This is a very strong running, well maintained, mechanically sound truck that I have owned for 10 of its 12 years.  I have always spared no expense with the maintenance, running full synthetic oil and premium filters at every change, and it shows.  Always adult driven; never abused.  Please, don't be scared by the miles - in modern vehicles, its more about the maintenance and HOW the vehicle was driven than how long it has been driven.  As you can probably guess, this has been my daily commuting truck until recently.  I have never had a major mechanical issue, and every major component works as it should.

I had intended on keeping it "forever" to tow the boat, but I owe the IRS a LOT of taxes.  So, I sold the boat.  Now, with no boat I really have no need to keep the truck, and I DO have a need to pay of the rest of the taxes I owe ($5K), so I'm selling the truck.

Most of the truck's life has been in Arizona, where I commuted between Phoenix and Tucson, and Tucson and Sierra Vista (about 90 miles).   Dry climate, mostly, so no rust on it at all.  I did make several trips between Arizona and Florida. Six, to be exact.  The last time (about a year ago) I was towing the boat.  And I wouldn't hesitate to do it again tomorrow.  That's how confident I am in it being mechanically sound.  I have been extremely happy with the Ranger, and I want you to be, too.  That being the case, I have posted a good number of videos and pictures for those of you who can't make it here to see it in person before the auction ends.  Please ask questions; I'll respond as soon as I can.

The good:  well, most of it, really.  Runs strong, drives well.

See it run and drive here: http://youtu.be/U_9bnX1x_Z4   and here: http://youtu.be/KznDvtRy5PY    and here: http://youtu.be/cSYX95JpNik

4-wheel high and low work well  There was a common problem with the 4wd control modules going bad.  This has the new, updated control module and has had no issues shifting into 4 wheel whenever I want.

See it in 4wd here:  http://youtu.be/ZYnOv4FJO98

The average: The exterior and interior are average, I would say. Sun faded on hood and roof.  Interior shows use.  Carpets have been vacuumed but could use a steam clean.  See the exterior here: http://youtu.be/BVdPCtcndeI  the interior here: http://youtu.be/eN85Qo3T1Xc I  welcome those who want to see it in person.  Contact me and we can set a time.

Ford Focus was best-selling nameplate in 2012

Tue, 09 Apr 2013

Last August, Ford made a few waves by claiming that the Ford Focus was, at that point, the top-selling car in the world. The automaker failed to account for variations of the Toyota Corolla wearing a different name (such as the Auris and Matrix), however. With official data from Polk coming in now, Ford is able to say that the Focus was, in fact, the best-selling nameplate in the world last year.
Using new-car registrations (which doesn't factor in fleet sales), the Polk data shows that a total of more than one million Focus models around the world. Strong sales in the US and China have led to a 16 percent increase in year-over-year Focus sales from 2011 that helped to create even more of a gap between it and the second-best global seller, the Corolla.
Ford also had the Fiesta and F-Series listed in the top 10 for worldwide nameplates, but what's even more impressive is the fact that the F-Series is only sold in North America. Scroll down to see the list (compiled by Ford using Polk data) of the top global sellers last year and a press release from Ford.

Ford Recalls Nearly 435,000 Vehicles

Mon, Apr 7 2014

Ford is recalling nearly 435,000 cars and SUVs to fix rusting frame parts or faulty seats. The biggest of the two recalls covers nearly 386,000 Ford Escapes from the 2001 through 2004 model years. Ford says the subframes can rust, allowing a control arm to separate and hamper steering control. Ford is aware of one crash but no injuries linked to the problem. The SUVs were originally sold or registered in 20 states and Washington, D.C., where salt is used to clear snow and ice from roads. Six Canadian provinces also are included. Dealers will install a reinforcement brace to fix the problem. The Escapes covered by the recall were built from Oct. 22, 1999 through Dec. 19, 2003 at the Kansas City Assembly plant, and from May 1, 2003 through Jan. 23, 2004 at the Ohio Assembly plant, Ford said in a statement issued Monday. They were originally sold or registered in Connecticut, Iowa, Minnesota, Ohio, Wisconsin, Delaware, Maine, Missouri, Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Illinois, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Vermont, Indiana, Michigan, New York, West Virginia and Washington, D.C. Also covered are Escapes sold or registered in Ontario, Quebec, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Newfoundland & Labrador. The second recall covers 49,000 Ford Fusion, Lincoln MKZ, Ford Escape and C-MAX vehicles from 2013 and 2014. Dealers will replace seat back frames that weren't welded properly. No crashes or injuries have been reported from the problem, Ford said. Recalls Ford

Here's what the UAW will be angling for in next year's contract negotiations

Mon, Dec 15 2014

The United Auto Workers union is about to enter a new round of negotiations with the Detroit Three automakers, and this time, the focus is on the end of the two-tier wage system. Introduced in 2007, the two-tier wage system was enacted to allow General Motors, Ford and Chrysler to categorize its hourly employees under two categories: Tier 1 for veteran employees with full rights and benefits, and Tier 2 for short-term or entry-level employees compensated under a different schedule. The idea was that the system would permit the automakers to invest more in their plants and hire new employees as part of their respective recovery plans without being saddled with all the costs associated with hiring full-time employees. Now that the automakers are (more or less) back on their proverbial feet, however, the UAW wants to see an end to the two-tier system, and will likely make that a center-point of its negotiations next year to replace the current arrangement that is scheduled to end in September 2015. Not all members of the UAW will necessarily be interested in ending the two-tier system, however. According to The Detroit News, some Tier 1 workers may be more interested in negotiating a raise in their hourly rate – something which they haven't received in almost a decade. Tier 2 workers, meanwhile, may be more motivated to keep the tiered system in place, as their arrangement includes provisions for profit-sharing payments that have seen the automakers pay out billions to so-called short-term employees in lump-sum payments. Reconciling the two competing demands from two categories of union members and presenting a united front in negotiations may prove the biggest challenge for the UAW's new president, Dennis Williams. And with the right to strike – something which was suspended during the last round of negotiations in 2011 – the union has a bigger bargaining chip in its pocket.
