This is a great 1961 Ford Thunderbird in triple blue. The car runs and drives great and has the factory 390 motor with original automatic transmission. I was told by the previous owner that both the motor and transmission were rebuilt recently. It is very clean in the engine compartment and there are many new parts such as voltage regulator, windshield washer bag, coil, water pump, ect which leads me to believe that it was all re-done. The interior is super clean with re-upholstered front and rear seats and newer carpet. The headliner is original and looks awesome. By the looks of the brake pedal pad and the headliner I think there is alot of credibility to the prevoius owner's statement that the car has original miles. Odometer says 59,944.....
The car has had alot of recent work including new brakes, wheel cylinders, rubber brake lines, shocks, new wide white walls, gas tank cleaned out, new fuel lines and filter, and much much more. All the lights work and wipers, dome light, door light even the cig lighter works. The paint is bright and shiney and looks great, it is not perfect and has some blems here and there. There are some nic's on the pass door from door opening on it, a couple small bubbles but over-all nice. If you have a paint guy that is good with fixing small inperfections and then blending paint back in then its a easy fix. There is a small area on the left rear quarter that has surface rust, not a hole or anything just where the paint chipped off. Once again a easy fix for a good paint man.
There is a real nice and expensive Ford "Thunderbird" aftermarket radio already installed in the car. I forgot to take pictures of the trunk but will add them later, its a clean as under the hood. This is a great driver quality car that looks great and everybody loves when im out driving it. This car can be taken to the final level of "show car" with a litte polishing and cosmetic work. All the hard and expensive stuff has been done. This is the only one i've ever seen with this color combo and i love it. Almost all your 61-63 Birds are a standard white, red, black or cream color. This is a very unique car and screams class.
I want to make it very clear that this is not a show car. If it were a # 1 condition car then i would'nt be selling it as cheap as my low reserve is. The reserve is very low for a car of this quality. This car has small inperfections in the paint that can be easily fixed without having to paint the whole car. The paint stands tall and looks great. This is a awesome driver quality car that has had well over $12,000 in restore work done. If you are looking for a 100 point car then you will need to look at Birds in the 25-30K range. This is a great compromise because its a fraction of that cost but still stands tall and is very neat and tidy. Please do not bid if you are not sure you want to own this car. Ebay charges alot of money to vehical seller's and that last thing we want is a non-paying bidder. Im sure you understand.
I have tried to basically under-sell the car because i do not want any misrepresentation and would rather make the car sound worse then it is and not have any problems when the new owner comes to get the car. It really is a very nice car, just not museum quality yet. There are a few things that i will try and fix before the end of the auction. The radio works fine but i don't like the way the wires are run so i am going to re-route, also the brake lights stay on occasionally, probaly the switch and there is a exhaust leak somewhere that i have to find. If i have enough time this week or weekend I will try to find and repair those items. I work 60 hours a week so I cant guarantee that those small items will get done. I just took the car on a 200 mile road trip and it did great. The newer tires are "period correct" wide walls bias ply are are great around town but bias ply don't like the interstate over about 65 mph.
This is just a great car and I will hate to see it go. This is a turn key car and one that you can drive as you finish the "fine detail" work that it needs. Please feel free to call me with any questions at 706-218-4028. My name is Christopher. Oh and I live in Georgia which does not issue titles for cars older than 1975, I will give you a notarized bill of sale along with the Georgia tag reciept that is in my name. If you live in a "title" state then they have to recognize georgia's paper work and they WILL ISSUE YOU A TITLE. Ive been thru this before with out-of-state'ers and know what you need to get your title, no problem......MAY TRADE FOR ANOTHER PRE-1972 VEHICAL OR COOL MODERN CAR OR TRUCK.

Does the new 2015 Ford Mustang have a burnout control system?

Tue, 10 Dec 2013

Whether it's lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring or automatic emergency braking, most of the electronic systems we see emerging on new vehicles focus on safety. But there are some there just for enthusiasts. We're talking about systems like automatic throttle blipping for perfect downshifts, or launch control to get that textbook acceleration from a standstill. But the latest system could prove just the opposite of the latter.
Although it has given us most of the details, Ford is still keeping certain elements of its new Mustang secret. But emerging reports may have the skinny on one system which Ford is trying is darnedest to keep under its hat for the time being. That, according to unnamed sources cited by Motor Authority, is burnout control.
The system is reportedly designed to help novices execute the perfect smokey burnout - sort of like launch control, but specifically the opposite. The system could, according to elaborative speculation, lock the front brakes while spooling up the engine to optimal revolutions before dumping (or indicating the driver to do dump) the clutch. A cloud of tire smoke and a long pair of skid marks would then ensue.

Ford recalling 126,000 Fusions and Milans over wheel separation concern

Fri, 09 Dec 2011

Ford has announced a recall of certain Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan vehicles after an investigation by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. A total of 128,616 2010 and 2011 models equipped with steel wheels may have been manufactured with wheel studs that could crack and split over time. If that happens, the vehicle may experience a wheel separation.
According to The Detroit News, the company is aware of a total of 30 wheel separation incidents, one of which occurred on the front of the vehicle. Even so, no injuries have been reported as a result of the defect.
The problem apparently stems from the fact that the mounting pads on the vehicles' steel wheels may have been faulty from the factory. In addition, the wheel mounting face on rear disc brakes may not have been installed properly. Ford will inspect the rear disc face and replace them as necessary. In addition, the company will replace all of the vehicle's wheel studs free of charge. Head to the NHTSA website for more information, and click past the jump to view the full recall notice.

Ford to pay $17.35 million over Escape recall

Thu, 01 Aug 2013

Ford had a bit of a recall spree around this time last year, with a pair of issues on the then-new 2013 Escape, followed by a recall of 423,000 2001 to 2004 Escapes because they might accelerate of their own accord. Accordingly, Uncle Sam pasted Ford with a $17.35 million fine because it took too long to inform customers, according to a report from Automotive News.
Ford agreed to settle with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, accepting the fine but not admitting fault. The recall, which afflicted Escapes with the 3.0-liter V-6 along with 217,000 Mazda Tributes from 2001 to 2006 and 2008, was due to faulty gas pedals that could stay down after a driver removed their foot.
Ford issued a statement regarding the fine, saying, "We take the safety of our customers seriously and continuously evaluate our processes for improvements. While we are confident in our current processes for quickly identifying and addressing potential vehicle issues, Ford agreed to this settlement to avoid a lengthy dispute with the government."
