2008 Ford Ranger Fx4 Extended Cab Pickup 4-door 4.0l on 2040-cars
Madison, Wisconsin, United States
This was pretty much the top of the line model and most expensive option package Ranger available in 2008. I'm the second owner. It spent the first 58,000 miles and four years of it's life in the moisture and salt-free environment of New Mexico. For the past two years (and only 8,000 miles) it's been in Wisconsin-- but kept in a heated underground garage the entire time. I'm asking near the high end of the blue book range because it's a Southern truck and has some features not shown on the Kelly Blue Book website. I've installed an epoxy bedliner, new battery, recent coolant flush, new thermostat, and a brand new clutch (with lifetime warranty). It also has (legally) tinted windows and comes with detached factory running boards (which I removed because they just seemed kind of pointless). Carfax shows that it had a minor accident in 2009 (before I owned it). It is truly impossible to find evidence of any body repair anywhere. The salesman I bought it from believed that the windshield had gotten cracked and the previous owner had filed an insurance claim to get it replaced-- hence the entry. The tires are good and no mechanical issues whatsoever. This is really a near-pristine example of the now-extinct compact pickup class, with most of its life still ahead of it. **As far as the transaction goes, the bank still owns a chunk of this truck-- and in WI they hold onto the title when that is the case. If I get a couple days lead-time after payment (and before delivery), I'll obtain the title. Otherwise, the successful buyer will likely have to make a quick trip with me to the bank (during normal business hours) with cash or cashier's check to complete the transaction and get the title transfer document. |

Leno chooses his top 10 Mustangs
Sat, 14 Jun 2014He may be a few months late to the party, but in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Ford Mustang, Jay Leno has delivered a short video in which he runs down which of the Blue Oval's pony cars from the past 50 years are his favorites.
The list is pretty darn similar to our own, with some of the big names from the Mustang's half century making an appearance, while there are three or four cars here that we think you'll be pretty surprised by.
Take a look below for this short video from Jay Leno's Garage.
Ford previews updated Police Interceptor Utility for Chicago debut
Tue, Feb 3 2015With more law enforcement agencies across the United States alone than we'd care to count (or ever encounter), selling police cars means big business for American automakers, with Ford, Chevy and Dodge competing to fill the motorpools of every police department, sheriff's office and government agency in the land. For its part, Ford offers the Taurus-based Police Interceptor sedan and the Explorer-based Police Interceptor Utility, and it's preparing to unveil a revised version of the latter at the upcoming Chicago Auto Show in the same city where it's built. Dearborn hasn't given us much to go on with this teaser, showing just a darkened front shot of the vehicle in question with its emergency lighting all aglow. But it's fairly clear that the Interceptor Utility has been given many of the same updates applied recently to the Explorer on which it's based. That starts with the revised sheet metal, but considering that the Interceptor Utility exclusively packs V6 power, the 2.3-liter EcoBoost four that was one of the biggest updates to the civilian Explorer isn't likely to carry over. Ford does, however, promise that the revised Police Interceptor Utility will be "even better" than the model it replaces" and pack "more high-tech features." Related Video:
J Mays retiring from Ford design, succeeded by Moray Callum
Tue, 05 Nov 2013Ford's highly influential head of design, J Mays, has announced that he'll be retiring from his position after 33 years in the industry, 16 of which were at the Dearborn, MI-based company. Upon departure, he'll be succeeded as group vice president of design by Moray Callum. If that last name sounds familiar, yes, he's the brother of Jaguar's Ian Callum.
It's difficult to explain just how big of a role Mays had on not just Ford's design over the years, but on the entire industry. Before heading to Dearborn, Mays worked for Audi, BMW and then Volkswagen, where he was involved in concept cars that paved the way for design icons like the first-generation Audi TT and the Volkswagen New Beetle. As for his Ford resume, it's extensive.
Mays joined the company in 1997 as design director for Ford, Lincoln, Mercury and Mazda, as well as the Premier Automotive Group (Volvo, Land Rover, Jaguar and Aston Martin). He was heavily involved in the Ford Fusion, Focus, Fiesta, Taurus, F-150 and Mustang, while also contributing to concept cars like the Atlas, Evos, 427, Forty-Nine, Shelby GR-1, Lincoln MKZ and the MKC.
