THIS IS AN EXCELLENT EXAMPLE OF A 1965 THUINDERBIRD CONVERTIBLE. I AM LISTING THIS FOR A FRIEND WHO HAS LOST INTEREST IN ALL THREE OF THE 65 THUNDERBIRD CONVERTIBLES HE OWNS (IF YOU WANT INFORMATION ON THE OTHERS, PLEASE LET ME KNOW AND WOULD CONSIDER A PACKAGE DEAL). THIS THUNDERBIRD  IS EQUIPPED WITH A "390" V-8, AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION AND APPEARS TO BE THE ORIGINAL ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION. THE ENGINE DOES RUN  BUT DOES NEED SOME REPAIR TO THE FUEL SYSTEM DUE TO BEING IN STORAGE A LONG TIME AND STALE GAS. THE INTERIOR IS IN EXCELLENT USED CONDITION AS IS THE TOP CANVAS BUT DOES HAVE A "YELLOWED" BACK WINDOW.  IT IS ALSO EQUIPPED WITH POWER WINDOWS,POWER STEERING, AND A SWING-AWAY STEERING COLUMN. IT HAS BEEN REPAINTED AND HAS AN EXCELLENT STRAIGHT BODY WITH NO EVIDENCE OF RUST SHOWING EXTERNALLY OR UNDERNEATH. Chip Ganassi Racing switches to the Ford EcoBoost-powered Riley Daytona Prototype

Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates (CGRFS) announced yesterday at Ford's SEMA press conference that it will field a Ford-Riley Daytona Prototype with the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 in the 2014 United SportsCar Championship (USCC). CGRFS is the second team to commit to the new Ford-Riley car, behind Michael Shank Racing (which has already used the racecar to break a 26-year-old top-speed record at Daytona International Speedway).
"Over the last 10 seasons we have been able to experience a great deal of success in Grand-Am," Chip Ganassi says, "and now with the dawn of the new United SportsCar Championship we feel that Ford power will be a key ingredient to writing the next chapter of our sports car program."
In the last Grand-Am season, CGRFS raced a BMW-Riley Daytona Prototype. The team has won seven Daytona Prototype championships, all in the past ten years. Scott Pruett and Memo Rojas return as the team's prototype co-drivers, and will attend their maiden race in the Ford-Riley at the Rolex 24 at Daytona in January.

Court puts kibosh on apartheid lawsuit against Ford, Daimler

Ford and Daimler have scored a major victory in a long-running lawsuit filed in US federal court by unnamed South African nationals. The suit alleges that both manufacturers and their subsidiaries sold their vehicles to the South African military, despite knowing that they'd be involved in violently putting down anti-apartheid protesters.
According to Reuters, South African plaintiffs filed the case under the 223-year-old Alien Torts Statute, a law which allows foreign nationals to file charges in US courts for perceived breaches of what was originally international law, but now more closely relates to violations of human rights.
And while the case - which also involves computer manufacturer IBM - has been tied up in federal courts for years, a recent case from the Supreme Court struck down a similar suit against Royal Dutch Petroleum (Shell), arguing that the ATS doesn't apply to corporations or to conduct if it occurred outside the US. In short, the law applies to individuals, but not corporations like Ford or Daimler. A US appeals court ruled that the conditions apply in this case, potentially drawing this long-running saga to a close, as the defendants will now be allowed to request that the case be dismissed in district court.

Ford Mustang EcoBoost has fake engine soundtrack

The 2015 Ford Mustang EcoBoost represents a huge change for the Blue Oval as the first pony car in decades to be available with a four-cylinder engine. But a recent tweet (below) from Road & Track raised our curiosity about the new vehicle. Editor Jason Cammisa pulled a fuse while driving the latest 'Stang with the 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine, and he found that both the stereo and engine went quiet in the cabin. That indicated the coupe might have some form of artificial engine sound being piped in - a feature not previously heavily reported for the model. Autoblog spoke with Ford engineer Shawn Carney who confirmed that only the turbocharged four-cylinder Mustang comes with this system, called Active Noise Control.
