I purchased this truck after the 2 tree year leases was completed. There were only 1,500 of these trucks built by Ford and 1,300 were called in and crushed. This was when, then President Bush, said that Ca., Florida, and the 5 North Eastern Sea Board states could NOT required a specific number of Alternate fuel vehicle be offered. GM and Toyota called in there offerings and crushed them as well. A number  of us who owned these vehicles meet in Sac. Ca to demand that they STOP crushing these vehicles! WE managed to save about 200 of these Ford EV Rangers and small number of the EV RAV4's! I was the Fleet Manager for the City of Santa Rosa at that time. I had over 75 Alternate fuel vehicles in the fleet at one time! I saved the 2 Ranger EV's the City owned as well as mine! I live in Santa Rosa, Ca and the vehicle can be picked up here at my home after approved payment is made. I am selling this EV because I have recently purchased a 1998 EV Ranger that had been in storage for over 8 years. It is one of the first 50 built, (Dec of 1997). It has only 10,000 miles on it and will need the Battery Pack updated from Lead Acid to Lithium Ion. My 2000 Ranger has approximately 75,000 miles on it, has all the up dates installed (including an external oil pump for the Transaxle). It has NImH batteries and provides a 50 mile range, NOTE: a 220 volt charger is included! It also has a full , above cab camper shell, which can go with the truck, or I can remove it and supply a New Bed Liner in place of the shell! Shipping to the buyer will be the buyers responsibility! The truck is very clean and you can find pictures on the EV Trading Post sight. I am asking best offer over $10,000!
The last 2 2000 EV Rangers that sold here from the SF area, went to AZ. and the buyer paid $15,000 each, plus shipping! (about a year ago) Any questions, please contact me at chammond@pacbell.net (no phone calls, as I am very hard of hearing at this time in my life!

Ford acquires Livio to bolster connectivity biz

Thu, 26 Sep 2013

Ford Motor Company has announced the acquisition of Livio, a Ferndale, MI-based software development company best known for aftermarket in-car connectivity devices, but also as a supplier of technology for proprietary systems for automakers. Livio, co-founded by Sigal and Massimo Baldini, will be a wholly owned subsidiary of Ford Global Technologies.
"With the additional expertise Livio provides us, Ford intends to continue to lead the next generation of in-car connectivity with technology advancements that give consumers more options to access their devices on the go," said Paul Mascarenas, chief technical officer and vice president, Ford Research and Innovation, in a statement.
Ford is clearly trying to beef up its in-house tech capability around telematics and device connectivity. While the Blue Oval has been a leader in these areas with SYNC and MyFord Touch in terms of getting the systems into as many cars as possible, the execution of the applications have been criticized for glitches.

2015 Ford F-150 named Truck of Texas, Lincoln and Jeep also awarded at Truck Rodeo

Tue, 14 Oct 2014

The Ford Motor Company has a lot of reasons to celebrate after winning eight categories in this year's Texas Auto Writers Association's annual Truck Rodeo. Most important among them, the Blue Oval's latest 2015 Ford F-150 earned the prestigious Truck of Texas award, ending the Ram 1500's two-year winning streak. The 2015 Lincoln MKC also grabbed the honor as the CUV of Texas, and Ford was named Truck Line of Texas.
FoMoCo even took trophies for best technology with its extensive use of aluminum on its latest F-Series and best commercial vehicle for the new Transit 250. It wasn't a total sweep, though, because the Jeep Grand Cherokee grabbed the title of the SUV of Texas for the fifth straight time.
This year's event put 60 auto writers in 75 pickups, SUVs and crossovers and challenged them to find the best in a plethora of categories. All of the winners are listed below, and scroll down to read the full announcements from the Texas Auto Writers Association and Ford.

Ford is building this sweet back-to-basics SUV in Brazil

We're use to forbidden fruit teasing us in Europe. Hatchbacks and diesels from Renault, Citroën, Peugeot, Skoda, SEAT and Alfa Romeo have been a regular torment that we've grown accustomed to over the years. This vehicle, though, is one piece of forbidden fruit we aren't entirely sure we can get over. We need it.
It's called the Ford Troller T4, and if you accidentally read that as either "reborn Ford Bronco" or "Americanized Land Rover Defender," we wouldn't be rushing to correct you. It's a basic, badass SUV, and is the first new vehicle to come from Troller since Ford gobbled it up in 2007. For those with longer memories, you'll recognize this vehicle from the concept that preceded it, the Ford T-R Concept. The production model remains remarkably true to the T-R, as well as past Trollers, but it's a slightly more modern look overall, with LED taillights, contrasting colors
You'll have to bear with us on the details, as we've been forced to rely on the notoriously literal Google Translate to convert the original Portuguese into English, which means some of the details were lost along the way.
