The Ford Taurus Rage is a concept vehicle designed by Ford for the 1999 SEMA auto show held annually in Las Vegas.  The Rage is a well documented prototype and a time piece of style from the late 90s.  The Rage is one of one and very rare, designed by Ford Motor Company.  The vehicle was owned by Ford originally and this is verifiable via car fax.  The ground effects are all steel and the remaining body enhancements are fiberglass.  This is not a kit on this car.  This is very highly professionally done work by the Automaker.  The seats are custom by Lear Motorsports.  The wheels are an original only done for this car by Italian wheel maker MOMO.  The cams have been welded by the number one expert amongst enthusiasts in Chicago, Illinois.  The engine has been looked at extensively and documented to be in great condition.  The 3.4L SHO motor was a joint effort between American (Ford) and Japanese (Yamaha) designers.  The engine runs really great.  The exhaust is Borla and it sounds good.  Cars today don't sound like this.  The car isn't super fast.  Its around 260hp.  Its very stylish, sounds great, and turns heads whenever its on the road.  People ask a lot of questions and are very intrigued.  Its a must see.    There is minor restoration to be done on this vehicle.  It runs great, drives great, and looks amazing.

The RAGE has gotten a lot of unfair talk about it on message boards by people who have only seen pictures and have no clue what they are talking about.  There are a lot of misconceptions out there by people.  Since I have owned the Rage I have been very proactive in doing my best to preserve this awesome piece.  I stand behind this vehicle 100%.  It needs minor restoration to the body only.  Fords of this era have the reputation they have, I can't change that but the experts who have been through this car and written about it have found that this vehicle was given extra special attention in manufacturing to bring the RAGE design to life.  You can see in the picture the front ground effect was cracked by the previous owner.  That's the worst of what needs to be fixed.  Other than that its very minor restoration needed for the Rage to look as it did in the Vegas pictures.

How Ford secretly used customers to test its aluminum F-150 [w/video]

Fri, 30 May 2014

Automakers getting clever about disguising development vehicles isn't anything new. Between mules wearing the sheetmetal of other cars and prototypes decked out in as much camouflage as is practical, automakers know how to make it very difficult for the general public to get an exact idea of what kind of vehicle is in development. Ford, though, is rapidly becoming the master.
We knew that the Blue Oval originally tested the durability of the aluminum construction being used for the 2015 F-150 by building an all-aluminum 2014 truck and entering it in the Baja 1000 off-road race. That's no longer a secret. What we didn't know, though, is that the aluminum development dates back to before even that, and that some of the people in question had no idea what it was they were working with.
Ford says this is the first time prototypes have ever been handed over to the public.

Honda poised for growth, Detroit to hold steady, Car Wars study says

Fri, Jun 5 2015

The automotive industry is expected to keep booming in the US over the next several years, but the train might start running out of steam in the long term, according to 2015's Car Wars report from Bank of America Merrill Lynch analyst John Murphy. The forecast focuses on changes between the 2016 and 2019 model years, and the latest trends appear similar in some cases to the past predictions. Sales are expected to keep growing and reach a peak of 20 million in 2018, according to the Detroit Free Press. The expansion is projected to come from a quick pace of vehicle launches, with an average of 48 introductions a year – 26 percent more than in 1996. Crossovers are expected to make up a third of these, maintaining their strong popularity. However, Murphy predicts a decline, as well. By 2025, total sales could fall to around 15 million units. As of May 2015, the seasonally adjusted annual rate for this year stands at 17.71 million. Like last year, Honda is predicted to be a big winner in the future thanks to products like the next-gen Civic. "Honda should be the biggest market share gainer," Murphy said when presenting the report, according to Free Press. Meanwhile, in a situation similar to Car Wars from 2012, a lack of many new vehicles is expected to cause a drop for Hyundai, Kia, and Nissan. Based on this forecast, Ford, General Motors, and FCA US will all generally maintain market share for the coming years. The report does make some future product predictions, though. The next Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra might come in 2019, which is earlier than expected. Also, Lincoln could get a Mustang-based coupe for 2017, a compact sedan for 2018 and an Explorer-based model in 2019, according to the Free Press. Ford paying $750 million just to close plant in Belgium

Thu, 21 Mar 2013

According to a report from Reuters, Ford is shelling out $750 million in a severance deal that will see the automaker close its facility in Genk, Belgium. The automaker reached this deal with the 4,000 hourly workers employed at the plant last week, which means the company will pay out an average of $187,500 per worker.
Ford is still negotiating with the 300 salaried workers at the factory, which currently produces the Mondeo sedan. All told, Ford expects to lose around $2 billion in Europe thanks in no small part to the region's ongoing economic downturn, and two more plants are scheduled to be shut down in Europe this year. The company will log its $750 million payout under "special items" for this quarter.
As you may recall, Ford took a similar path in the US back in 2009 when the domestic market took a spill. Back then, the company shelled out around $50,000 per employee with at least one year of experience, plus either $25,000 toward a new car or an extra cash payment of $20,000. It would seem the cost of closing plants in Belgium is a much harder pill to swallow than in the States...
