Great project Thunderbird.  Clean title and current registration with original Black/yellow license plates.  Body 63A,  Color F,  Trim 52,  Date 20B,  DSO 71,  Axle 1,  Trans 4 .   Factory  power windows, power driver seat, power door locks,  I started on this project and thought I'd end up with a very nice fun driver. Then I found a 1964 Thunderbird convertible red on red with white top. I am selling  my hardtop so I can devote my time to the convertible. When I bought the hardtop the brakes didn't work at all and fluid leaked at hoses and cylinders. The cooling system would not hold water and the belts looked older then the car. I started replacing and repairing what it would take to move the car and run the engine/drive train. What follows is a list of things replaced and or rebuilt.     New rear brake shoes, new rear brake cylinders, new rear brake hardware (self adjusters and springs), new rear brake hose, and machined drums. In the front a new 1970 Ford dual master cylinder and proportioning valve was installed. The front drum spindles have been replaced with disc brake spindles and calipers/rotors from a 1965 Thunderbird with new grease seals and overhaul of both calipers, machining rotors and new pads. The wheels have been change to 1965 Thunderbird wheels to fit over the disc brakes. The front end has new ball joints, A arm bushings/shafts, strut bushings, sway bar links/and mounts, new shocks.  The radiator has been recored  with made in California new core and rebuilt surge tank. New radiator hoses and new belts. The engine has new timing chain and gears, new water pump , new fuel pump, rebuilt newer style alternator with updated harness.  The car had add on air conditioning installed at some time in its life and air is a good thing but I prefer the factory look and fit. All the A/C brackets and alternator brackets have been  changed to original factory brackets from a 1964 Thunderbird with factory air along with original style compressor. I have all the parts to change over the interior to be factory correct look and fit but have not installed the interior parts as of yet and it all comes with the car. Granted the car will need more work to make it that fun very nice driver but it has a good start.  Auction winner is responsible for pick up of vehicle (not driveable). The car is sold with no warranty as is. I will assist with towing or shipping.

George W. Bush's 2009 Ford F-150 fizzles with $300,000 bid at Barrett-Jackson [UPDATE: w/video]

Sun, 20 Jan 2013

Despite some truly impassioned pleading from Jay Leno himself - including calling on Arizona's notoriously Republican-rich voters to beat the $600,000 level set the last time Leno sold a vehicle for this particular charity... in California - bidding for George Bush's 2009 Ford F-150 pickup truck stalled at $300,000.
All proceeds will be sent to the Fisher House Foundation, so at least it's $300K going to a good cause. Feel free to check out the live image gallery above, which includes shots showing Leno's skills helming the auction, and read through the official auction description below.
*UPDATE: Video of the auction and Leno's prods to the crowd for more money can now be seen below.

Ford Fusion demand outstripping supply

Sat, 15 Jun 2013

The attractive new 2013 Ford Fusion has done wonders for the brand in the highly competitive midsize sedan segment - the vehicle is up nearly 22 percent compared to last year. But that sales momentum may soon hold steady due to low inventory levels of the new Fusion across the United States.
According to a report in The Detroit News, citing automotive data and Ward's Auto, Ford currently has a 39-day supply of the Fusion. That might sound fine, but a normally healthy average is about a 60-day supply. If Ford were to stop production on the Fusion today, there would only be enough vehicles available to get through another five weeks of sales, according to the News.
Currently, Ford produces the Fusion at its three-shift assembly plant in Hermosillo, Mexico, and will add production at its facility in Flat Rock, MI later this year. A Ford spokesperson told The Detroit News that when Flat Rock production comes online, the automaker will need to rush new stock out to the regions with the most demand for the Fusion. Ford has doubled its coastal retail market share, with huge amounts of growth in areas like Los Angeles, San Francisco and Miami, the News reports.

Mulally will stay close to Ford after he steps down, plans to advise Fields [w/video]

Fri, 27 Jun 2014

Ford CEO Alan Mulally has less than a week left in his role of leading the Blue Oval before he hands off duties to Mark Fields on July 1. It doesn't look like Mulally is going to be shuffling off into his retirement anytime soon, though. The 68-year-old is being rather secretive about his next move, but he tells Bloomberg in a recent interview that he plans to stay close to Ford. Also, if Fields wants to ask for any advice, Mulally is happy to help.
Mulally took over at Ford in 2006 and led the company through a seriously rough patch in the auto industry. According to Bloomberg, he became famous or his Thursday meetings where executives were forced to deal with any problems before they could leave. Since announcing his retirement from Ford in May, Mulally has been insuring a smooth transition of power by traveling the world to all of company's major locations and saying goodbye to employees and dealers.
In terms of the future at Ford, Mulally doesn't predict any big changes in management style because the rest of the executive team is staying in place. He believes that Fields is going to maintain the processes already in place to keep things going. After all, it seems to be working. The company is predicting a return to profitability in Europe next year and is opening 88 new dealers in China. If the business could get its recalls under control, things could get even better.
