Here is a nice 1956 Ford Thunderbird. We bought the car to hot rod and customize it but decided it was too nice to tear apart. So we got another car to modify.
The car runs nice and has had a lot of work done recently. We have all the receipts from the previous owner. The car came from Westminster MD but spent a lot of time in the Miami area (their winter home)
The car was originally a tan ? mauve? color. It is showing under the repaint in areas and in the trunk. The paint is worn, chipped, scratched and flaking. Like Patina??? The body looks nice. does not look like it was ever wrecked. I took a magnet to the body and only found 4 small spots less than 6 inches round. They were low in the rocker/fender area....I would guess the usual rust areas. The floors looked great. We found one spot of rot about the size of the tip of your finger.
Rear bumper is nice...no rot. Chrome looks pretty good but not perfect. front bumper the Chrome is showing it's age and should be replated. Not rusty...just scratched and old looking.
The interior is OK...it shows it's age but is not too bad. A few small rips here and there.
Motor runs OK...could use a little tuning. I drove the car 20 miles home when we bought it. Stopped, steered and drove just fine...it was a nice ride. We did have the tank cleaned. It clogged the line after sitting a bit.
All in all the car would make a nice little driver or would make a great start for a restoration.
Thanks For Looking and Good Luck

Toyota, Ford and Honda again top Consumer Reports Car-Brand Perception Survey
Fri, 01 Feb 2013Consumer Reports has released its annual Car-Brand Perception Survey, and the list looks awfully familiar. The top six brands are identical to last year's results, with Toyota, Ford and Honda continuing to occupy the podium. All told, Toyota walked away with 133 points, putting it 15 ahead of second-place Ford. Honda jumped 26 points this year, narrowing Ford's lead to just four points in total.
Consumer Reports polls buyers from across the country on how they see multiple brands in seven categories, including quality, safety, value, performance, design/style, technology/innovation and environmentally friendly/green. Researchers then combine the findings to come up with the total brand score.
While value and performance remain important to buyers, CR found quality and safety are still on top when it comes to significance. Scion and Mitsubishi found themselves at the bottom of the pack with the worst score of all, tied at just six points. Ram, Fiat and Mini filled out the lowest five with scores of seven, eight and 10 points, respectively. You can read the full press release below for more information, or head over to the Consumer Reports site.
Ford cleans up painting process with cameras
Thu, 22 Aug 2013Knowing how the bacon gets made rarely entices us and, in the same vein, the same usually goes for knowing about how new cars get painted. But in both instances, however, quality - or a lack thereof - is instantly obvious. In terms of the latter, Ford is showing off its new paint quality process with 3D Dirt Detection Technology to find imperfections in vehicle paint more easily and more quickly.
This process - being performed on the F-150 SVT Raptor above - uses 16 computer-controlled cameras to create a three-dimensional model (inset) of the vehicle to detect flaws in the paint including dirt particles, which can then be buffed out manually. Ford says this new technology cuts down on time spent looking for paint flaws and gives workers more time to correct those that are discovered.
Currently, Ford only uses its 3D Dirt Detection Technology system at three factories (the Dearborn, MI facility, along with those in Louisville, Kentucky and Valencia, Spain), but it will soon spread to five more plants in North America. Ford has released a video and press release for this innovative and unexpectedly interesting process, both of which are posted below.
Mulally confirms he's not leaving Ford for Microsoft
Tue, 07 Jan 2014In recent months, rumors had been flying about Ford CEO Alan Mulally potentially leaving the company to take a position at Microsoft. Last we heard, Mulally was planning to stick around at Ford through at least 2014, and in an interview today, that bit was confirmed by the CEO himself.
According to the Associated Press, in a report from The Detroit News, Mulally said he will not be leaving Ford for Microsoft, and reiterated that he will remain at the Blue Oval through 2014, if not longer. Mulally has "no plans other than to serve Ford," according to the report.
Mulally did not say whether or not he had been in talks with Microsoft at any point. Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer has said he plans to leave the software company sometime this year.
