Up for auction is a fully equipped/optioned 1963 Ford Thunderbird with full power, brakes, power steering, cruise-a-matic automatic transmission, Acutrack posi differential gearing, power windows, AC, dual exhaust, factory tinted windows, original wheel covers, fender skirts, 390 cu inch engine, 4bbl carburetor, bucket seats & console, and other non listed items. The car has been stored on my RV pad under cover. The pictures, what you see is what you get including 20 years of dust. Although the original owner said it had only 52,130 original miles on it when I purchased the vehicle it now shows 53,707 and when I titled the vehicle in Nevada on May19 1995 I titled it at 153,687 as the DMV would not accept 53,687. If you do the math, I drove the vehicle 20 miles in 20 years. I purchased the car in 1994 from the original owner who garaged it in Tacoma Washington. Shortly thereafter, my brother and myself drove the car to its new home in Las Vegas Nevada as I felt dry air would peserve the vehicle with my intention of someday restoring the car to like new condition. The vehicle was prepared for storage emptying the carburetor, fuel tank, radiator and engine block of antifreeze. I was 43 then and time has passed quickly and I cannot see selling it for parts. Looking on Ebay, the parts are worth more than the car but this vehicle could be a running and driving classic for someone and people love to see them on the road. What I can say about our trip south on I-5 20 years ago was the car ran and drove perfect. What we did find was the engine didn't burn oil rather both the engine and power steering leaked about 1/2 quart each as the seals had dried up over the years sitting in the owners garage. The gentleman from who I purchased the car was older than I'am today did maintain the car and would go out into the garage, start the vehicle, let it run for a few minutes, then turn it off. The moisture from running collected in the exhaust system and damaged it so prior to our trip in 1994 I had 4 new tires put on and a complete new exhaust system installed by Midas which is still under warrenty today. I purchased the car as its never been in an accident or hit. All the bumpers are straight, front and rear, body gaps, fender skirts, doors, hood, trunk gaps all match perfect and are spaced the same either open or closed. Door hinges are tight(not loose) as many cars with wear. All the stainless is perfect and could use a polishing. The bumpers although straight, for a perfect restoration, would need to be re-cromed as the crome is beginning to pit or blacken in places mostly above the exhaust ports. The wheel covers are original and have not been removed since 1993 when I had the tires replaced new. The vehicle is as it was when it rolled down the assembly line in 1963 as nothing has been removed nor parts replaced. I believe the paint was re-done prior to me having it but I cannot verify it as they did quality work. The interior needs to be re-done to include the headliner as all has either cracked or dried due to our dry climate. You get the 20+ years of dust accumlation as you can see and that is free. Being honest, you will not be disappointed in buying this vehicle. I offer a complete money back guarantee. Why Edmunds took a sledgehammer to its 2015 Ford F-150
Tue, Jan 27 2015The discussion around repair bills for the aluminum-bodied 2015 Ford F-150 pickup continued from the beginning of last year to the end, and haven't abated; as an aside, some Tesla Model S owners have been shocked at disquieting repair estimates for minor damage to their aluminum wunder-sedans. Edmunds decided to inject some fact into the fray: it bought a $52,000 long-term 2015 F-150 and clouted it with an eight-pound sledgehammer. Twice. The rear of the bedside took the impacts since it couldn't be replaced, it would have to be repaired. To the pickup's credit, the only reason associate editor Travis Langness hit it twice was that the first sledgehammer blow didn't do as much damage as Edmunds wanted. After the second, the visible damage included the two direct impacts, a few creases, and a cracked taillight, so they drove the pickup to Santa Monica Ford to get an estimate, complete with a fictitious story about how the damage occurred and the mercy plea that Langness was paying for the repair out-of-pocket. In Part 2 Langness hits on some of the details with getting the truck fixed, such as the massively expensive taillight and the list of tools Ford recommends dealers have to work on aluminum. But he was promised he'd have his truck back in seven days, and Santa Monica Ford got it back to him in seven days. In Part 3 we get the bill. It's not small, but it's quite a bit less than it could have been if the service manager had charged Edmunds the official labor rate for aluminum. 2015 Ford Mustang option prices gallop onto the web
Tue, 22 Apr 2014The 2015 Ford Mustang is one of the most anticipated cars of the year, despite the fact that production hasn't yet begun. What's a pony car fan to do? It turns out that Ford already has pricing and options information about the vehicle in its dealer ordering system. A few enterprising folks have snapped some pictures from it and have posted them online. You might not be able to drive your car yet, but you can at least see what it might cost.
At the moment, Ford appears to be splitting the Mustang into five models - 3.7-liter V6, 2.3-liter EcoBoost, GT with the 5.0-liter V8, 50th Anniversary and SVT. There are 10 available paint colors, 2 of which require an extra outlay. Triple Yellow is $495, and Ruby Red Tint is $395. Regardless of model, navigation goes for $795, and reverse parking assist is $295.
For both the EcoBoost and GT, the six-speed automatic tacks an extra $1,195 to the sticker, and adaptive cruise control is the same price. The GT also has a limited-slip 3.55 rear end for $395 and a GT Performance package for $2,495. Recaro leather seats add an extra $1,595. For the EcoBoost, there's something called EcoBoost Performance package for $1,995. The system doesn't say what the packages include.
Ford dealers offered discounts on tools to fix aluminum
Mon, 27 Jan 2014With the introduction of the aluminum-bodied 2015 Ford F-150 (and the likely use of aluminum in future Ford products), Ford is looking to help its dealerships reduce costs related to repairing this more labor-intensive material. Automotive News is reporting that Ford dealers with body shops will require an estimated $30,000 to $50,000 in equipment and training to work on aluminum, and to help alleviate the financial burden of the new F-150, Ford has announced a special 20-percent discount on this equipment.
Dealers will be able to save up to $10,000 on tools such as welders, air-filtration systems and rivet guns and to create aluminum-specific work stations. The new F-150 goes on sale in the fourth quarter, and dealers have until October 31 to take advantage of this deal, according to the report.
