Up for sale is my 2002 Ford Taurus SES. The car was used as my company vehicle so although it's got a bunch of highway miles on it (192K) it has been routinely fleet maintained every 3000K with receipts. The SES model is absolutely loaded with everything including the following:
  • Power steering
  • Power brakes
  • Power window
  • Power door locks
  • Power seats
  • Power adjustable pedals
  • Power mirrors
  • Power trunk release
  • CD player w/ concert sound
  • Defrost rear window
  • Defrost side mirrors
  • Key-less entry
  • Cruise control
  • Dimming mirror
  • Digital compass
  • Leather seats
  • Floor mats
  • Exterior entry lighting
  • Cold A/C
The car has recently had a complete tune-up including wiper blades, spark plugs, spark plug wires, coil packs, oil change with filter, tranny service with filter, air and oil filter, tire rotation, as well as new brakes on all four wheels including drums, rotors, calipers, shoes, pads and rubber lines. The fuel pump was replaced about 10K miles ago. Please note, this is the car with the good motor in it. If you are in the market for a Taurus or Sable, do yourself the favor and stay away from the cars that have the emblem on both front fenders that reads "24 Valve DOHC" as these motors were notoriously problematic.

This car is FAR from being perfect and it most certainly has it's fair share of dings, scratches, bumps and chips for a twelve year old car. The interior although clean, also shows wear on the seats and door panels but the dash, steering wheel, headliner, etc. are all in good condition. It has been a good reliable and comfortable car for us over the years, everything works on the car, all the gauges operate in the normal range and really all that is needed is a good home. If you need reliable transportation for not a lot of money, this is the car. Please look over the photos as the pictures serve as the description. Please note, I have a 100% clean and clear title in my hand, not some salvage title, not a rebuilt title, not a theft recovery title.

Zero feedback bidders MUST contact me prior to bidding. Do not place a bid if you do not have the means to complete the transaction. Car is being sold "as is" and "where is" so it is 100% the buyers responsibility to inspect the vehicle PRIOR to the auction ending. I will help the winning bidder with transportation if needed, but this is at the buyers expense or you can fly in and drive home as well. A $500. non-refundable deposit is due within 24 hours and the balance must be paid with-in seven (7) days from auctions end. Please contact me with any questions and thanks for your interest.

Ford patents a multi-touch version of its classic keypad

Fri, Sep 9 2016

For decades, Ford has offered a keypad on the doors of their cars that would allow owners access with the right code. Amazingly, the keypad has survived almost unchanged except for a recent touch button version. A new patent from the Blue Oval shows the keypad may get a big upgrade soon. The first big change is that it looks like the keypad may move to the key fob. Although it might be possible to have it on the car itself as well, the patent only seems to focus on the key fob. In addition, the fob will now be a multi-touch pad similar to that of modern smartphones. This will allow for more diverse code entries, according to the patent's description. Instead of just a simple number code, owners could enter a code that involves swipes and keystrokes, and even simultaneous keystrokes. For instance, you could enter a code that requires swiping from 1 to 3, followed by holding 2 and 4 to unlock the car. The patent also seems to indicate that this keypad would then display unlock functions and other functions on the fob after the correct code is entered, thus making it more than just a way to unlock the car. As for the practical implications of this keypad system update, it could provide an added layer of security. If someone steals your keys, they would have to also know your access code to get into the car. Whether this would also help make the key and car harder to hack would remain to be seen, though. Another possible benefit could be the prevention of accidental lock and alarm button presses, although that likely isn't a common issue. There could be potential downsides as well. If used as an extra layer of security, the legitimate owner would have to punch in their code on the fob to get in, which would render proximity key benefits relatively useless. Moving the keypad to the fob would also mean owners couldn't get into their cars without having the key with them. We don't have any clues as to when this could become a feature, but it doesn't seem like it would be difficult to implement, so it could show up in the next few years. 2015 Ford Mustang EcoBoost

Fri, 16 May 2014

Earlier this week, Ford invited us to Charlotte, NC, to ride in an all-new 2015 Mustang fitted with its turbocharged 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder. It's the first forced-induction, four-cylinder ponycar for the Blue Oval since the sun set on the 1986 Mustang SVO. We jumped at the opportunity, as only a handful of people have ever been in the passenger seat of this new car, and most automotive media won't get as close as we did until this fall.
As we revealed in our Deep Dive, Ford will slot this new turbocharged four as premium powerplant between its naturally aspirated 3.7-liter V6 and the naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8. At last mention, the automaker said the direct-injected, all-aluminum engine will develop 305 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque, returning the best fuel economy of the three powerplants in the process. History buffs will note that those figures are appreciably stouter than the 200 horses and 240 lb-ft that the '86 SVO realized out of the same displacement, and the latter's figures were hugely impressive at the time. On paper, the new EcoBoost four looks to be a good fit for most owners who want to balance performance with efficiency - we were eager to see how it felt from the passenger seat.

Bill Ford augments his power by nearly doubling stake of supervoting shares

Fri, 28 Jun 2013

Bill Ford Jr. has more sway than ever over the automaker that bears his surname, as the great-grandson of Ford's founder has reportedly doubled is holdings of Class B Ford stock. According to a report from Reuters (which cites a newly discovered securities filing), he acquired some 3.7 million Class B shares from an unnamed family member.
Class B shares of Ford stock are held by descendants of Henry Ford and offer expanded voting power to their holders - Bill Ford Jr. now controls roughly 11.5 percent of the total Class B pool. Ford Jr. is also a one of five trustees that manage a voting trust that oversees the majority of these "supervoting" shares. In total, Reuters reports there are 71 million Class B shares that account for 40 percent of the voting power in the company, despite making up just 2 percent of the total volume of all Ford stock.
Ford Jr. served as Ford's CEO until 2006, when he stepped down to hire and make space for current CEO, Alan Mulally. The move to consolidate Ford family voting power, at least somewhat, is seen by many as a comforting sign with Mulally's departure from the company likely to happen in the next several years.
