1967 Ford Thunderbird. VIN no.7y81z118959. VIN decodes as follows: 7-1967, Y-made in Wixom Michigan, 81-Thunderbird 2 door hardtop, Z-390 ci 4V 315 hp, 118959-no.18959 out of a total of 77956 made in 1967, (only 15,567 65A body styles made in 1967). Trim tag decodes as follows: Body-65a (tudor hardtop painted roof), Color-H, (Diamond Green), Trim-2g, (interior vinyl seats, light Ivory Gold), Date-21K, (October 21st), DSO-55, (District Sales Office St. Louis), Axle-WI, (3.00 locking axle), Trans-u, (C6 automatic). This car is equiped with factory Air, vacuum operated hide-away headlights, swing-away steering wheel. Speedometer reads 54,151 miles, not sure if it's been turned over or not. I would say the condition of this car is "survivor".  It's very original, has had minor paint work done in areas but apears to be mostly original, paint is faded. Body is in very good condition, Rt. rear qtr has a small area of rust, but this is about as clean of an orginal body as you're going to find. Needs a windshield, all other glass is good. Engine, starts and runs good, probably needs a little carb work, had some sticking float issues, but after sitting for nearly a year it started right up, (with jump). Brakes are currently not working, probably a bad line. Interior is original and in nice condition. This car could very well be cleaned and left as is, a days worth of work and a small amount of cash could make this a daily driver, would be an excellant canidate for a full restoration. This car has not been monkeyed with, it is original! Car is located at a bodyshop/mechanic shop which would be more than happy to fix the minor issues needed to get it down the road, or do a full restoration if desired. If you have any questions please feel free to message me!

Ford builds USAF Thunderbirds Edition Mustang for charity

Tue, 02 Jul 2013

Each year since 2008, Ford has created a one-off Mustang to celebrate military aviation, and the cars have been auctioned off at the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Gathering of Eagles charity event to raise money to inspire the next generation of aviators. This year's charity car is the 2014 Ford Mustang GT US Air Force Thunderbirds Edition, which also helps celebrate 60 years of Thunderbirds air show excellence.
Of all the EAA charity cars, this Thunderbirds Edition is the most in depth. Painted to match the F-16 Tomcat fighter jets used by Thunderbirds, this Mustang also gets a widebody kit and 22-inch Forgiato wheels to go with the cockpit's Recaro bucket seats, rear-seat delete and modified navigation screen and gauge cluster. Even the Mustang's projector puddle lights have been changed to show an aircraft silhouette - rather than the Mustang's galloping horse logo - when the doors are open.
Themes for previous EAA charity cars include the Blue Angels, SR-71 Blackbird and the Red Tails as well as the F-22 Raptor-inspired AV8R and AV-X10 "Dearborn Doll" models. Scroll down for the press release for the 2014 Ford Mustang GT US Air Force Thunderbirds Edition, and be sure to check out our galleries for all six aviation-themed Mustangs.

2016 Ford Mustang SVT hides big power under its domed hood

Tue, 17 Jun 2014

With a number of 2015 Ford Mustang versions finally available to configure, the fun of speculating about next year's high-performance 'Stang can now begin. It looks like Ford has something seriously fun planned too. One of our spy photographers just snapped some fresh pics of the 2016 Mustang SVT, which is believed to be hiding the final body shape under all of that heavy camouflage.
Ford clearly doesn't want prying eyes looking at its new pride and joy. It would be hard to put much more obfuscation on a car than this one wears - it even has mesh baffles around the exhausts to conceal how many there are and panels over the wheels to hide their design. However, the Blue Oval can't keep everything a secret. The biggest clue that something special is hidden underneath is the massive hood bulge and vent in front of it. Clearly, whatever is under there is hungry for cool air. The shape of the camo indicates that there may be fender vents on each side, and there are also obscured outlets behind the front wheels likely to pull cool air through the brakes. At the rear, the concealment does its job, making it hard to observe any big changes. The fact that Ford wants it kept such a secret might indicate something, though.
A few photos of the interior show far less cover than the outside. You can easily make out the model's 6,500 rpm redline with a possible 7,000 rpm over-rev function. The big Recaro sport seats also look quite supportive.

Ford demonstrates Mustang's new Line Lock burnout feature

Tue, 22 Apr 2014

Been saving your pennies for a 2015 Ford Mustang? Put in a few extra shifts or some overtime? Got a great down payment ready? Well, however much you saved for your new pony car, start saving more - you'll need the extra money to spend on tires.
That's because the Mustang will come with a system called Line Lock, which can lock the front brakes electronically, allowing drivers to perform big, dumb, smoky burnouts without moving so much as an inch. It's sort of like launch control, only the average driver might actually use it.
Now, line locks aren't uncommon, particularly in drag racing. Usually, a flip of the switch locks the front brakes. The Mustang, besides offering the system from the factory which is unique in and of itself, looks a bit more involved.
