON ITS SHELL. THE INTERIOR IS IN ALMOST MINT CONDITION WHICH WAS ONE OF THE REASONS I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE. ITS THE ORIGINAL BLACK VINYL FROM THE FACTORY. MUST SEE TO APPRECIATE. THE ENGINE AND TRANNY ARE ORIGINAL .ITS A 390 FE MOTOR. I HAD THE ENGINE REBUILT AND ADDED SOME POWER TO THIS BABY. NEW CHAIN TIMING BELT FROM COMP CAMS, NEW CAM SHAFT, NEW LIFTERS, MSD ENGINE STARTER KIT, NEW ROCKERS AND LIFTERS, NEW 850 CFM HOLLY CARBURETOR, AND EDELBROCK INTAKE MANIFOLD , NEW FLOWMASTER EXHAUST SYSTEM, NEW RED OPTIMA BATTERY AND BATTERY BACK UP,AND TONS MORE... Automakers tussle over owners of 'orphan' makes
Thu, 10 May 2012When General Motors put down several of its brands in recent years, it also let loose thousands of brand-loyal customers who will eventually need another car.
R.L. Polk Associates estimates there are more than 18 million cars from 16 discontinued makes on the road today. Those "orphan owners" have sales-hungry competitors seeing dollar signs. GM is offering Saturn owners $1,000 cash toward a Chevy Cruze, Cadillac CTS or a GMC Acadia. Ford is giving its Mercury lease customers a chance to get out of their contracts with no early-termination penalty and offering to waive six remaining payments if they drive off in a Ford or Lincoln.
Edmunds.com research shows the efforts are paying off somewhat for GM, with 39 percent of Pontiac owners, 37 percent of Hummer owners and 31 percent of Saturn owners taking delivery of another GM-branded vehicle. But that leaves as much as 69 percent of owners going elsewhere. Ford, Honda and Toyota seem to be attracting many former GM owners.
Ford board OK with Mulally stepping down earlier
Fri, 06 Sep 2013Ford's board is open to CEO Alan Mulally stepping down before his planned departure in 2014, inside sources are telling Reuters. Ford's plan of succession, aside from who would be his actual successor, has been something approaching common knowledge - the 68-year-old former Boeing exec had plans to stay through 2014. This was recently confirmed by Mulally himself on Bloomberg Television and in Automotive News.
Motivation for the about-face comes from what Reuters calls a "growing confidence" in the current crop of Ford execs, led by Mark Fields. Fields, Ford's current chief operating officer, has been tipped as Mulally's ultimate successor, although he's far from the only person with eyes on Ford's top job. Normally, Ford's board saying they're open to an executive, that's done very well for the company, stepping down early would be nearly unremarkable. It's the timing of this announcement, though, that makes this a big piece of news.
Recently, Mulally has been the subject of rumors that he's interested in taking the CEO position at tech giant Microsoft. The Redmond, Washington-based company's CEO, Steve Ballmer, told the media in August that he'd be retiring in a year's time. The fires were stoked when tech website AllThingsD speculated that Mulally would take the top spot, despite denials from the man himself. Could Ford's current boss become the new top dog at Microsoft? Will Mark Fields replace him? Could recently departed Renault exec Carlos Tavares land at Ford in some capacity? Let us know what you think below in Comments.
Ford Fiesta ST in startling track battle against Toyota GT86
Wed, 26 Jun 2013On the surface, there's very little that the Ford Fiesta ST and Toyota GT86 (or the Scion FR-S that is sold in the US, or the largely similar Subaru BRZ) share in common. One is a hatchback with power coming from a turbocharged engine routed to the front wheels. The other is a coupe with power coming from a naturally aspirated four-cylinder boxer engine routed to the rear wheels.
Thing is, both of them are reasonably priced performance cars aimed at a similar segment of the automotive marketplace, so a comparison isn't out of the question. It is with all of this in mind that we direct you to the video below, in which the blokes from Evo pit the two manic little machines against one another on a race track. The result? Well, it can be summed up this way: Fast versus fun.
See how the track battle goes down in the video below.
