Selling my 1997 Ford Ranger XLT with only 49k miles.

This is a 1997 Ford Ranger XLT with 2.3L 4-cylinder engine and a 5-speed manual transmission with very low mileage for it's year - just under 49k miles.

I have owned this truck for the past 4 years, owned but not really driven. Bought it back in 2010 and drove it from Florida here to Georgia and then used it for couple of months here around town, putting less than 1000 miles to it. In mid 2010 I have left and spent the last 3 and 1/2 years abroad. During that time the truck was parked in the garage. I have now decided to offer it for sale since I will be leaving again and perhaps it would be better if this truck actually served someone else. This is an XLT trim, so it comes equipped with the following options: rear sliding window, bucket seats, alloy wheels, ABS, driver airbag, radio with CD and four speakers, power steering, air conditioning.

Mechanically, the truck is in excellent condition. The engine starts right up and runs smoothly, the transmission is tight and the clutch is good, a/c blows cold. The all season Firestone tires have plenty of thread left as well. After I bought the truck in 2010, I changed the oil, oil filter and air filter (they have less than 500 miles on them). I also replaced the spark plugs at that time. I also did a few other small upgrades: upgraded the rearview mirrors to larger and better looking ones (from a later model Ranger), replaced the original orange front turn signals with white ones (still have the original mirrors and turn signals). I also installed four bull-ring retractable truck bed anchor points and bough new interior color matching floor mats. Everything on the truck works as supposed to with the only exception being the fuel gauge, it always shows empty but this is a fairly common issue with Rangers.

Cosmetically, the truck is in very good condition, there are some small dings and scratches on the truck bed (visible on pictures) and one scratch running from passenger door to truck bed (pictured separately). The paint is all original and in very good condition, there is no rust, this is a southern car, been all it's life. The truck bed underneath the liner is as good as new (pictured). See the pictures and make your own judgement.

This truck is ready to be driven and serve for many more years. There are not that many left with such low mileage. With its 4-cylinder engine it's also quite good on gas. I have the title in hand. If you have any questions, just ask.

Terms and Conditions:
The vehicle is sold AS-IS, WHERE-IS. I will not ship/deliver. Buyer is responsible for pickup or shipping. Any shipping must be arranged and paid for by the buyer. Full payment required within 7 days after end of listing. I accept cash in person when picking up the car or bank wire transfer.

2016 Ford Explorer embarks at the LA Auto Show

Wed, 29 Oct 2014

Twenty-five years since its debut in 1990, Ford will celebrate a quarter century of Explorer models next year with the debut of a refreshed 2016 model at the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show on November 19. The Blue Oval is keeping mum on hard details about the updated SUV for now, but the brand promises, "a new look, added capability and additional driver-assist technology," in its announcement.
Company marketing boss Jim Farley elaborated a little more on what to expect. "The new Explorer is still the SUV America fell in love with - a vehicle built for the perfect family adventure," he said in the release that you're welcome to read down below.
An updated Explorer is a pretty big deal for Ford's bottom line. Worldwide, SUVs and crossovers account for about 23 percent of Ford's sales, and the segment is projected to grow to around 29 percent by 2020. Ford further says that SUVs and CUVs are the world's quickest growing segment with demand up 88 percent since 2008.

First 500 European Ford Mustangs reserved in 30 seconds [w/video]

Thu, 29 May 2014

We're pretty sure that any initial concerns Ford had about selling the redesigned Mustang in Europe have been lessened considerably, after the first 500 Euro-spec 2015 Mustangs were been reserved in just 30 seconds. Moreover, 9,300 people attempted to snag one of the coveted orders for the all-new muscle car. Yes, Mustang, you should do quite well across the pond.
The registration event was held during the UEFA (pronounced yu-eh-fa) Champions League Final between Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid.
"We knew there was huge excitement building for the new Ford Mustang coming to Europe, but the response during the UCL Final was overwhelming," said Roelant de Waard, VP of marketing, sales and service for Ford's European outfit. "It was a truly special way to kick off the Ford Mustang era in Europe."

Ford's China sales keep falling, down 30% in third quarter

Fri, Oct 11 2019

BEIJING — Ford's July-to-September vehicle sales in China fell 30%, as the U.S. automaker continued to lose ground in a prolonged sales decline in its second biggest market. The Dearborn, Michigan-based automaker delivered 131,060 vehicles in China in the third quarter, Ford said in a statement. Ford's sales in China fell 35.8% in the first quarter and by 21.7% in the second quarter. In the third quarter, sales of the automaker's mass-market Ford brand fell 37.7%, while its luxury division Lincoln saw sales drop by 24.1%. It delivered around 421,000 vehicles in the first nine months of the year, according to Reuters calculations. Ford has been struggling to revive sales in China after its business began slumping in late 2017. Sales sank 37 percent in 2018, after a 6 percent decline in 2017. The automaker plans to launch more than 30 new models in China over the next three years, of which more than a third will be electric vehicles. It also said it would localize management teams by hiring more Chinese staff and aimed to improve relationships with joint venture partners. Ford has launched a series of new models in the third quarter in China, including Focus, Edge, and the electric Territory. In China, Ford makes cars through its joint venture with Chongqing Changan Automobile Co and Jiangling Motors. It has said it would partner with Zotye Automobile Co to sell lower-priced cars, but there seems to have been little progress. In a series of moves, Ford named a new president for its main local venture, Changan Ford, in August and said it would enhance its partnership with Changan through research, production and marketing cooperation in September. Ford is also planning to revamp some of its existing manufacturing facilities with Changan to localize production of its premium brand Lincoln. Changan Ford's sales down by around 33.5% in the third quarter, according to Reuters calculations based on Changan's filings. Ford rival General Motors' July-to-September vehicle sales in China fell 17.5%, to 689,531 vehicles. As GM and Ford China sales extend declines, U.S. car companies' market share of total China passenger vehicle sales fell to 9.5% in the first eight months of this year, from 10.7% in the year-ago period, according to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM). Over the same period, German carmakers' share has risen to 23.8% from 21.6%, and Japanese automakers' share rose to 21.7% from 18.3%.
