Ford Ranger Ev Electric Vehicle on 2040-cars
Northville, Michigan, United States
This is a rare 1998 Ford Ranger EV. The Ford Ranger EV (Electric Vehicle) is a battery electric vehicle produced by Ford Motor Company. It was produced starting in the 1998 model year through 2002 and is no longer in production. Approximately 1,500 vehicles were ever produced and all but a few hundred were recalled and crushed in 2003-4. There are no exact figures, but it is believed that there are less than 200 vehicles left total of all production years. This is a first year production vehicle and has characteristics not seen in the 1999 and later vehicles.
I bought this vehicle with the intention of making it my daily driver. The battery pack has been converted to be used for 12 volt batteries using the resistor spoof but the pack is depleted and it currently has a range of less than ten miles. An additional family member has refocused my priorities and now I need to sell. The truck spent most of it's life indoors and is in great shape for it's age. Buyer is responsible for arranging shipping but I will help as much as I can. The Ford Ranger EV has an active and knowledgeable online community. Some other owners has successfully converted their truck to lithium ion batteries. If you have any questions please ask them before the end of the auction. See the .fordrangerev.com website for more information about these trucks. |

Watch NASCAR racer Brad Keselowski do a burnout... in a hotel conference room
Fri, 08 Mar 2013A vast majority of hotels frown upon smoking inside the building these days, but Brad Keselowski doesn't follow the rules. During his introduction at the 2013 MiilerCoors Distribution Convention, the reigning NASCAR Sprint Cup champion smoked the tires of his Miller-sponsored Ford Fusion stock car, adding a pair of thick, black stripes to the carpeting of the Marriott World Center's conference room.
This definitely isn't a high-quality video, but it's the perfect vantage point to watch Keselowski lay down some rubber and receive a well-deserved standing ovation after pulling up in front of the crowd. Check out the short-but-sweet video posted below.
US Air Force Thunderbirds Mustang fetches $400K at auction
Wed, 07 Aug 2013For the last six years, Ford has created a special version of the Mustang with a military aviation theme, and then donated the car to the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) to be auctioned off at the annual AirVenture event, also known as The World's Greatest Aviation Celebration. The money raised goes to the EAA Young Eagles program to inspire the "aviation pioneers of tomorrow," and this year's 2014 Ford Mustang GT US Air Force Thunderbirds Edition was won with a final bid of $398,000.
Celebrating 60 years of the USAF's Thunderbirds, this Mustang GT is the only one of its kind with a paint job matching the Thunderbirds' F-16 Falcon jets and some Ford Racing performance added on for good measure. Including this car, Ford has helped raise around $2.3 million for the charity with the biggest auction price coming from the first year of the program, the F-22 Raptor-inspired Mustang AV8R from 2008, which sold for $500,000.
