1955 Ford Thunderbird
This is a very rare opportunity to own a very unique, classic, collectable automobile. This finely built Thunderbird 1955 reproduction is of the best quality and highly sought after. Sold thru Ford Motor Company it's very limited production makes it hard to find a model like it today. It's body is completely fiberglass, 1/2" to 3/4" throughout and completely hand formed and blocked.Countless hours went into this fabrication. The paint is Ferrai Testa-Rosa red and it's beautiful. The dimensions and details very closely match the original factor steel bodied 1955 Thunderbird only better and here's why: Fiber glass body will never rust Cruise control Air conditioning Tilt wheel Floor mats with Thunderbird logos AM/FM/CD player with 6 speakers Continental Kit 5 Vogue tires Tru-spoke wheels 302 Mustang V-8 engine Edelbrock Cam Edelbrock 4 barrel carb Edelbrock Valve covers Heating and Defrosting system Fully lined and carpeted trunk Authentic Two-tone door panels and bench seat 2 Tops, 1 Matching Red Hard top with port hole window and 1 Tan soft top All windows are Herculite All this and roomier inside for a person over 6' tall. As you may not know the original did not have all these features or have that much room. You have to look hard to see a difference from the original 1955 Thunderbird. The power train is an original 1984 Ford Mustang, 302 engine, trans and frame with this body dropped on. Completely hand built. The upholsterers who did the interior were from the Illinois Thunderbird Club who do only 1955, 1956, and 1957. Also being hand built, the spaces between doors, hood and trunk are perfectly spaced, unlike any factory steel body. This car was made with Shay Thunderbird molds, that were the best. See their website: http://www.shayhistory.com/HistoryShay.html Shay no longer exists, but these limited production Thunderbirds were produced by Paul Housey of Camalot Motors. http://www.bobsclassics.com/55f.htm It has a hard top and convertible top with zippered window for venting when the top is up. The car has 12,075 original miles and is a cream puff in every way, a real beauty. Garage kept since day one and is a pleasure to drive. I hate to sell but this car deserves to be driven or shown. I am the original owner so feel free to ask me anything about the car. Car can be viewed upon request. Ford EcoBoost V6 hits the dyno before hitting the track
Wed, 02 Oct 2013Ford Racing just unveiled the Riley Daytona Prototype that will make its racing in the United SportsCar Racing Championship Rolex 24 at Daytona in January, and now it has released a video showing development of twin-turbo 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 that powers the car. Using the same block and heads that can be found on a production Ford Taurus SHO, this new racecar benefits from the collaboration between Ford Racing and Ford powertrain engineers.
While we still don't know what kind of power this engine is putting out, it has definitely gotten a workout at Ford's 17G dyno. This area deep within Ford allows the automaker's racing program to work hand-in-hand with production engine programs, which can be a benefit to racing operations and production cars alike. Scroll down to hear a few people from Ford talk about the crosspollination between its racing and engine teams and watch the EcoBoost get red hot on the dyno.
Here's why automakers roll out those Texas-themed pickup trucks
Thu, Sep 29 2016Every year, automakers with a full-size truck link make a big show of the Texas State Fair, usually involving a reveal of a new model. Sometimes they show a whole new truck, and other times a special edition centered on the Lone Star state. While some people might write this off as a quirk of the industry, others might be wondering, "What's the big deal with Texas?" As it turns out, part of the big deal with Texas is big truck sales. According to Dave Sullivan, product analysis manager at AutoPacific, Texas buys more trucks than any other state in the country. It's not a small margin either. Edmunds.com, one in five trucks sold in the US are sold in Texas. The state also accounts for 15 percent of the country's large truck sales, which is more than twice that of California, the second largest truck market in America. Even when you break down sales only in Texas, trucks are a huge piece of the pie - Sullivan says that a quarter of new vehicle sales in Texas are trucks. One in five trucks sold in the US are sold in Texas. But it's not just sales that make truck builders give attention to Texas. As Sullivan explained, "Pickups are life in Texas." Both he and Hugh Milne, marketing and advertising manager for the Chevy Silverado line, said that trucks are key fixtures in Texas society, as both work trucks and luxury vehicles (or Texas Cadillacs as Milne called them). Milne said Texas is so important in the truck market that if you want to be successful in the rest of the country, "you've got to be successful in Texas." As for the State Fair, it has become a prime location for reveals in part because of the importance of the Texas market and because of how big the fair is. Milne also revealed that the State Fair also hosts its own auto show, so it's an ideal venue for a vehicle introduction. So there you have it. Why do truck builders obsess over Texas? It's because Texas obsesses over trucks. When you have one market that loves your product that much, you give it the attention it deserves. How Ford hid the 2015 Mustang from spy photographers
Fri, 20 Dec 2013Now that we've finally seen the 2015 Ford Mustang, it's fun to go back and look at the spy shots we spent months pouring over, trying to dissect what was under all the camouflage. For the most part, Ford did a good job of concealing the car from spy photographers, and it released a video showing how much work went into doing so.
As crude as the Mustang's camo looked, all of the hard plastic, foam, vinyl and ratchet straps were actually created and put in place by a specific design team. The whole idea was to hide the car's identity, but it certainly ended up acting as a magnet for attention, too. According to Ford's press release, it took less than an hour for spy shots to appear online after the car was taken on public roads for the very first time - this is likely in reference to our first official spy shots of the Mustang from June, shown in the gallery below.
Scroll down for a press release and video, which shows footage of the 2015 Ford Mustang testing with minimal camouflage. This is probably the same track session where we got our first look at the Mustang's face back in August.
