As you can see from the photos, this Thunderbird has an absolute gorgeous body. This Thunderbird sports a beautiful older cosmetic restoration that has held up very well.. A high-quality prep and application was professionally performed, with no orange peel. The paint was then professionally buffed to a high gloss mirror finish and has held up very well for an older paint job. There is no rust bubbling anywhere on the outside body panels. The underside appears to have all original sheet metal, with great frame rails, strong torque boxes and undercarriage. There is a small 2x2 hole cut-out on the passenger rear drop-off. The only rust I could detect is a removable bracket on the underneath passenger side frame. This car is not a trailer queen, it has been driven and admired for many years with a few paint chips to prove it. There is some minor paint cracking under the driver rear tail light (see picture). There is some touched up bodywork on the inside of the hood by the hinges. The panels on this car show great fit and are straight. New aftermarket rear fender skirts. I would rate it a solid driver quality paint and body 8 out of 10.
The interior is nice and appears to be original. The dash, carpet, upholstery, etc. is in very good condition and has held up very well. The lights, speedometer, wipers, turn signals and brake lights are functioning properly, The tach, radio, and horn are not working presently. The floor mats, kick panels and door panels are in nice driver condition as well.
The original 292 CID Y block engine runs fantastic. This Thunderbird starts at the flick of the key and runs strong and smooth. The car tracks straight and brakes straight, has good steering response and a nice ride. The automatic transmission shifts very responsive and smooth. The engine compartment is clean, and detailed. Front drum brakes and rear drum brakes. Suspension and is firm and responsive to the touch. The drivers side exhaust manifold has been replaced. Also, added is a new exhaust system and a new "correct:" carburetor and air cleaner. This car has been converted to a 12V system. There are some very minor fluid leaks from the engine and transmission as could be expected of a car it's age. The engine runs well and is quiet. Nice original rims and hubcaps with fairly new wide whitewall bias tires. The car runs and drives as nice as it looks. The odometer shows 5087 miles. It is probably 105,087 miles.
The trunk area is very clean, detailed, and looks great. There is not even a hint of rust. A new trunk mat and weatherstripping would finish off the trunk. No issues here, the pictures of the car speak for themselves.
The car of course gets lots of looks, it's really what I'd call the perfect collector car: a super desirable 1955 Ford Thunderbird Convertible that is a super nice driver with an older cosmetic restoration that has held up very well. This car is mechanically sound and runs fantastic. The title is free and clear in my hand.

Creations n' Chrome Top Notch Mustang is a one-of-a-kind fox
Thu, 07 Nov 2013Is there a cooler car from the 1980s and early 90s to mod than a Fox-body Ford Mustang? No, there isn't. If you disagree with us, we suggest you have a look at this 1990 Mustang Coupe, which just might change your mind. Although considering just how extensively modified this car - the Top Notch Mustang from Creations n' Chrome - is, we wonder just how much Ford is left in this old pony.
It rides on a custom race tube chassis that weighs a scant 700 pounds, while carbon-fiber bits and bobs help lower the overall curb weight to a mere 2,400 pounds. When paired with supercharged, 5.0-liter, Aluminator V8 from Ford Racing, the results are, doubtlessly, exciting. 855 horsepower at the rear wheels and 667 pound-feet of torque are available from that force-fed V8 should be just plenty for this car's intended purpose of running in standing-mile competitions.
The Top Notch Mustang is more extreme than just weight savings and a big engine, though. That 5.0-liter is essentially in what's known as a front-mid layout - where the engine is actually behind the front axle. In this case, the 5.0-liter V8 is 17 inches further back than a factory Fox-body, for better weight distribution. As a result, the cabin has been completely overhauled. An SLA front suspension, wheels from HRE, Wilwood brakes and Sparco interior items round out the extensive list of mods.

Lincoln Aviator could make a comeback
Tue, Jun 9 2015The idea of Lincoln dropping its alphanumeric scheme in favor of real names was welcomed by fans of the marque and even appeared possible after the rousing reception to the Continental concept. Now, rumors suggest that the next of the luxury brand's nameplates to see a possible revival just might be the Aviator. Don't get your hopes up quite yet, though. The Truth About Cars admits that this tip comes from a second-hand source, but the person reports that Lincoln has a project codenamed Aviator as a model based on the Explorer. There's evidence to give the rumor some shaky support, though. Ford already has the trademarks for the name and AV8R. Also, an Explorer-based vehicle in 2019 is included for the brand's predictions in the recent Car Wars forecast. Autoblog reached out to company spokesperson Sam Locricchio, but he would not speculate about future products. The same source claims to The Truth About Cars that the Blue Oval might not replace the Ford Flex or Lincoln MKT when the current generations come to an end. Also, the next-gen Expedition and Navigator could use 10-speed automatics and follow the F-150 to get aluminum bodies, which is also already rumored. Although, all of this should be taken with a big grain of salt until anything more official has arrived. Lincoln spokesperson Stephane Cesareo gave The Truth About Cars no comment on the rumor, but said, "By 2020, we expect to expand the segments that we participate in by adding two new nameplates to the Lincoln brand. We have not provided any indications about the products or their names." Related Video:
