1966 Ford Thunderbird Convertible

For sale is a near perfect Ford Thunderbird with the 390 V8. This car was professionally restored a few years back and still shows like a fresh restoration. The paint is a beautiful brown/gold. This is the factory color on the car based on the colors underneath. The interior is a spectacular pearl white leather and shows as new. This car is a great car to drive with power steering and brakes.

The exterior of this car is a 9 out of 10. There are some very minor stone chips under front and rear bumper edges. The body gaps are perfectly matched all the way around and the doors have no sag at all. There is NO RUST! The convertible top is very nice and a 8 out of 10. There is a tiny pinky nail sized tear on the driver's side. The motorized top operation works as it should with no issues.

The interior shows like a new car. There are no tears or cracks anywhere and the metal work is fantastic. The carpets match the exterior paint color, which is a very nice touch. This car has pillow button leather seats, which look great.

Electronically, almost everything works as it should. It has a aftermarket digital radio that is designed to look and fit as a factory radio would. The neutral safety switch in the steering column is touchy at times and I would have it replaced eventually. The windshield washer motor comes on but no fluid comes out. All the exterior lighting is working properly. The rear seat window switch has a short and the windows go up and down sometimes.

Mechanically, this car is fantastic. It starts easily every time you turn the key. The car was sitting for about a year in an air conditioned facility and started right up. The carb does stick occasionally and will work itself out through driving the car. I would not hesitate to drive a very long distance with this car. The braking is excellent and has no fade, squeaking or vibrations. The tires are at 85% condition and look great with whitewalls.

The new owner will receive a stack of receipts, books and workshop manuals with this car. It also has 3 sets of keys that come with it as well as a very high end indoor car cover.

Please e-mail with any questions and I will answer accurately and quickly. Please only bid if you have the full intention of completing the purchase.

Ford S-Max Concept previews new look, technology for Euro seven-seater

Wed, 28 Aug 2013

Ford unveiled today the S-Max Concept, which comes with a new, sleek look and loaded with innovative technology, such as a heart-rate monitoring seat. But if you're heart is set on a minivan sports activity vehicle (SAV) and you live in the States, don't wait for this one - it's a Europe-only product, and we don't expect that to change when the next-gen S-Max is released.
The styling follows Ford's global design language, looking a bit like an overgrown Focus hatchback with the company's signature grille, wraparound headlamps, steeply raked windshield and curved roof line. Ford also implemented details to make the S-Max look longer and faster, such as a feature line on each side of the vehicle and muscular-looking fenders. The engine isn't Ford's most powerful, but the new 1.5-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine should be potent enough with turbocharging and other efficiency related technologies.
Ford says the new interior, which seats up to seven people, features high-quality materials and fine detailing, such as an "ultra-soft" leather wrap for the instrument panel and leather and carbon-fiber details on the seats. Ford's Sync connectivity system with MyFord Touch makes the car a wireless hotspot, and there's a tablet docking station for second-row occupants.

2016 Ford Explorer configurator reveals $30,700* base price, Platinum starts at $52,600*

Wed, Nov 26 2014

The a la carte menu for the 2016 Ford Explorer is ready for your... umm... exploring. The first page of the refreshed model's configurator reveals the lineup, including the new Platinum trim, and price increases for three of the carryover models. The base Explorer doesn't change by one red cent: it can still be had for $30,700. The XLT needs $33,400 (a $400 price bump), the Limited goes for $41,300 (a not insignificant $2,900 price increase), and the Sport requires $43,300 (a $200 increase). That new Platinum model goes where no Explorer MSRP has gone before, beginning at $52,600 (*all prices are subject to an $895 destination charge). However, since Ford has put almost everything in it, you can't jack the price up too much further unless you lose your mind in the accessories catalog. You can quickly head that way lower down the order, though. The Limited's price jump appears to be due to the voice-activated navigation system, which comes standard; it was formerly part of a $2,600 option package. The Limited goes up by just $995 when specced with the new 2.3-liter EcoBoost, which raises the power over the 2.0-liter EcoBoost it replaces to 270 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque, but doesn't incur any fuel economy penalty. All-wheel drive tacks on another $2,000, safety features like active park assist and lane departure warning come as part of $3,000 Equipment Group A, and you'll still have another three pages of options to get through. On the other hand, if you just want to get your family bundle into an Explorer without spending a bundle, the base model doesn't offer any packages and only has one option over $200. Let the research begin.

Detroit 3 to implement delayed unified towing standards for 2015

Mon, 10 Feb 2014

Car buyers have a responsibility to be well-informed consumers. That's not always a very simple task, but some guidelines are self-evident. If you live in a very snowy climate, you generally know a Ford Mustang or Chevrolet Camaro might not be as viable a vehicle choice as an all-wheel drive Explorer or Traverse, for example. If you want a fuel-efficient car, it's generally a good idea to know the difference between a diesel and a hybrid. But what if it's kind of tough to be an informed consumer? What if the information you need is more difficult to come by, or worse, based on different standards for each vehicle? Well, in that case, you might be a truck shopper.
For years, customers of light-duty pickups have had to suffer through different ratings of towing capacities for each brand. For 2015 model year trucks, though, that will no longer be a problem. According to Automotive News, General Motors, Ford and Chrysler Group have announced that starting with next year's models, a common standard will be used to measure towing capacity. The Detroit Three will join Toyota, which adopted the Society of Automotive Engineers' so-called SAE J2807 standards way back in 2011.
The standard was originally supposed to be in place for MY2013, but concerns that it would lower the overall stated capacity for trucks led Detroit automakers to pass. Ford originally passed, claiming it'd wait until its new F-150 was launched to adopt the new standards, leading GM and Ram to follow suit. Nissan, meanwhile, has said it will adopt the new standards as its vehicles are updated, meaning the company's next-generation Titan should adhere to the same tow ratings as its competitors.
